How about we set the battle in the training grounds on OA, that is where I usually set my training matches. The training grounds create opponents from it's database. You can pick whatever opponents you want, and whatever location. You can even play a Marvel team as the Marvel characters if you want. We have done that in the past. Maybe an X-Man team? That is quite fun in that the X-Men think they are in the Danger Room and the GLC think they are in the training grounds. :) My only request is that you play 4 or more characters, I need to get some points out of this.

I thought you said we were using the sciencecells map? That works for me.
And were is the link for maps? It used to be you could access it from any other map, but not any more. And none of the links marks Maps in the Tutorial thread seem to be it, either.

Descriptive Post:
John and Tomar Tu flew over to the flat that Hal was using on OA. When they arrived at the flat John knocked 'shave and a hair cut' on the door. A sleepy voice cam from inside, "Wha...Who???"
"It's me. John. Remember we have training this morning. I am rusty, and the rest of you seem to have forgoten that we are the Honor Guard and are supposed to work together better than anyone."
"Uh... OH! Today? Sigh. Ok give me 10 minutes."
"5! Move it airhead." Tomar Tu looked at him quizziclly. "Earth military rivalry."
"Ah." With an non-understanding acknowledgement.
7 minutes later Hal emerged holding a dognut. "Ok lets go jarhead. Where is Jade?"
"She is meeting us there."
Meanwhile...
Scott had assembled the X-Men. "Ok after that last outing against the Brotherhood the Professor said we need more teamwork. So more sessions in the Danger Room." About half the assembled X-Men groaned.
"So what is today's scenario?" asked Jean.
"I don't know. We are going to use the random setting. We enter and we have 10 seconds to organise then the program starts. The Professor says that will help us work on evaluation and reactions. Remember we are working on teamwork so make an effort to work together and not showboat. Here we go..."
At the same time...
Once all four Honor Lanterns were assembled Hal walked over to the controlls of the training area. John volunteered, "I think we should practice against more than 4 opponents. We didn't do so well against that swarm of hoods. We got out because we didn't have to defeat them all. We need to work better at defeating a large number of foes efficintly."
Hal turned to the controlls. "Ok, computer note that condition. Display options." The screen filled with text. Hal closed his eyes and randomly spun his fingers over the option and stabbed down..
Scott's finger pressed generate.
Deep in the subatomic structures of the incredably intricate and advanced computational structures a connection was made. Two doors opened into a shared created environment. Two teams stepped into the environment ready to get to work...
{Got the idea? Now you can pick any map you want. Just set me up in a line of 4 directly across from you in this order, Jade, John, Hal, then Tomar Tu.}

As for the storyposts, great minds think alike. I used a similiar thing with my Fantasy League team (the Golden Age JSA) meeting a team of X-Men.
Now, onto game question. 3 actions? And do you want me to sent my rolls to you (I will be using the roller on the map anyway, it in no way obligates you to do the same. It is your training mission, after all!)?
As as a newbie, when will I know it's time for one of these? Hawkman is ready to crack his REV LE progression from Origins, and Jessie need to get to her Liberty Belle persona so that
A) she can join the JSA daisy chain
B) have an actual codename

"Whoa, Scott." said Iceman. "What channel wher you and Jeannie watching last night?" Marvel Girl's cheeks went almost as red as her hair. "None of your business, Drake." Cyclops said with a smile. "But I did tell the Danger Room to pick a random scenerio. even one random for me."
"There's just one problem, o fearless leader." chimed in Hank McCoy, the Beast. "There is no scenerio like this one in the Danger room database."
"Maybe the professor put some new ones in?" said Warren Worthington III, the Angel.
"I'm sensing 4 lifeforms here, humaniod, but otherwise unfamiliar to me." said Marvel Girl. "Something...green is preventing me from getting surface thoughts. If I concentrate, I may..."
"That's fine for now, Marvel Girl." said Cyclops. "We needed to work on adapting to the unknown, he is the opportunity. Attack plan, Delta!"

1) Free Cyclops rolls for Leadership...or not. Having never played the X-Men, I didn't realize NO version except the new one had Leadership. Even E Storm got some. And Emma. Wow. Luckily, "Take me to the front of the battlefield, Angel!" Angel will pick up Cyclops any fly to E-13, setting Cyc in. F-13.
2) Polaris wil pick up Havok in a magnetic bubble and move to J-16, dropping Havok off at K-15.
3) The Bouncing Beast will spring up to F-15.
4) "Slide, Bobby, Slide!" Iceman will move to G-16.

Yeah that is a bit of a problem. Havok has it though :confused:.

2) Tomar Tu will RS to K4 and shoot Havok. :d-normal: 16 + 2 ESD +1 hindering - 10 attack = need 7. Rolled 6,2=8 hit! Edit Theme Team PC Rolled 3,3=6 miss. Havok takes nothing.
Free) Tomar Tu will Perplex John's attack to 9.

Ah nuts! I just realised you have team probs. I will assume you want to take a token and make me to reroll the first attack.

How many actions are we playing? I though it was 3. If it was 4 then I would have moved either Bobby or Jean up.
And Tomar's attack missed because of hindering terrian. 16(+2)(+1)=19 you have a 10 rolled an 8. I wouldn't have used a re-roll.
Who needs the stats? I want to make sure they get the most opportunities!

"Who are these guys!" said Havok as he narrowly dodged blasts from Tomar Tu and John Steward.
"I don't know!" said Polaris. "But they don't seem to to be mutants. All their power resides in their rings."
[But that is enough] came Marle Girl via the telepathic link she had set up. [They are called Green Lanterns, part of an interstellar peace keeping force.]
"Funny, I don't recall the Starjammers telling us about them." said Cyclops, keeping his eye on them.
"I don't think they are from our space." said Beast. "Someone, the Danger Room has gotten this...profile from another universe!"
"Think about the implications later, Hank." said Havok. "They are coming around for another pass!"

1) Free While not trying to step on Scott's toes, Havok has learned a thing or two while he and Lorna have been off adventuring together. Roll of 6 means he will inject if he wants to share one.
2) Marvel Girl will move to I-17.
3) Havok will use some of his stors of cosmic energy and fire at John. A 10 to a 15 (+2) (+1). 3,1=4 for a miss as John forms a shield in time to deflect Alex's energy.
4) Cyclops will move up a step in front of Warren to E-12 and fire a concussive blast at Tomar Tu. A 9 to an 18 (+1). 2,6=8 for a good try, but Tomar was also able to protect himself with a shield.

Descriptive post
Hal, "Ok looks like a prison break in progress. I count 7 escapees. There isn't a lot of room in here so watch your lines of fire. John, Tomar attack plan epsilon." While he was calling the shots he used his ring to make pair of ogres dressed in football gear they hit the wall and cleared out some debris to open a firing lane. "Jade you watch our flank and try to keep them busy."
A chorus of affirmative answers told him his plan was in motion. Tomar Tu lay down a long range pattern of fire but the ogres were not quick enough to clear the line of fire and all the blasts did was warn Havok to duck and cover. John flew in next but with Havok alerted he could not get a clear shot on him. "Hal! This isn't going very well."
Jade erected barriers that kept the crossfire from hitting her teamates, "Where did they get the weapons if this is a prison break?"
Tomar Tu replied, "That one," he waved in Cyclop's direction "used eye beams. I think they are the weapons."
John continued to fire into the rubble keeping the X-Men's heads down. "Yeah this one shot energy out of his hands at me. Be careful looks like the Training Area has upped the difficulty level a lot."
Hal flew up to Tomar's side and returned fire back at Scott but it was a snap shot and missed his target. "I think you are right John. I've ripped through this scenario before. These targets are much more realistic than last time."

Sorry, ALC. Busy weekend and yesterday I posted 5 games in my Theme League (with storypost intros), then went to my Monday night tourney.
[Anything, Jean?] Cyclops teeped to his girlfriend.
[Nothing,Scott. It's all...green. [The rings must have build in blocks against telepaths. If I tried to dig deeper, I'd lose all sense of what's going on around me.]
[I'D watch your behind for you!] the Angel cut in.
"I'm quite capable of doing that, Warren." said Cyclops aloud as he was right next to Angel. "Besides, I think we have what we need. The rings are the source of their power, as Polaris said...and they are the ring's source of power."
[Meaning what, fearless Leader?"] thought Beast, who heard Cyclops's words in his head even as he spoke them.
[Meaning, watch them make these constructs.] Cyclops thought. [It seems to take something from them...like they have to force it into being.]
[or will it.] thought Havoc. [ Whatever they want, the ring makes...if you can will it. Like Hitler's "Will to" Power.]
[I don't think they are Nazi's.] said Jean.
[Nor do I, I was just drawing a comparasion. How about Aladdin's lamp, or ring?] said Havoc.
[So, the rings can make anything the wearer wants...and there's 4 of them.] the Beast shook his head. [If this is random, I'd hate to see what scenerio you would actually pick!]

No worries. Just thought our game might have slipped through the cracks. It happens to me too.
Turn 3b
Free) Tomar Tu will Perplex Jade's attack to 9.
1) Jade will try to shoot Polaris. :d-normal: 15 + 2 ESD + 1 Hindering - :a-fist: 9 = need 9. Rolled 4,1=5 miss. Glad I wasted that wonderful roll on that attack :rolleyes:
2) Tomar Tu will attack Angel. :d-normal: 16 - :a-fist: 10 = need 6. Rolled ok something wierd happened. I got a critical miss and a 6,4=10. Both popped up at the same time. When I check my email the only one that comes up is the 10. I will give it a minute and see if it comes up and where it comes up. Ok the crit miss came in 9 minutes later than the 6,4 so I am going with the 6,4=10 hit. Super Sense Roll is a 4 so Angel takes 3 clicks.
3) John will attack Beast. :d-normal:16 - :a-fist: 8 = need 8. Rolled 5,6=11. Super Sense roll is a 3 so Beast takes 2 clicks.
That turned out better than I had hoped. I figured you would make at least one SS roll.
Descriptive Post:
"They are rushing us! Keep your personal shields up at full strength!"
Jade saw two mutants setting up a fireing position and start looking for a clean shot. She opened up with a long range barrage but succeded only in making the X-Men duck behind some convenient cover.
When the man with wings came flying up Tomar was moderately impressed. The two twisted and twined in a deadly dance in the air. Finally Tomar launched a spread of missles that appeared to miss. That was followed by a large net structure that Angel easily avoided, but the avoidance put him directly in the path of the returning missles. The X-Man was stunned but not out of the fight.
Beast had thought that John was focused on Havok and Polaris, but Hal's warning had alterted him to the X-Man. John's sudden elbow smash to Beast's back was a shock because he was facing Hal and trying to close with him. The X-man leaped to the ceiling using his claws to gain purchace, putting him out of reach for the moment and giving him a chance to recover.

"Ugh!" Hank rolled with the blow, but still stayed withinh reach of Hal and John. "A pugulist,eh? I'll give you what for!"

Wow the auto dice roller seems to hate you. :nervous: Of course that means next round you will start to roll crit hits! :p
You can play a training game between when your issue is complete and the next one starts. If your next issue is posted then you have to stop your training game.

I'm just using this game to get my bad rolls out of the way for game I'm actually trying to win.;)

1) The Beast will do exactly that. An 8 to a 17. 5,1=6 for miss as Hal whips up a boot and kicks the Beast back down to Earth. "Down, boy!" "Why, you arrogant, emerald,..." and the Beast launched into a tirade of 5 dollar swear words that left Hal both embarassed and confused.
2) SLIDE, BOBBY, SLIDE! Iceman will RS to E-12 and take a pot shot at John. A 9 to 15 (+2) (+1) for either hindering or Perplex. Both would break the Rule of 3. 2,3=5 for a mis as John creates an icepick from his shield to break Bobby's Ice Spear.

Descriptive Post:
"Tomar get this guy out of our hair and into a cage!"
Tomar created a giant squidlike creature which sprayed a green mist over the X-Man leaving him blind to the large tenticals that grabbed him from several directions. The large monster then jetted over to an empty cell and Tomar slammed the door down with his ring. "That should keep him for a while."
"Ok everyone focus fire on the guy with the visor! He seems to be giving orders." Scott leaped for cover as three glowing rings pointed his direction and only a quick grab by Polaris prevented him from being pummeled by a varied assortment of green energy constructs, including missles, rubber bullets and small fluffy dogs that tried to grab his clothing and drag him down.

I'll let you put him somewhere he can see Beast. {The weird alien seems to be the powerhouse} thought Scott to himself. {Let's see if I can even the odds a little.} A 9 to a 18 as a powerful blast shoots from Scott. 5,2=7 for a miss as Tomar makes a tube takes funnels the blast away from himself.
2) Alex will try again with a cosmic blast. A 10 to a 15 (+2) to John. 2,6=8 for a hit as Havoc pours enough energy into his blast to overpower some of John's shields. 4 damage to John.
3) [Scott! I've found some kind of control room!] [Stay there, and tell me what you find!] Marvel girl will move to H-12 (should have done this first! I would have move Scott back. Oh well.).

Special rules for this map:
Orange circles: Monitor Room. When a friendly characte occupies a monitor room circle, all friendly characters ignore the effect of hindering terrain and other characters on lines of fire. Characters occupying Monitor Room circles cannot be given ranged attack actions or make ranged attacks.
Now, if we don't follow those here, that's fine (as this is your game to get stats, I really don't want to do well) so she would miss by 1.

I had better send him a warning.} [Hey, Frosty, you're starting to look like you stepped into a hot house.] Jean teeped with a smile. turn 11b:
1) Tomar Tu will push and shoot Iceman. :d-normal: 16 - :a-fist: 10 = need 6. Rolled 2,4=6 hit. Reroll that with team prob (almost forgot it!) I get a 3,3=6 hit with knockback. Iceman takes 3 clicks and moves to F5 and hits the wall taking another click. Tomar takes a click for the push.
2) Hal will push (Willpower) and shoot Iceman. :a-fist: 15 - :a-fist: 8 + 1 GLC = need 6. Rolled 6,1=7 hit. Iceman takes 2 clicks + 1 Enhancement from Tomar = 3 clicks and is Koed.
3) Jade will push to shoot Marvel Girl with RCE. :a-fist: 15 (with SS) - :a-fist:8 = need 7. Rolled 6,4=10 hit. Super Sense Roll 1 so Marvel Girl takes 4 clicks and is Koed. She takes a click for the push.
(I miscounted her clicks left and had to edit it! So this attack never happened.)

Descriptive post:
The battered X-Men continued to go down in green manacles and chains. Bobby slid and dodged as best he could but Tomar created a giant lizard that spat a fireball at him. Iceman slid around it but when it was at it's closest point to him it surprisingly exploded. Bobby flew into the air and tried to orient himself for landing and rolling but Hal expertly caught him and slammed him into the wall with giant irons that pinned him against the cell wall like the Leonardo sketch. Stunned, Bobby lost focus and his icey coating melted. It would take some time to recover, time he was sure he didn't have.
Jade focused on the remaining woman. She sent a blazing rod of fire at her, intending on knocking the woman down and winding her. The woman looked at Jade and focused on Jade's mind. The two women stared green eyes flaring at each other. The rod slowed down and then stopped. Jean got a toe hold into her mind and then met with green fire. The fire was so intense she couldn't push forward. Jade grimiced and inexorably forced the rod of fire forward and it started inching towards Jean. John held is fire, trying to see any indication whether he should interfere, or if interfering would make the situation worse. Jade was holding her own and he would wait and back her play. With a martial "Ki HA!" Jade forced the intruder from her mind and the backlash literaly flung Jean Grey on her back as the rod connected with her. John quickly slapped a set of neural nulifiers on her and pinned her to the floor.
"Everyone check. Is that all of them? Anyone hurt? No injuries? Good. John and Jade you two sweep that way. Tomar you and I will head this way. Meet back here in 10. Keep in..."
"Simulation Complete." Chimed the computer. "Please exit the room." Two universes seperated again. The GLC saw the scene evaporate into a green mist. They exited the area to allow a group of rookies a chance to practice. They pointedly ignored the whispers behind them as they flew to a nearby cafe for a well deserved meal and post mortum.

Descriptive Post Mortem:
Professor X sat across from the subdued team. "That was not your best excusion into the Danger Room. I have some key points in the battle that I would like your thoughts on."
Cyclops, "But sir! Where did that scenario come from? Neither Hank nor I have ever seen anything like it in the databanks. Unless you added something?"
"I have Forge and several other students going over the Danger Room and the computer as we speak. Do not worry we will find out what happened. For now lets look at the footage of the battle."
"Here. This is a critical point. Scott makes an interesting decision here and tells Havok and Polaris to move forward when he was set in a good position. First, I would like to hear your thoughts on that Scott. It exposed your team to a deadly crossfire that cost you Polaris."
"Second Havok, you had closed with the enemy at great cost, why didn't you press the attack now that you were in position? The wounded 'Green Lantern' would very likely have fallen to you at that point range. Why didn't you count on your teammates to protect the fallen Polaris?"
"Third for Scott and Iceman, why didn't you target the leader after he was injured? Most teams lose effectiveness with the loss of a leader."
"My last question is to Jean. Why didn't you pull Bobby back to you instead of going to him? It would have pulled him back into favorable cover and given you both a chance to regroup."
{I couldn't resist playing Prof. X here. If the answer to this is that you were playing casual then just ignore all this, and next time you play me give me your A game. I think the move forward with Polaris and Havok was bold and a good idea. Something that I do against Choon and it is one of the few things that stymies him (and I think most people would say he is the best technical player in the RPSC and possibly the Realms). The breakaway to move really puzzles me though, I just don't see the reason. That is the real reason I wrote this up. The third is I always try to polish off characters and 'bank' the points with secondary or injured characters. Cyclops or even Jean could have polished off Hal and/or John at a couple of points. Jean has the advantage that if she can see an object, she can chuck that! The last is just a sneaky trick. RS forward with a character, then TK him back, great fun. Too bad my GLs are too valuable as attackers to use this, but Jean Scott/Bobby works great for it.}

My stats are posted in my training game.
And you're right I held back, as the point of this training is to get you stats, not slaughter GL's. My team was better than I thought, especially with the ES/D in the hindering with Jean negating the hindering bonus for your team. I moved up Polaris and Havoc simply to get them out of there, to provide a better opportunity for you, and not KO John or knock JADE into non-usefulness. Same with Scott with he had his RCE. Yeah, he could have finish off Hal or popped Jade, but again, why? It's why I kept going after Tomar, he had the highest DV and I figured he needed the stats least.
When I villian for you next training session, I will bring a less deadly mix of characters so I can go more "A" game.;)
