After years of waiting for a Bane remake, I was thrilled when Wizkids unleashed the DC75 SR on the world. To celebrate, I have informed my fellow players that Bane will be on every team I play this year in an attempt to make the best KO list of all time. Yes, I am aware that KO lists are lame, but I'm doing it anyway! I plan on attending some "big events" this year, so here it begins...Bane's 2011 KO WORLD TOUR!!

Hehe I one shot a fresh 140 pt BatB Shazam after a timely Black Alice Outwit. Venom Pump is sick!
I've found that he works best on Secret Six theme teams. A. It gives you the chance to avoid Junkyard maps and maps with too much elevated terrain. B. It lets you pair him with Ragdoll, who ties figures down while Bane picks his targets. You could build better teams with Martial Artist teams, but where is the fun in that? (Although the idea of Nightcrawler bamfing people right next to Bane is humorous, Bane wouldn't dishonor himself like that!)

You using one Ragdoll with him, or more than one?
I've been fortunate enough to get several unbroken Ragdolls (gonna be chase value one day!) and have been toying around with playing a bunch on a Secret Six team.
Ragdoll is on most of the teams. He's a superb tie-up, and with the ATA, he's been able to soften up many of Bane's KOs. I don't play with dupes, and I only play themes. Also, we play Silver Age (all figures, no feats or BFCs) 99% of the time. In the future, I'll post teams/scenarios with the updates.

Night 5: AA SR Batgirl, 2 x R Sentinel Troopers, BATB Metallo, JL R Superman, DC75 SR Hal Jordan, SR Ultron....and AA Lamppost Batman. KO of the night was actually the last 2 games, when Bane literally took out every figure on the opposing teams. Bane had eagerly anticipated his rematch with Batman, but Wayne was apparently exhausted from womanizing, and put up little resistance.
Current totals: 15 games, 36 KOs.
Another highlight was in game 1, when Bane was KO'd. All I had left was Scandal Savage on her last click against NightBat, AA Robin, R Jessica Jones and R Lobster Johnson. Scandal rolled a 6 on Regen, rolled a 6 with Blades to KO NightBat (on a push), avoided taking damage, rolled a Crit Hit on a Charge against Robin (KO'ing him), then finished off Lobster with a BCF roll of 6 as time expired. She was not pleased at Bane's defeat...

Still loving this thread. And am jealous that your Bane is much more effective than my Bane. When I field him, opponents target him and ignore the rest...
Note: I avoid sending Bane after figures already on the list, even if it costs me a game. The goal is to get as many unique KOs as possible.

Depending on point value I'd go Apocalypse and some horseman with Bane (because frankly, the fact that Bane ISN'T a horseman of the apocalypse is an oversight on Apocalypse's part) since Apocalypse can't be outwitted and the other colossals can. I did see Nemisis run wild at my venue last week though ...
It's 600 points, so Bane has 457 points to spend on cannon fodder. It isn't an oversight on Apocalypse's part. Upon meeting Bane, Apocalypse decided that being a horseman of Bane was more glamorous than having his own horsemen, so he signed up to be Bane's sidekick/intern. Bane respected Apocalypse for his wise choice, but snapped him in half for his cowardice.
Apocalypse: Broken and done.
Night 6: This week we played the WK colossal scenario. Choosing a Frost Giant as his pet, Bane added the following names to his list: Colossal APOCALYPSE, Colossal Sentinel Mark V x 2, Emma Frost, Pretty Boy, Bonebreaker, Hammer Agent, Omega Prime Sentinel, Norman Osborne.
Apocalypse cried as he fell.
After losing the second round to Magneto (got stuck on the water map), Bane took out his frustrations on a Norman Osborne/Robot team, KOing all but one figure on the other team...
Current totals: 18 games, 45 KOs, including 3 colossals.

There is a picture up on WK's Facebook page of Bane gloating over the defeated Apocalypse. Bane was KO'd by SR Magneto in the second round... SR Magneto will pay a very high price for this...

A part of me wants to start running wild with a figure much like Thugit has, but really, which single figure compares to Bane or the awesomeness of this thread?
I have put the fear of the Reavers as a collective group into the hearts and minds of the people at my venue, particularly Skullbuster. He went toe to toe with a WL Hal Jordan and almost won (got him down to live and then the time expired).
I guess I'll keep using the Reavers while thoughts and dreams of Bane breaking various people dance through my head like sugar plums and give me some measure of comfort in this cold, dark world we live in.

After a long war between the Secret Six and the Brotherhood/Hellfire Club, Bane added SR Magneto to his list. Revenge is sweet, indeed. 19 games, 46 KOs.

Forgot to mention: I played a Secret Six team on Thursday of Bane, Scandal, Deadshot and Alice. Bane broke the backs of Bonebreaker and Skullbuster.

I can't give you much of a play by play as I had my hands full with the Teen Titans on another table. Thankfully I didn't face this NC team, X-Force would've been killed. But the guy was using a pretty standard Martial Artist 600pt team, Deadpoop :P, Bullseye(Tbolt ultimate), NC, Question, Elektra and Psylocke vs Bane, Ragdoll, Black Alice, Deadshot, Scandal, Cheshire, and Para.
SS was mostly pinned in the prison map most of the game, with the mid walls broken so Bullseye can freely snipe, thankfully the MA team was used by a guy that just comes here copies teams and runs em and he had 3 snakeeyes from what I heard. SS won in the end but barely never taking out Deadpool(got used mostly for just preplex) but they took out NC at the start because the MA user was too focused on breaking walls down and was too scared of Bane and wanted to focus on Ragdoll and Alice with NC. Checking the game out at the end Bane was just still on the Toughness clicks and only losing Cheshire and Deadshot he would've killed Ragdoll too with Elekra but crit missed on him. That's about as much as I gathered from that match.

So Thugit, what strategy do you recommend when using bane?
I look at him and think, TK, Venom Pump for 2 charge and plop him on his 18 def inv clix.. Is that your general strategy?
Really, it depends on the game. If a big threat gets caught in the wrong place, I Venom Pump for 3, then use Outwit to "control" the situation. I have not used TK yet, and I haven't carried him in any game listed so far.
You can make it easy by pairing him with Nightcrawler and Martial Artists, but I usually use the Secret Six. Alice is a huge help, Deadshot gets around Impervious without having to use Outwit, and Ragdoll can hold people in place until Bane decides that their number is up.
I like to use the Pump to get him to the second click. Then he can use the tombstone to defend or assert himself.

Have you considered spamming a bunch of Ragdolls to run out and tie-up everyone on the other team so they can't make any range combat attacks while you maneuver Bane for the KO?
We always use the Highlander rule.
That said, if you played against a team without HSS, a team with multiple Ragdolls, Deadshot, and Bane could wreck house. If Ragdoll had any other keywords, he would be ridiculous.
Frequently used objects: Tombstone, Vine, Kinetic Accelerator. The Teleport Pad is useful, too.

I have yet to use mine, although I have my next 3 teams at my regular venue planned out (I do play at a second venue sometimes, so I may break him out there) so I will fight the temptation to scratch the itch and just know that somewhere on a heroclix map Bane is chanelling his power through thugit and is breaking backs and stomping on cracks (butt cracks that as, then proceeding to walk them dry).
And just so you know thugit, I've been a longtime fan of the Secret Six (since Villains United) and love the book and love Bane. It's one of my "guilty pleasure" books. Not that the book is bad, I'm just not usually a fan of the level of violence and depravity that happens in the book. But it's too darn entertaining and good to stop reading. Uncanny X-Force WISHES it was Secret Six (but I also read that too, and it is entertaining in it's own way).
Edit: I love Bane so much from reading Secret Six all these years that I went back and got all of the "Knightfall" triliogy. That's a great read too.

I liked Bane when he first appeared, simply because he was the one and only character in comics who ever out-schemed Batman and beat him at his own game.
Then, they just couldn't figure out how to use him. Once he joined the Six, he became a very, very interesting character again. If you think about it, he's the REAL self-made man. Batman is the best version of man that money can buy, where Bane is a guy who has tried (and frequently failed) to make himself the better man. He came from the worst circumstances a person could, but survived and thrived. When he realized the error of his ways, he tried to re-make himself again...it's fun to watch a warped version of Batman struggle against his demons, attempting to become a man of honor.
As for the thread title, I had DemonRS change it. I don't know how I missed such an obvious title in the first place...
Slightly off topic.. Are the secret six books in TPB form? I stopped reading after villains united (I was put off by infinite crisis stuff).. But if Bane has made his way onto the team I want to read!

Yep. The first trade of the current series is called "Unhinged," IIRC. Bane joined after Salvation Run...I think it was in Birds of Prey.
Another tournament, another pile of broken bodies. 3 games, 11 KOs.
Tonight's team:
Bane 140

First round was against PaulHill's Cyclops/Archangel/Multiple Man swarm. Due to hideous dice rolls on my part and smart play by Paul, Bane's teammates were taken out rather quickly. Bane took two Madri, GSX Cyclops, and an E Multiple Man. Time expired just before Archangel could be broken.
Game two was against obesesniper93's team of Chi'p, 3 Predator X, and Lilah. Bane took down two of the beasts, only to have the last knock him down to Regen. The Predator had two tokens, Bane had none. He rolled a 6 on regen, then snapped the last robo-dog in half the next turn. Bane is having one mounted, one turned into a rug, and plans on using one as a hood ornament.
Round 3 was against daddyman's Martial Artist team of Psylocke, a fraudulent bane, WoS Nightcrawler, Howard the Duck, R Black Panther, V Taskmaster, and AA SR Batgirl. Bane re-crippled Babs, snapped faux-bane in two, and the rest of the Six took down the rest of the support. Howard and Nightcrawler were eventually all that was left against Bane, Deadshot, and Kid Zoom, but to his credit, daddyman chose to fight like a man, basing Deadshot and Bane. Although Bane admired the elf's courage, it didn't stay his hand. Howard the Duck begged to be spared, but his pleading fell on deaf ears.
Bane was not KO'd in any game.
22 games, 57 KOs.

But it's okay, I didnt expect to win with them.
BUT I'm not playing for fun next week.
I've lost enough soldiers to bane. We're gearing up for A more serious battle, next time ;)

So far, the more noteworthy victims are Skrull Ms. Marvel, HoT Thor, GSX Magneto, WoS Deadpool, JL Superman, SR Hal Jordan, Lamppost Batman, and WoS Nightcrawler.

But I do envision Bane having something latin sounding with a lot of horns due to his latin heritage ... and my racisim.
You know I was looking back at all the Lantern figures DC has gotten and I found it odd that Bane never got a ring during the whole series seeing as he's a popular DC character. I think he would've made a great Willpower or Rage ring user. Just imagine a flying, tking, Bane.

Man I played a 500 pt game with my main team being him WoS Nightscrawler and AA Mad Hatter. It was beautiful when I was pulling the other team to me punching them real hard with venom pump. Then I pulled BD Deadman up to me mind controlled him with the Hatter used support on Bane rolling a six and then venom pumping for 3 for a big hit.

I've got villains united.. It was pretty decent but the one I expected to hate (the magic one with spectre) was actually my favorite..

In the comics, who would you like to see square off with Bane? Why?
Who do you want to see added to this list? I'm eager to add CosmoSpidey and SI Dr. Strange...who should Bane crush next?
1. I'm going to stick to the Batman line up for this one and say Cassandra Cain. Daughter to the two best assassins, master martial artist, and can read people. Bane will have a hell of a fight, I can imagine her just landing hits after hits on Bane, while he can't even get a good bead on her position.
2. GSX Juggernaut, Magneto, Prime. The last two I'm not sure if you already broke their backs.

Comic wise, I'd like to see Bane square off against both Red Robin (Tim Drake) and Batman (Dick Grayson). Not at the same time, but I think I'd be interesting to see how Bruce's boys do against Bane. I can totally see Tim not underestimating him but being very timid to face him considering he was just starting out as Robin when Bane broke Bruce. I can see Dick underestimating Bane due to having not really faced Bane before and not knowing how truly cunning and brilliant Bane is ... and paying the price for it.
I wouldn't mind seeing Bane take on more "street level" characters like Green Arrow and Black Canary and such. I'd also love to see the Secret Six take on Deathstroke's "Titans".
And for a great one-off Bane story, check out his apperance in JSA Classified from some years ago. He takes on Hourman. It's a fun story.

I was considering forming a Young Justice/ Teen Titans Team to Oppose the Six, but I think Tim is too smart to send his friends to their doom.
Yeah, Tim knows that Catman and Deadshot are bad enough on their own.
I would guess that other than Bruce, Tim knows better than anyone how dangerous Bane really is.
Then again, Bane seems to extend his respect for Bruce to the rest of the Bat-family (he walked away from Nightwing), so I could see him stopping the Six from making a move.
I highly doubt that he would have any such reservations about throwing down with Slade...

go with b, make sure to get everyone from the bat family if possible, and because of what my bane did the big dr maybe you should get a Dr. Manhatten/ Silk Specter dou from the collectors set and use him as banes latest beat down victim.
Yeah, I would leave him empty-handed. That way, you could have him pack around his most recent victim in each game. I honestly thought about doing that with mine...

All indications are a "return to his roots."
That was a fun character...18 years ago. Now, it would just be ignoring the last several years.
He and Batman have legitmately settled their issues, so having him go after Bruce again would be out of character.

I'm hoping he doesn't go back to his old ways. In Secret Six he's struck me as the type to say, "You doubt me? You underestimate me? You'll pay for that lack of faith!" It would totally be a waste if he went back to being full-on bad guy Bane.

That's what I would hope for, but they've pretty much confirmed that he's getting pushed as THE Batman villain again.

Whenever I lose a game or a beloved character does poorly, I always say "I'm jobbing on this one" or "Iceman's jobbing big time" (and really, when is Iceman NOT jobbing? In both clix and comics?)
Back to the topic, I wouldn't mind seeing Bane go "full evil" again, but I'd rather he become a threat to Grayson then to Bruce. There's new/better material there than just rehashing the beef's he's settled with Bruce.

There's other things I read, but don't really find myself enjoying a whole ton. So I won't bother listing them.
My fingers are crossed that someone will bring back the ongoing Nova book, as it (and much of the artwork) was amazing.

If you like secret six try out x-force, being tha tI've been behind on my comic reading I just finished the first arc of uncanny x-force and it was pretty great (aside from deadpool who felt mostly pointless).
The older x-force stuff (the reboot of x-force not the REAL old x-force with crapple, I mean cable) got me back into caring about the X-men.

Why from the beginning of course! :laugh: I beleive it rolls out of 52 (like right after). There was a decent mini (Vanishing Point) that came out as well. It was loosely based on retreiving Bruce from the time stream. That's been traded too. I read everything in trade now. Booster Gold is on my short list of trades I will not wait for sales or conventions to pick up.

Booster Gold has been traded I believe. The John's arc is great in establishing Booster as a "somebody" that will never get the recognition he deserves. The Jurgens run is alright. I like Jurgens and have always found him to be a serviceble at worst writer. Booster is his creation so he tends to do well with him.
However, Giffen and DeMattis (of the legendary JLI fame) has had a solid run on the book that has been great in humor and in character building. Jurgens takes over the book next issue as Booster Gold will be the only regular DC title to tie into Flashpoint. Booster and Barry Allen vs. the world? I'm down.
I read the first 12 or so issues of Booster Gold, and it was good.
(I only dropped it because of lack funds.)

I wouldn't mind seeing a Jeanette and Giganta in the next set over some Z-List legionairres in the superman set.
Giganta is playable now, but it would be nice to see one with the keyword.

I dont' know enough about her.
But she was definitely stronger than the average person (or am I thinking of someone else).
Shape change seems likely her eartly form and her banshee form.
Psychic blast and pulsewave fit her scream.
Forceblast and mind control is a bit off.. but.. eh..
And regen seems to fit as she always comes out at the end no worse for wear.

I ran a Four Horsemen team against a Cosmic Spiderman and PHoenix Team and caliban did insane amounts of Damage to Her.
Bane can and will deal with Phoenix and/or CosmoSpidey...

I'd be interesting to run a series of "Knightfall" games, where there's a Bat Ally team and a Gotham villians team. I'd be three rounds, but Batman is never put back to top of the dial after each round. Instead, he only heals clixs for whoever he KO's that game. Same Bat Ally team. Two different Gotham baddie teams.
Example: Batman gets knocked down six clicks, but then he KO's three opposing characters himself that game so he heals back three for the begining of next game.
This goes on for two rounds, and the last round is just a Bane vs. Batman one-on-one battle. It'd be interesting to see how far Batman could get.
You could then do a fourth round of Bane vs. Jean Paul Batman one on one for fun.
