I recently watched a game where someone used a flyer to make a ranged attack on a character in an adjacent square. Was this correct? If it is can someone show it to me in the rules. Also, do hovering characters have any line of sight advantage? Like being able to shoot over grounded figures.

Yes, a hovering figure can ranged attack an adjacent figure. I don't have my stuff with me, so I can't give a quote right now. (HC will be along shortly with a quote for you I'm sure)

As to a LOS advantage, No, they don't get it.

Fliers can always make a range attack on a adjacent character.

A ground character can make a range attack on a adjacent flying character if there are no adjacent grounded characters.

From the rulebook, under Ranged Combat:
Hovering: Hovering characters can attack or be attacked using ranged combat, even if the hovering character occupies a square adjacent to the attacker.

From the FAQ, under Hovering:
A Hovering figure that is adjacent to an opposing figure may make a ranged combat attack, but only against the adjacent figure..
Hovering figures may always perform Ranged Combat actions against adjacent figures. Grounded figures may perform Ranged Combat Actions against adjacent hovering figures, but only if they are NOT ALSO adjacent to any opposing grounded figures.

Hovering figures will not have any Line of Fire advantage. They will not be able to shoot over grounded figures.

So Tsannik, who's the Rules Arbitrator at the moment ?

Steenbock ? Magister ? Chappeu ?

What do WizKids do, eat them ???

All the Best

On a related question, if your soaring, attacking a soaring there is no blocking per faq,

"Ranged attacks between two soaring characters are not affected by grounded blocking terrain. : Nov 4, 2002 "

So, is hindering also not an issue? I would think not but it didn't say/ couldn't find.

Also, since sentinels can be attacked in soaring mode do these rules apply to combat between a soarer and them? I would think so, but wasn't possitive.a

thanks
