View Full Version : HCRealms International
Although HCRealms.com is operated out of Atlanta, GA (USA), we are not blind to the fact that HeroClix is a global game, and that many of our members visit the site at all hours, and in all languages. In that sense, we've failed to provide a suitable home for multi-lingual discussion for the community.
That being said; We are actively looking to put an international flag into HCRealms, and are looking for those that are willing to oversee their language specific areas of HCRealms.
We have initially started this effort with the Groups By Country (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92) forum; which includes discussion for the following countries/states/areas:
Philippines (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92&prefixid=country_ph), Canada (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92&prefixid=country_ca), European Union (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92&prefixid=country_eu), Australia (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92&prefixid=country_au)
In Phase 1 of this effort; we will look at address country flag+prefixes to the forum; and expand it beyond that as needed ... with the eventual goal of having a mini-site for countries with enough players.

Had a History Teacher ask me this the other day. Where is Latin America?
Casting my vote to add a Latin America section to countries/states/areas, please.
Please be country-specific; EU will eventually be split out to countries (since this is as much about language as location).
Canada? "Pour le Heroclix en français, fait le un..."

I'm not sure what it entails, but if you need some french oversite, I can maybe help handle that. I'm a Frenglish Canadian.
The number of clixers in Germany isn't too bad, as far as I can tell.
There is also a pretty decent german forum in existance.
Apart from that, the Realms offer so much more that I wouldn't really mind pulling those german forum members over here! Many of those posting there are amongst other things held back by the "language barrier", though.
(another thing is that I've heard complaints about the realms registration process repeatedly. A handful of people I know just didn't manage to get an account here. For whatever reason...)
Please be country-specific; EU will eventually be split out to countries (since this is as much about language as location).
Um...if it's about language, I think Latin America will be fine as a singular section.
Y'know, because it's all Spanish.

Could you not call it Europe instead of the European Union? We in Norway feel left out.

Except for Brazil, which has maybe the largest representation of any Latin American country on the 'Realms. So that might not work so much.

Do what the rest of the world does and break the groupings down into "Latin America" and "Brazil." :p

The European Union thing, yeah. But we would like to be part of "HCRealms International"
A grouping of Europe just feels more natural to me than one EU.

Hey, you guys and Switzerland can just go form your own little Non-EU group in the corner! :p

Get 1 has a point. I assure you that a Honduran and a Colombian (both situated in Latin America) can understand each other readily. Now, if you throw Cuban Spanish into the mix, then I see where you could have problems communicating. The rest of Latin America pretty much can be grouped as one, though (along with certain parts of the US, such as Texas, California, Southern Florida, and Puerto Rico.) :p
Good discussion. :) I'm going to break out some countries tonight and get them added. "Europe" is really too wide range right now; but I do want to break out Germany and Spain initially; and we'll go form there based on requests.
As for Latin America, I think Brazil and Mexico is a good place to start. Thanks!

I am looking fourward to using my colourful spelling in the Canada neighbourhood.
We will eat virtual doughnuts and swap coupons that we got oot of the Tim Hortons website.
Canada is already in the system; but I need to figure out a way to split languages within a country.
I'll look at the Argentinian website, and go from there; I have no problem in adding it if you guys want to hangout here. ;)

Count us in Portugal too!
We have a very good and established data base of Heroclix players, who play a tournament at least once a month! We once were more than we are now, but now we're playing the game at a very regular rate!
Some of those players are registered members of the realms too! And play on the online leagues here!

I'm from the Philippines and fluent in Tagalog. What can I do for you?
I will happily oversee the English language section. I can also speak American English, Scottish English, Welsh English, Irish English, Australian English and many other types of English.

Well, I'm Cuban, and I have zero problems communicating with anyone else who speaks Spanish. Ask Carlos Mucha. He's Argentinian, and him and I can communicate just fine in Spanish. Sure, many Spanish speaking countries use different words for slang, tools, and everyday banter, but it's still the same language. I deal with this on a daily basis, because living in South Florida, I get clients from just about every Latin American country, and I often see interpreters have a hard time with certain terms, but nothing that is such a barrier as to hamper the ability to effectively communicate.

Best we'll get is Shuma-Gorath, his little brother.
My question (too add some purpose to this post), will we have area/their respective forum specific moderators to understand what's being said in places that don't speak english?

Why do you want to do this on a geographical point of view?
What about languages instead?
Do Brazil and Portugal need two sections? Or one is enough?
Are we French not friendly enough to share with French Canadians, Belgiums and/or Swiss peoples?
I'm from Brazil and I really like the idea.
We have a good amount of players here and a forum in portuguese.
I'm one of the judges in our forum and in my area too.
So, I really like to help this project.

First off.. My understanding is canadian french is a "butchering" of france french.
Second I think because if you regionalize it a little then you can find areas specific players whom you might be able to meet up and play some games with.
Just a thought. :)

Can I say....it's not at all clear how to search by country threads. There doesn't seems to be an option for it when you go to the 'Forums By Country' part of the forum- it just lists ALL of them with little flags next to them.
The only way I can find to search by country is to use the links in the OP of this thread.

Regarding the differences of language, theres' as much differences between French and Canadians as between English and American people...
Besides the differences of Language, what about a French Language section, with sub-sections for France, Canada, Belgium, instead of a section for each country.
