What is it that makes Nightcrawler and Bullseye so effective when paired together?

This is a rhetorical question, right? These guys are effective no matter who they are paired up with.

Hmm, I think there is more to it then that. Both are great figures when they are separate, but together, they are the foundation of a team that is really, really tough to beat. At least for me.

I've never used Nightcrawler, and I've only used Bullseye once, so I really don't have a feel for how they work. If people really are just saying, "Oh, those are both good figures, I'll just throw them together," and then winning, then I will be really disappointed. I imagine that good players actually looked at what each figure could do and figured out that the figures could interact in a way that would make them the basis of a very good team. That's what I want someone to opine on for me.

Both are very good.

Bullseye's minor weaknesses are getting swarmed, stealth (if he isn't Tbolting ultimates), and getting blasted from range if they can get the first shot in.

Nightcrawler lets you drag Bullseye's target out of Stealth, or stop the opponent from getting the first shot in, this also reduces the odds of the swarm making it to Bullseye in good shape.

Because Nightcrawler can reposition anything and anyone to be in Bullseye's LOF, and with the 8 point addition of tbolts and the choice of ultimates Bullseye can see and shoot anyone.

Lets look at the two finalist teams from last year's worlds when these 2 pieces weren't available.

Shazam
2x Jason Blood
2x Scarlet Witch

Metron
Thing


2 very strong teams right?

Now let's build a team around bullseye and nightcrawler. We'll make it theme so we have a chance to win map against the mystical theme.

Martial Artists
Bullseye + Tbolts
Nightcrawler
AA Question
LE Diana Prince
Val cooper pog

Your objects are the kinetic accelerator, shield disruptor, and a random light.

Now here's how you can demolish each of those teams with this combo. (this is assuming everything goes absolutely right for the player and I realize games are full of variables and that this team is not an automatic win)

Against the mystical team. You have choice of map so I'd assume you'd choose something with alot of hindering. Tbolt bullseye to mystics.

Basically you want bulleye to pick up the random light object with his sp and be within range of the shield disruptor. Nightcrawler is going to jump onto the kinetic accelerator.

I'm assuming your opponent is going to be attempting to activate his jason bloods. He really needs those perplexes to up his defenses and down your stats. You want to have nightcrawler zoom out to him and grab shazam. If you do it from a square with hindering terrain, it's now impossible for him to make you re-roll. If possible, get diana in range to perplex down his defense.

You hit shazam with NC and do 0 damage, darn. Now you need to drag him into bullseyes range. Ideally you'd like to be next to bullseye so he can use his object, but if you can't that's fine. If you are in range of the shield disruptor, you can use question to perplex down shazam's defense. If not, outwit his imperv. Bullseye takes a shot for 3, and now he has no move and attack and his only defense is shape change. He can try and roll 9's to hit nightcralwer now, or roll to break. If he does run, you run out, drag him back in bullseyes range and finish him off. From there it's all mop-up.


The metron/thing combo is harder because metron starts with perplex and will be making himself a 19 basically all the time., but it's the same basic thing. With a +4 you should win map easily. Pick something small like the prison that limits retaliation and lets nightcrawler roam free. You'll need to grab metron and place him next to bullseye(who is right by the shield disruptor). There, with the object bullsye has, and a damage perplex he can do 6 straight damage to metron, putting him on his last click with a 16 with SS. At that point question or Diana can finish him off and then it's just you vs thing. Bullsye probably pushed to click 2, so good luck hitting a 20 there Ben.


Basically Nightcrawlers ability to completely break up formations on two top tier teams that are really REALLY formation dependent (metron wants thing to take tokens off him. Shazam wants to stay near his PC) allow bullseye to take them apart. Later on both pieces depend on Shape change and SS to protect them, 2 things that Bullseye just flat out ignores.

Simply put, NC is able to "drag" or reposition any target of a successful attack when using Teleportation Evacuation. No characters are safe; Colossals, giants, duos, multi-base characters, transporters, and fliers can be repositioned. Paired with a trait that allows him to ignore characters and terrain on movement, his greatest strength is being able to flush out Stealthed characters and place them within range and line of fire to friendly attacks. As "icing on the cake," NC's BAMF! SP allows him to move up to half his speed when he evades an attack using Super Senses.

On a related note, Bullseye makes a great partner for NC, due to his Sharpshooter ability, Thunderbolts keyword, and range. When T-Bolted to Ultimates, he can hit Stealthed characters while adjacent or not, ignores hindering modifiers on ranged attacks, and can move without suffering from hindering terrain penalties. Bullseye's trait allows him to ignore Shape Change and Super Senses on targets, period.

Favorite Bullseye/Nightcrawler tactics:

Have NC "tag and drag" an opposing character within range of Bullseye, placing it behind another opposing character. Thanks to the :a-sharpshooter:, Bulls will be able to shoot through.
NC carries DC75th SR Batman or Superman onto elevated to allow the use of their traits (Bats: Free movement; Supes: Full L/C move and attack from elevated). Also, a grounded target with no damage reducers can be placed adjacent to R Triplicate Girl + Drag on the edge of elevated, or simply knocked off elevated by Force Blast.


Both have thMartial Artist keyword and are only 210 points with T-Bolts. Throw in a cheap MA character or two(HoT Ninja generic), and you have a keyworded theme.

How does he thunderbolt when he does not have the avenger team ability?

Alternate team abilities have recently been changed.

They now only work off of keywords, rather than team abilities. This means that a lot of old figures that have the keyword and team ability can tbolt to another TA AND still use their Avengers TA.
