Hybridity III: Prologue

____ Deadhawk fell down, down, down through the burning ring of fire. He felt like Alice in the rabbit hole, but knew Wonderland was not awaiting him. His body turned and tossed, weightless, being pulled down by the crimson vortex itself. Around him miniature fireballs shot past, like embers from a roaring fire. One of the fireballs struck him in the chest, the other in the ankle where he kept his overused journal. The leather-bound journal tore loose and burst away from its sheath. Deadhawk tried to grab it, extending quickly but the free flying journal was already out of reach. Another fireball hit the journal and burgsh! The journal erupted, a volcano spewing with beaten pages. The pages were on fire, transforming quickly to black ash. All around his body, the big black ashes exploded with delight and rained down in all directions. Deadhawk continued to fall, a shower of ashes swirling and falling as well. Then it stopped, and he slammed into the barren side of a sandy mountain. He flipped and rolled down the creamy brown sand until he reached the bottom of the small dune. There, he lay with his face in the hot dirt.

____ “Well, I actually expected much worse...” Came a familiar voice in his head.

____ He ignored it and groaned, pulling himself up, standing carefully. His journal was gone, and he would miss it.

____ He glanced around in all directions. Behind him he could only see the edge of the sandy hill he’d stumbled down, but he guessed that over it was just more sand. To his far left and far right were skinny rivers, pulsating with blood and fire. Above him the sky cackled and shook. With his amazing sight he could see that it moved because so many creatures squirmed within it. Dragons of death, imps, gargoyles and of course demons. They were a long way off, luckily, and above them the sky was orange and charcoal. In front of him he could see – wait – is that?

____ “John?”

____ The man he’d met while being taken away to Arkopolis. The man who was beaten to death before the breakout, by the guards. John was standing perfectly still, facing Deadhawk, and waiting. Deadhawk approached him. At first he couldn’t believe what he was seeing, but as he grew closer the truth began to set in. John’s face, no his entire body, was scarred and mutilated. Bits of flesh hung here and there, floating softly. The top right side of John’s head was missing, his remaining scalp the shape of a puzzle piece.

____ “John...” Deadhawk said, stopping a few cautious feet away.

____ “That is a name I have not heard in a long time,” John said. “Most of the beings here refer to me as ‘Virgil’”.

____ “What happened? How did you know I’d be here, near this hill of sand?”

____ “I witnessed Mephistopheles bringing in Zauriel’s soul a year ago. Zauriel, in his cries of agony, mentioned you were on your way to save him. I did not doubt it.”

____ “A year ago? But I leapt into the portal not even ten seconds after he was taken.”

____ “That is how time in Hell functions. In fluctuates to best suit the Triumvirate’s needs.”

____ “The Triumvirate?” John and Deadhawk began to walk forward, the only direction to walk. In the distance, they could see a castle made of tattered bones and pink flesh.

____ “The Trimuvirate once consisted of Lucifer, Beezlebub and Azazel. But recently a new group has arisen. Outcasts from the City of Dis. Mephistopheles, the one who took Zauriel’s soul, led the group consisting of himself, Belphegor and Mammon. Mephistopheles was once Lucifer’s second in command, and he betrayed him and has now taken the Devil’s throne. With Lucifer gone – and actually still missing to this day – Mephistopheles and his allies were able to overwhelm the old regime. Now a Civil War has broken out in Hell between those supporting the old regime and those supporting the new. All the while Lilith, Lucifer’s wife, desperately searches for him.”

____ “War is Hell.”

____ “Why are you telling me this, John? I’m only here to save Zauriel’s soul. Nothing more.”

____ “Anyone in power of Lucifer’s throne can decide who is allowed to leave Hell, and who must stay. If the Triumvirate is defeated, I can finally leave this place. It is also the only way to save Zauriel.”

____ Deadhawk said nothing, and continued on in silence. He knew John wanted him to fight, but this was not his war. He was sure he could save Zauriel another way. As they moved, they passed tortured souls burning in the lakes of fire, and malevolent demons impaled on spears striking out furiously in all directions. They even saw what they thought was a puppy on the ground – turned out to be a goblin. John explained that usually there are more, but some had left to join the perpetual fight. Deadhawk nodded. They were both terrified.

Remove Vote since it was pure retaliation, not a double standard. ;)

Seriously, I know some people are fans of D1 voting for pressure, but 9/10, it doesn't work. And it gives a lot of info to the mafia for N1 targets.

Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here

“Sure, you can die in Hell. Although I would not want to. There is no afterlife to the afterlife. Your soul is simply extinguished and then there is nothing. Sometimes this nothing seems better than Hell, but something, even torture, is better than nothing at all. Until recently there was no choice, as no one could die once they were in Hell. The new Triumvirate changed this."

The Gates of Hell

____ Guarding the Gates of Hell was an enormous beast known as the Cerberus. With three massive, fire-spewing heads, the beast made for the ultimate guardian for those trying to escape. One being in particular, known in Hell as “Dragoon” was currently trying to achieve such a feat.
____ “Get out of my way, vile creature!”
____ Of course a three-headed beast of Hell does not appreciate an attitude. The Cerberus opened one of its massive jaws and clamped down upon Dragoon’s shoulder, wrenching him forward and tossing him back onto his back. It blew puffs of ash out from its nostrils.
____ Dragoon arose, injured, and walked back towards the gates.
____ Again he was thrown back.
____ But he continued to rise and walk forward, drawn by a calling from the other side. This time however he was able to dodge the beast’s massive jaw, and the second, and the third. He was on the other side, trying to pull open the massive gates. He was so distracted that he didn’t notice the huge fireball being created behind him. It was released, and exploded into Dragoon’s back sending the gates crashing open and Dragoon engulfed in fire through to the other side. The Cerberus was pleased at the destruction.

The Castle of Skulls

____ One figure approaches another while carrying a contract. The contract is made out of human flesh.
____ “Sign here. In blood.”
____ “I need to think about this.”
____ “Fine. You know where to find me.”
____ They depart.

The Gates of Hell

____ The Cerberus tried desperately to pull the Gates of Hell closed, wondering how this could have happened. It didn’t want to feel responsible for letting anything out, especially while its Master was away. It almost had them pushed in, just about there, yes – wait – no!
____ “Out of the way, pup!”
____ A huge armorclad figure riding a massive motorcycle crashed through the Gates of Hell from the other side. The Cerberus was knocked back, as the Gates flew open and the rider entered Hell. The Cerberus was furious and started to create an inferno in its mouth.
____ “Nice try!” The rider shouted and turned around suddenly in a skidding U-turn. The rider fired two chains towards The Cerberus, one wrapped around the head creating the inferno, while the other entangled the beast’s four legs. Then the armorclad figure turned back around and rode forward, dragging the Gatekeeper with him. Bamn, bamn, bamn! The Cerberus’ tumbled this way and that upon the dreary plains of Hell. The rider grinned and drove around in circles. Finally with a violent stop he tossed the beast into the air, and The Cerberus was impaled upon the jagged spears on top of the Gates of Hell. The rider drove off.

The Sands of Eternity

____ A hideous woman walks through the burning sands, searching for something she has lost. A cat sits atop her shoulder, vomiting blood with every step. In every direction she can only see sand.
____ “I believe we are lost,” the woman says to the cat. It vomits in response.
____ After some more travelling, the woman discovers that there is some sort of dip in the sand in the distance. She approaches it. She is standing on the opposite side of a small incline, and there is what appears to be a crater of sand before her. Noises, she ducks down. As the woman and the cat stare out from their hiding place overhead, they can see a twenty-foot blue ape rush in from the other side of the crater. The sand blasts away at the ape’s massive steps.
____ “Look, in its hand,” the woman whispers.
The ape is carrying something tightly in one of its massive fists, which squirms and shouts with muffled screams. Then the ape, and its dinner, disappear into a den at the centre of the sandy crater. The woman waits, but it doesn’t return. She leaves.
____ Walking away from the crater, she christens it “Lucifer’s Naval”. Then she laughs. As she laughs, the cat vomits blood onto her chest and feet.
____ “Wretched creature!” She hisses and rips the cat’s head clean off. She continues on alone.

This means that the player will be unable to post until they are released.
In order to release a player, one other player must sacrifice their night action(s) for the upcoming night.
To do so, declare the following: I will appease the Great Ape with my offering!
Upon this declaration, the kidnapped player will be released.
If no one declares an offering by the end of the day phase, then the kidnapped player will be eaten and killed.

This may be weak reasoning, but given that the writeup made it sound like one of the killers was by a character that was half Ghost Rider (bike & chains) and Rage's avatar is Lobo (and likely favorite character?), I could see a character mash of the two due to how similar their styles are. It would also fit with the Hell motif. Admittedly, it is pretty weak, but it is possible and I don't have much else to go on.

Plus it would explain why he didn't claim character and instead chose to go straight for the power claim.

Because my fats already in the fire and claiming power rather than a name may save it quicker. To me, claiming a name does nothing, but if I claim my power that was used, and can be affirmed, it may help my cause.

i dont believe ER either, but by the time i even got onto the thread, he was already at majority. thats a terrible idea, not only because michj hadnt been freed yet, but also because there was very little time for people with info to come forward.

Not sure on how you word them, but when I do MC'ers, I make them target two players (A&B) and they make player A target player B. So if it's written that way, then he must target both players. And if so, he'd be just as vulnerable to a PGO as you would so that rules out that strategy. I word them that way for a reason. :devious:

I am not sure if I technically targeted get or not, but I didn't really think it was completely dishonest what I said, just a little misleading (while trying to conceal my actual power). As far as Rachel's alias, I just wanted a "phoenix" related character, and he wouldn't let me choose John Gray, and Jean has been used.

I don't know. While I agree that Rage is probably sketchy, I think I like whoever's arguement it was that Rage is probably neutral. At least we have confirmation from his target that his power claim was valid. Plus I went back and saw that the Ghost Rider/Lobo combo couldn't be correct as Lobo was on the list of unavailable characters, so my theory looks to be incorrect.

Based on the convoluted explination from Chi, I get the feeling he is sketcy too. His explination just doesn't feel right to me. Also, as I don't know Rachel, I will have to take MSU's word on Chi's character claim just not being correct.

Just letting everyone know, my attendance will be patchy the next few days. My grandfather just died, so I will be going home for the funeral. I will actually probably have more free time the next few days than normal, but family will obviously come first. Just thought I would say this now to note why my behavior will be changing most likely.

This news is not bind blowing, since he has been sick for a while, but it is shocking because he was doing so much better and we thought he was out of the danger zone, and then he just plummeted this morning. His departure is bittersweet because, although this is sad news, we know he is with the Lord.

Hybridity III: Day Two
Wrong Turn

____ The rider tore through Hell like an overactive tank, skidding this way and that to avoid corners and sharp turns. John and Deadhawk were still walking across the plains as the massive rider whipped right by them.
____ “I recognize that man from New Torork City,” said Deadhawk, as the rider quickly passed.
____ Destroying an entire city had been easy, and breaking into Hell was even easier. Soon, Warthog would find whoever was in charge and tear them to shreds.
____ Overconfidence has its drawbacks though, and Warthog’s was underestimating how powerful Hell really was. As he raced along the pathway, he suddenly jerked to the right to take a much more narrow route. The narrow route, like the rest of the plains, existed over a large body of lava and fire. Warthog’s bike began to raise as it started forward on its back wheel, a trick he’d learned to do a long time ago. His chains whipped about making a complete spectacle out of himself.
____ Something stirred in the blood water below.
____ Warthog continued on, racing forward when suddenly the ground began to rumble. He seemed perplexed, and brought the front of his massive bike down again.
____ “I know you’re here, show yourself!” He shouted, driving on.
____ The rumbling continued, intensified, until suddenly a long tentacle whipped out of the lava and struck the back of Warthog’s bike. He spun out of control, tumbling off and rolling for a few feet. He looked back just in time to see the tentacle pull the bike down into the lava.
____ “Is that all you got?” He screamed.
____ Three tentacles shot out of the lava. He managed to avoid the first two, but the third wrapped around his waist. It lifted him high into the air as he squirmed and wiggled. The other tentacles danced around as Warthog was pulled down into the lava.
____ “Noo! Gurghel gurg! Pop!” He sputtered out. The last thing he saw were teeth, and eyes.

____ “Let’s not go that way,” Deadhawk whispered.
