Objects illegal???

I read mention that the cool indoor/outdoor pack objects aren't legal any longer.
Is this true and if so, can anybody explain why?

And if this is a playability issue (of which we have had none) why "fix" this and not errata and or bane broken or overpriced figs (i.e. black widow or LE constrictor?

Adventure Kit objects are tournament legal, but may only be used if both players agree to their use.

I had read in a previous tread where the powers that be outlawed them in tournement play. I'm glad that's not true.
