Nothing. Zip. Zero. There are 1 or 2 scheduled sealed events, the rest of the weaks are constructed team events. Any venue with any brains doesn't charge for people to play. Tourneys are to bring people in and get them buying stuff. Charging to play drives people away.

Sorry dude, but I disagree. I have never observed a negative impact on attendance from charging an entrance fee. Assuming it's a good venue, people will pay to play.

My regular venue is one of MANY in the general area (LA/Orange County) and the entrance fee is $6 for tournaments on Wednesday and Saturday, and there are typically 8-12 or more attendees. The venue also hosts Friday night tournaments which requires a weekly two booster buy in, and there is A LOT of participation. So, although there are many places to play in our area, people are willing to pay to play at Majestix because the venue owner does such a good job organizing and hosting, and because the crowd of players is so terrific.

EDIT: the Friday night tournaments are part of a ten week League format with official standings and some pretty sweet prizes at the end.

Hi Exodus147 just up the road in London we do a sealed at both CBC and L.A. Moods the first week the set comes out when everyone excited about the new hottness! But after that we do all sorts of other events for the rest of the LE's with no cost! The odd time we will do a sealed draft later on but, not often.

Unless the buy ins go to pay for additional prizes, usually given as store credit. Please don't insinuate that just because we charge a fee to play LE Prize supported events that we driving players away. Quite the opposite in fact.

Golden Age, 300 points:
Nightcrawler with Armor Piercing & Nanoarmor = 102 points

Dealers pick of the remaining 198 points in Martial Artists or X-Men keywords.

BFC it up with Deep Shadows, and Debris.

Deep Shadows gives you near permanent stealth.

Debris gives you another 6 mandatory objects. Imagine the wine you'll also have when your opponent sees nanoarmor and says "I play no objects" and you flip debris and say "you must play 3". Punch to the face!

NC just runs around popping everyone for at least 1 damage and if he ever gets hit - he either HSS or phases over to an unoccupied object and heals up 2. Yay!

138 ANW-7 Flash
87 BD003 Deadman
44 BB010 Jason Blood (AE to Etrigan)
29 BB007 Checkmate Knight (White)

You can push Deadman to his White Lantern teleport click to suck Flach back if need be. But with Flash carrying the Knight around (Enhancement, just remember she can't use it if Flash is carrying her while HSS'ing) and an AE'd out Blood Perplex'ing/PC'ing as needed Flash (with his Perplex) can hit hard. Not to mention if you push the Knight once she can start Outwitting.

I have to disagree with this. When my old venue started to do this (which I was initially opposed to), the days we had a fee actually had an increased attendance over the days we didn't have a fee. We finally just did a fee for all events. Now, the fee goes towards prizes, so everyone who attends gets a prize. I do agree that charging a fee without getting additional prizes isn't a good idea.

I'd probably use this. Just came up with it after seeing Termin8rs.

WL Flash
Deadman
Jason Blood w/ Etrigan
Night Nurse
Dynamostat, Telephone Booth, SIF
Preferably Arkham or Prison if I can get them!

Tbooth and Vine in a room far enough from my starting area with the Dynamostat blocking entrance off. Deadman phases into the room and places Jason Blood onto the Booth. Next turn, Deadman pushes to phase out of the room and drop off Etrigan for the Flash to use. Flash does his thing with Etrigan's help. Turn 4 Deadman phases back into the room with Night Nurse. Suck Flash back when necessary and heal him up. Most likely will use the booth the get Deadman to his 3rd click so he can TK the Dynamostat out of the way for Flash to get out of the room.

What ya think?

The LEs are part of the Prize Pool also.

So for six players the pool is :

LE
LE
$10 certificate
$10 certificate
$5 certificate
$5 certificate

Top player gets first pick, etc.

Everybody gets a prize.
When the LEs are good, the top four players get a good prize.

All stores that charge a fee should follow this model.
