View Full Version : Play questions
Hi y'all, I have a few questions that have come up in recent games.
1)Figs with stealth that are standing in hindering terrain are still susceptible to close combat attack, right?
I believe the rules say something about hindering terrain not effecting close combat.
2)Attacking diagonally at a blocking terrain corner. Legal?
An example would be that if two characters are standing on either side of a corner, the LOF drawn center to center doesn't go through the blocking terrain, but right by the corner. I seem to remember something about this in the rules or FAQ but can't find it.
This really showed up on indoor maps where one guy was inside a doorway and the other guy was just outside. They are adjacent if it's not blocked.
3)On characters like Logan when using flurry, while both attacks are part of the same action, you have to role for both. Does the role/damage delivered on the second hit go against the new numbers showing on the dial left from the first hit or does it all happen at once based on the first numbers?
4)When two opposing figs are in base contact and both of them have plasticity, what are the breakaway rules? Seems like they should cancel each other out and you'd role a normal breakaway as if plasticity wasn't present.
Thanks for all the help!
1. Stealth only blocks LINE OF SIGHT, so no, they don't have stealth for close combat. But outwit will never work on them if they're in hindering because OUTWIT needs LOS.
2. Simply put, no.
3. They are two seperate attacks. You click them for the damage dealt on the first, but the character of course using flurry only gets 1 action token.
4. Plasticty says on the PAC that one P negates the other P's effect, so it's a normal breakaway roll.

Simply put shade is wrong on #2. Take a break dude go out side and get some air. 27 post a day is starting to cloud your judgement. You posted you're rarely wrong well the list is growing.
There's no need for flaming on the boards friend. As I understood the question, the move is illegal. Shooting through a square occupied by blocking terrain is not something you can do without destroying a block, and you need 3 damage to do so. Also, I was at 40, but I had a vacation in the bahamas. ah, the tortures of life..
Ah, I think you were both answering different questions, and probably correct with your respective answers.
Here's what I was asking in graphic form:
around a corner:
xxxbbb
xxEbbb
xxxMxx
xxxxxx
x=ground
b=blocking
E=enemy
M=me
or at a doorway:
xxxxxxx
xxxExxx
--- ---
xxxxMxx
xxxxxxx
This one is a little trickier to "draw". Imagine that this represents an indoor map and the
--- --- is a wall with a doorway in it. The enemy is standing directly inside the doorway and I'm standing just outside and one over. Our squares ARE physically adjacent, but can we still hit each other in these two cases?

1.) You may always attempt a close combat attack when adjacent, unless the figures are on different elevations. In that case you must have Leap/Climb to attack.
2.) You may attack around the corner in your map situtation. The same also applies to attacking on opposite sides of the outer corner of a building. You may also indeed attack from the doorway either in or out of the building as long as you have base contact. However, an opponent's Barrier that touches at a corner prevents adjacency:
.....B...
...2B....
...B1....
..B......
1 and 2 cannot attack each other through the diagonal barrier.
3.) Yes. The first Flurry attack is resolved before making the second. Therefore you apply the 2nd attack roll to the new stats and powers. If the opponent is suffers knockback, the 2nd attack cannot be made. If the figure using Flurry scores a critical miss and the click of damage takes them to a click without Flurry, the 2nd attack cannot be made.
4.) Straight from the FAQ:
"If a figure with the Plasticity power is attempting to break away from another figure with the Plasticity power, treat it as a normal break away roll (fails on a 1, 2, or 3; succeeds on a 4, 5, or 6.)"

The best way to always show how a question is is go to and tell us exactly where they are at. Give us exact Letter and numbers where people are, oh and tell us which map it is.

From your examples savasyn. I beleive you can attack each other.
Thanks, Enigma, for the overall clarification. Much appreciated.
And hey you two(Shade & JediGeof), quit bickering back there. Don't make me turn this thread around! We'll go home, I mean it!;) :D

Thanks! I'd never seen the online boards before. Actually, I still haven't as the version of nutscr@pe I have here at work won't view that page. Doh!
My girlfriend(at home using internet exploder) says they're pretty cool, though.
I'll have to see if I can figure out another way to see them. Perhaps mozilla...

You bet she does. She's on this board, too. Briester510. She hasn't posted yet, but she reads a lot.
Nope no graveyard shift, just long hours. I'm a digital FX artist and we are finishing up X-Men2. 3.5 weeks to go=we are here all the time :(
Funny, thing though, I just finished up for the evening so I'm heading home to go PLAY this game rather than just discuss it! Woo hoo! :D

Dang, well there are defiantly some interesting professions on this forum. Here I get to be a Arcade Manager no great job for me.
My wife plays also. We both started at the same time and she can beat me. OF course right now she's in a rut. I have her strategy down, so I can guess what she's gonna do, she needs to change it up. :D ;) :p
