Here's a link (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2969347&postcount=1) to an old list of rules. Nothing much has changed.
The town's alignment this game is X-Factor while the mafia's alignment is Hel. Of course, those aren't the only alignments present. :devious:

Introduction:
A bald man in a dress watched from his invisible vantage point as the group of mutants gathered together outside the opening to Hel. The mutants stared into the long tunnel, dreading the task they were about to face. The eternal flames danced deep down in the bowels of the Earth as their light flickered across the mutants' somber faces. The bald man watched in anticipation as the scarred man in the trench coat rallied his troops, but before the mutants entered the caverns of Hel, reality flickered. It was imperceptible to the human eye, but the bald man couldn't miss it. The entire reality, save him, blinked out of existence for a split second. Refocusing on the mutants below, the bald man noticed that their ranks had swelled considerably. Faces from yesteryear joined their brethren on their journey. After the mutants had all marched themselves into Hel, a few wild cards shifted into existence and followed close behind. The bald man stared quizzically as the tunnels of Hel vanished before him. He was confident that he could find the mutants again, but it would take time. Navigating the Norseverse was always tricky. sstralkowski is temporarily lost. He was Uatu. Alignment: Watcher

Maybe it is just because I haven't picked up an issue of X-Factor since Peter David's government team, but I've got no idea why they are going into Hel. And wikipedia didn't seem to know, either.
Anyone know if this is based on an actual X-Factor story? Or is this likely something Stan just made up for the game?
Yes actual story, Hela was a client.

My favorite in Gremlins was coming up with Hulk Hogan for the Mafia... even Stan was like "Why Hulk Hogan?!?"
See... even Stan can be thrown for a loop occasionally
I got that role...
I should have figured it was your fault. Random role assignment my butthole!
But you know what?
I gave you Miley Cyrus in my last impromptu game. I was really hoping you'd have to claim, too.

Hmmm. Very tempting to get on the get 1 lynch train.
However, I like the other option just a little better.
Vote to lynch: JacinB.
vote: JacinB in order to accomplish something.
Just a note: In the last Stan game I played in, the threat of "do something or someone dies" was mostly just to motivate people to vote and talk.
I'd rather not claim on Day One as it'll likely make me a target (of course, I've played enough of these to just sort of assume someone's going to kill me tonight anyway), but if it's a matter of forcing me to do so in order to prevent someone else from dying today, I'm alright with doing it.
It'll have to be a little later today, though, as I really need to get this stack of work my supervisor needs done off of my desk (and I will miss some time tonight, too, as I'm taking my son's Cub Scout den bowling).
Oh, and ...

Yes, stan always makes that stipulation for day 1. And it usually gets people talking enough for him to qualify it as "getting something done". That does not mean the threat should be taken lightly though.

You know what else is interesting? JacinB leaving and saying he'll post more later.
To me, that's a subtle way of getting people to vote for Get, since we know JacinB wont be around to give us information so we will go with someone that is.
Very interesting.
I understand why IR started the vote on me (vendetta for his own silliness in another game), but two things I don't understand are why the rest of you are voting/voted for me and why others are voting for JacinB.

It wasn't anything with sinister intent, I assure you.
Like I said, though I'd really prefer not to, I'm willing to claim if it prevents someone from dying. However, as I think it'd make me a target, I'd rather not do so if simply generating discussion is enough to meet Stan's "do something" requirement.
And, with the "generating discussion may be enough to avert a mod-kill" idea (which is guided by previous experience in Stan's games and would both help the Town by generating information and by averting needless random deaths) in mind, I was thinking that if it's discussion we want, looking elsewhere would be a good idea because the time I can spend here today is limited and, thus, not much discussion can be generated.

We're easy targets?
(Price of fame, I suppose.)
The ones I find interesting aren't necessarily the ones that pushed for me early, but those that have come in and hopped on my train here later.
Venom is clearly claiming someone from the story, so I'm not doubting him (yet); I just assume he's not really paying attention.
But, Truffle's only activity has been to hop on and toss a vote at me long after the pressure had clearly changed to you. That seems a little fishy to me.
Get an avatar, JacinB.
The last time you didn't have one and we played in a game together, I remember one of us dying immediately because people "needed a way to stop getting us confused."

Makes you wonder how many schizophrenic/MPD men from TV and movies we'll have here. It would fit the "Multiple Men" theme, especially with Stan in charge. If Alpha from Dollhouse shows up, I will not be surprised.
Too bad Charlie Sheen's been fired, I'd expect him too.

I'm just defending Giggyex for not voting for Get_1 as there's no good reason for anyone to be on that train. I've played in Stan's games before and am not concerned by the threat of someone dying. I'm also not a fan of day one pressure because there is absolutely no valid information yet. Day two changes everything.
If you want to pressure Get_1, great, I don't care. We may even get some info.

Well, Giggy's vote completely confuses me. Does he want a power claim from Jason? Is there some other reason he's continuing pressure on Jacin? Or is it because he's new? Did he not see the claim?

Yeah... I don't recall people randomly dying for there not having been a lynch day one of either BoP game. Collect me if I'm wrong, but I believe the threat implies the mafia, SK, etc... will kill someone after the day ends.
I just don't believe the threat is real and that any suspicion kicked up on day one tends to play into the mafia's hands.

Truffle Shuffle
03/08/2011, 19:20
Okay, I'm pretty sure this is the deal. If we were to go no lynch, and no pressure is applied resulting in no discussion or information, then Stan -will- randomly kill someone. I believe that is how it goes. The fact that it hasn't happened in any of his games is because we always pressure, which leads to discussion and information. Stan is a huge supporter of pressure and being aggressive. It's his natural play style. He sometimes dials it down because it ends up getting him killed early in subsequent games. We don't have to lynch anyone, just pressure and discuss. Ergo the pressure. And get_1 knows this so I find it funny that he's being all "why?"
deadshot042
03/08/2011, 19:32
In that case, pressure has been applied, some information has been obtained, there is no longer a reason to heap votes on one individual.
No reason to distrust giggyex, just because he doesn't want to vote for the lead pressure subject. The fact that JacinB has already provided some help is a real reason, but I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt as a vote for JacinB is a crappy mafia play and a mistake I made as well.

Knowing Stan as I do, I would completely agree with this analysis. When I first started playing, Day 1 tended to be a bunch of No Lynch votes. Which would either end the day phase early or result in a few pages of worthless banter.
Stan's threat has never been exacted on us, because the threat is enough to garner discussion. That discussion has led to people slipping up and making bad fake claims. Or giving a power that doesn't fit the character. It's also helped to decide who to target during the night based upon how they respond to pressure or how and when they jump on a lynch train. I have found that the Day 1 discussion can prove very useful.

Night 1:
The battle raged as fists flew, weapons sliced and blood was spilled. And yet, the mutants worked together to prevent any major attrocities to their own. All in all, they'd done well, but how long would their luck hold out in this world of eternal suffering?
In a dark cavern hallway, a timid man crept along the shadows. He came to a chamber of sorts where a man was huddled over a fire. The man was wearing an ancient helm and a large cape that his long flowing hair rested on. "Oh thank the Lord," sighed the timid man. "I was afraid I'd never make it out of here alive. I don't belong here. I'm no warrior. Can you please keep me safe?" The large man by the fire smiled an evil grin, his grey and broken teeth absorbing the fire's light like tiny black holes. "Sure, have a seat," the large man motioned to a rock next to him, while still keeping his back to the timid man. The large man's sunken eyes blazed with a fire all their own as the timid man came within reach. The anticipation of what was to come had stirred something deep within him that he'd not felt in ages. The large man put his arm around the timid man. "No one can get to you here, brother. No one will know where you are." Noticing an odd tone in the voice, the timid man looked up from the fire and gasped when his gaze was met with the large man's bloodthirsty grin. Suddenly the duplicity of the large man's words occurred to him. He screamed in horror as the large man crashed his hammer down on the timid man's head, splattering grey matter all over the small chamber. The large man savored his feast. It had been so long since he'd eaten. He knew the meal would never sate his hunger, but he still took immense pleasure in the act. Morpheousdr3am3r is dead. He was John Madrox. Alignment: X-Factor
The shimmering figure appeared in front of the black haired person. She was bent over slightly and reaching for something. her blue glow bathing the cavern in a soothing cool light. Then she stood upright and began to speak. "Help me *skrrrkkkk* *kzzk* only hope." The shimmering woman glanced over her shoulder as if she was being followed and then bent down and reached out again before disappearing. The black haired person just stood there puzzled.
The fat man glided down the earthen corridors, an imperius look on his face. When he strode up to a slender man in a white coat, the man looked at him curiously. "What do you want?" asked the man in white. "Don't take that tone with men, knave. Do you not recognize the face of your king?" "I have no king, but if I did, he would certainly be more battle worthy than one such as you." *gasp* "I'll have you killed for such a slight." The man in white was sick of talking. He was still pumped up from the earlier battle and was ready for more. "blah blah I'm awesome blah blah" is all the man in white heard, and he wanted it to stop so he simply made it stop. Or more accurately, his swords made it stop. pbdeberry is dead. He was King Henry VIII. Alignment: Ex-Factor

I am reading that as Shatterstar killing King Henry.

Good catch.
Shatterstar would make sense as the Vig. I never read X-Factor if/when Shatterstar was on the team, but I do know that he was in a relationship with Rictor. That would make him a townie.
So we have a (potential) Vig hit.
We have Zombie Thor (Hel?) which could be a mafia hit.
No sign of the SK, though. Curious.

Shatterstar or not, I don't think that was our Vig. For one, most Vigs won't kill night 1 unless they've got a really good reason to do so; the chances of hitting a townie are too high with no real info. Also, based on the write-up, it looks like King Henry targeted Shatterstar (KH strode up to Mr. Whitecoat), so that makes me think it might actually be a PGO kill.
Or maybe I am reading too much into the details of the write up. If Whitecoat/shatterstar did make a kill, though, I am leaning more towards something more nefarious, like SK, just because I don't like the thought of a reckless vig.

That might actually make sense if King Henry VIII was the hitman for the Ex-Factor mafia last night.

Except that Stan's OP clearly states that mafia alignment = "Hel" and town alignment = "X-Factor". King Henry is aligned with "Ex-Factor" and therefore probably not mafia (neutral, maybe.)

Okay, fair point.
I just assumed when Stan said that there was a town and a mafia (Hel) and that "Of course, those aren't the only alignments present." (emphasis mine) that would mean that we're likely looking at a second mafia (you know, other than 'Hel'), too, with a few random Neutrals thrown in for the sake of confusion.

Well, there are 26 people to start the game. Could be a second, smaller mafia, much like Serpent Society and Gotham City Sirens from the previous games. Just look for a character with more ex-spouses than they have fingers on one hand. Or he could be a neutral.

Ok, first paragraph seems like perhaps more than one protector successfully protected the same person.
Second reads to me as thought a hider hid with the wrong person. And who would a hider hide with? Perhaps the only person to have claimed? Just a thought.
What is Princess Leia doing here and what does *skrrrk* *kzzk* supposed to mean? Static so we don't hear the name?

That's actually a pretty good point. Were I a hider, I'd probably duck into what I thought was Thor's room, given the claims we had yesterday, as I'd assume that to be pretty safe.
The thing is, though, that that would mean that zombie Thor was a PGO, too, as the likelihood of a zombie Thor being a hitter and targetting the person who just happened to duck into room with him is pretty slim.

No, I'm saying Zombie Thor is mafia. The hider hid with mafia, therefore was killed. That's usually how the role works. A hider hides with town they are safe for the night. They hide with mafia they are killed. ZThor did not target the hider. The hider unfortunately targeted mafia.

Jacin claimed as a specific Multiple Man, if I remember correctly, and given the appearance/death of another specific Multiple Man, I am inclinded to blieve him.
Did VDB actually claim Thor yesterday, or just hint? I'll have to go double check, but I know he was hinting at the very least... which might have been enough for Morph to want to hide with him if that is what went down.

Jamie Madrox is Multiple Man, yes.
Unless something has changed recently, most of the time his duplicates are also Jamie Madrox (same memories, personality, the whole deal...) but sometimes his duplicates, especially if they've been separate from him for a while, develope their own distinct personalities. They're still Jamie, more or less, but a different kind of Jamie.

Wow. Didn't even know this had opened, considering I'm not around these parts too much anymore.

2: I really would take Shatterstar as a PGO here. That being said, I think he's a limited PGO. It says he had been involved in an earlier scuffle or somesuch and that he just wanted this to make the fat king stop talking. Maybe he PGO's someone if more than ONE person targets him?
3: Charles is pinging my scum meter.
4: I would really like to have a name from JacinB. A name won't hurt, but that's what I really would want from him considering we just had a named dupe bite it.
5: I take 35 minute poops. Take that Get_1.

That's where John Madrox came from. Jamie was falling apart, losing control of himself and a lot of his dupes were starting to have much stronger personality traits.
So, he set out to go find them all...it was a painful process where he had to track them down and then absorb them, leaving the life and people they left behind no answers as they just vanished. Then he got to "John". John had a family and was a pastor. Jamie eventually let him be. Never to actually be whole again, as was his quest.
So. With most of them back now, I'd want to take a harder look at JacinB until further information is had.

1) Like Truff said, in the write-up, Thor ate the Madrox
2) Stan is a fan of zombies
3) There is an alternate cover to Thor #1, painted by Arthur Suydam, depicting Thor as a zombie (which is what came to mind when I read the write-up)

Okay, I'm all caught up.
To your points above, Charles. Stan being a fan of zombies does make me think that zombies could be in this game. I'm just glad the target died rather than get recruited into a zombie cult. That being said, Thor got stronger after eating John Madrox. So it could be a cult that can only recruit after a few kills have been made. Maybe Thor needs to get his strength up before he can recruit. Just a thought.
Ex-Factor seems plausible to me for Pax's alignment. I'm not going to vote right now, plenty of time for discussion. I'll add it later, closer to the end of the day.

As I said yesterday, I was told in my role PM that I'm the one with the beard.
The only time I can remember seeing Jamie with a beard is when Layla from the future came back, which would've been before the Hel storyline and (I think) after the storyline with John took place.
I said yesterday that it was the distinction in my role that made me pretty sure I wasn't the only one of me here. Morph's death last night confirmed that there are multiple versions of Jamie present.
Not sure what else you'd like for me to tell you beyond that or how much more clear I could be about it.

I think X-Factor is a far more plausible alignment for me to have. Think about the context.
You Donkey! /GordonRamsey
Then why would you cop as mafia? Are you a miller?
The votes are piling on. This is a good time to spill dem beans, bwah.

Well, if there were a Town member who'd be hated enough to show up as Mafia, Simon Cowell might well be him ...

Agreed. But I'd like to hear what Pax has to say. So far he is the best candidate for a lynch, but I have no issue with going back and voting for VDB like I did earlier in the day.
I find it to be a play style difference Quebbs, but I'm with you.
Though, since I've allegedly been copped, I'm guessing, since I didn't have time to submit an action last night, I'll just claim.
I'm Simon Cowell. My role is, and I paraphrase, to act like a smarmy dick. I can also do things at night, but I'll hold onto that for right now, but being a smarmy dick is apparently important, so, piss off please.
I greatly disblieve this claim.
I could see it.
I mean, if you were Zombie Thor rather than regular Thor, you'd want to play yourself off as regular Thor as he'd've been part of the Town in this storyline. Then, when you show up in the write-up eating people, you can say, "Verily, that's some evil-doer ghost-writing me as, look, I'm not a zombie Thor I'm a regular Thor, which I clearly claimed yesterday!"
Of course, that's probably the least likely explanation, which is why I'm not voting for you. Unless you eat someone else tonight.
Too risky. You'd need balls of steel to try something like that on Day 1.
Or balls of JackA.
