View Full Version : Hydra Character Questions

I'd like to build a theme team with Hydra after Explosion comes out. However, I do have a few questions... Just as Quasar and Logan make perfect sense on a SHEILD Theme Team, who could I justify by adding onto a Hydra Team.

The Only one I could think of was the Silver Samauri... I think that he used to hang aroung with Viper... But I'm not to sure.

Also, in regaurds to Poison, if you had two characters with poison such as Viper and Red Skull, and they were both in base contact with a character who had toughness, would that character take a click due to Poison? In short is all poison damage dealt at the same time (such as an EE splash) or individually (like Flurry, one click then assess the second click)?

First, I'm afraid I can't give you any insight to your poison question, but since I'm planning on also building a viable HYDRA team, I'm curious to a ruling as well. For the meantime, I'm anticipating that Toughness and Invulernability are going to be difficult to through with only Red Skull and Viper around to deliver the real damage.

As for characters associated with HYDRA, the Silver Samauri was protecting Viper back in the days of Jessica Drew (the first Spider-Woman). He is a must for the team.

Viper also used Constrictor and Taskmaster (in his "cooler" costume) at various times in the Cap. books. Naturally both of them will find their ways onto my team.
Though not legal for tourney play, I'm considering making a custom Crossbones (a Red Skull thug) using Bane's figure.

Ist thing...Poison bypasses Defense Super Powers (Impervious, Invulnerability and Toughness) like Psychic Blast.

Other Characters that have worked for Hydra in the past that are or will be availible are:

Elektra (due to her connection withthe Hand)
Taskmaster (has worked for everybody at one point or another)

Constrictor
Controller <-------- Unknowingly worked for Hydra
Mr. Hyde

That's all I can think of at least

Here's what I figure in a 300 point game

Taskmaster V 75
Red Skull U 47
Viper V 43
Silver Samurai V 40
Operative 128 U 16
AIM Medic V 17
Hand Ninja BtB V 17
Hand Ninja BtB V 17
Hydra Operative R 9
Hydra Operative R 9
Hydra Operative R 9

299 points

A movement Nightmare! No taxi's! But I should be fun nonetheless. Lots of BCF to counteract Invulnerability... And Pray to God nobody goes after Taskmaster I need that Perplex!

I'm pretty sure that Poison DOES take into consideration things such as toughness and Invulnerability. Imperviousness is not a direct attack so it doesn't save you from Poison.

Wow, sounds like you've already got your team. Unfortunately I don't have the unique fig.

I agree with you on the poison ruling. Toughness and Invulnerability speficially mention "or by super power effects that inflict damage". While Imperviousness does not. (as taken from the DC power card)

And naturally I'd avoid the rooftop map, and try and talk players into an indoor match. ;)
