During this process we will be issuing 250 "Key Pairs"; one for you, and one for a friend (because you'll need someone to play with!).

HeroClix Online is Windows Only

First, we need to determine who is interested (and has the time) to play HeroClix Online! To do this, I have added a Profile Field (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile) that asks "Would you like to participate in the HeroClix Online Beta?". Just check the box, and I will use one of the following criteria to select participants:

- Adamantium Donors
- All Donors (Random)
- Top Posters
- Membership Date (Veterans)
- Top Traders
- Easter Eggs
- Random Selection
- HCRealms Staff Pick

Additionally, the following RealmWorx projects will also be issuing keys!
- GridReality (Random)
- ClixCast (Listen For The Code!)
- Articles; User Comments from this week's articles!

Our goal is to have all the keys issued ASAP so that we can start testing and make the best product possible! Let's play this weekend!

There is no "order of importance" there; it's just a list of the pool we will be selecting from. :) I think in the end you'll find that everyone who is a long-standing (and upstanding) member of the community and is interested in participating in the Beta will have the opportunity.

What OS is this supporting? Do you need Windows XP/Vista/7 users equally?

My main computer is a crappy laptop running XP and an Intel integrated graphics chip. It would be the one I would play on, so if HCO isn't intended to be able to run on technology that old and limited I will uncheck my beta box.

My buddy and I have been playing clix forever, but don't out to plat toureys becaue we are bot older and have families. We've been waiting years for online clix and would be appreciative for the chance to aid in the beta development. We are both older, late thirties-early forties, educated, and would be willing to offer clear and concise feedback concerning the online experience as well as any early bugs.

I'm not sure if anyone can answer this, as I believe anyone who gets a key has to abide by the non-disclosure agreement the first beta wave did.

I am so curious as to the system requirements. I recently download Magic in anticipation of Heroclix online since I figured they would be similar. Magic has very modest system requirements. I wonder if wizkids is going the same direction so they can get the biggest user base. those screen shots look sweet!

Keys are being issued as I type this ... and if you select someone that's already a part of the beta, then you can invite someone else (I'll let you know; at least for the keys that I'm issuing).

We have already issued 50 keys (excluding friend keys that haven't been requested yet). I'll be doing this most of the day and through the weekend; so don't loose hope; there's still tons of opportunities; including the Random and Easter Eggs that will start this weekend. Be sure to Opt-In!!! :)

I'm pumped about this! I've had to cut back on tourneys since work killing my evenings and a whole tourney eats up most of the one day that I have to do stuff. But online, 1hr a night? I am so there!

I'm definitely curious about the UI on this app too. I think the ring I saw is for selecting fixed camera positions, but I'm not sure. That might actually be a welcome departure from a free camera that can be fussy. Also want to see how they handle action/free-action selection in a game with as many options as HC (Example: Boxed-up HoT Venom or SI Iron Man could have a drop-down that spans half the screen). Is there clever pruning to cut out the inappropriate options, a graphic shorthand, an intricate series of birdcalls, etc?

So yeah, I'm a nerd.

Sadly, I haven't been very active on the Realms as of late. :disappointed:

At first I was skeptical of the idea, but looking at the write up, the prospect of an online version of the game seems practical. I like my venues opponents, but after so many games, I got a feel for their style of play and started to reorganize my own to counter their strategies. With the opportunity to play other players from around the world, the chance to really hash out my own strategies would be a welcome.

Im really anxious to see how the rules will be applied within the game. For instance will the rules be shown clear enough for someone who is new and learning strictly online, to know why they are able to move 4 or 5 spaces and than make a close combat attack using Charge..

What im saying is Will a beginner be able to learn to play the game strictly online and than crossover into an actual Live game at a comic shop and not skip a beat.

Either way those pics look awesome and this is very exciting stuff.

This will be a nice replacement for WoW getting a little burnt on that one, and since I dont have the time to make all the events at the local venue this will be a great addition the Heroclix world.

As for chat Ventrilo can be a great program to use to chat with each other while playing.

How exactly have you been "active" I mean aside from reading? Its been two years and you couldnt get ahold of the admins and get it straightened out sooner? Typhon and the other admins are great at fixing problems around here.

While disappointing, there are a lot of ways around this that many Mac users are currently using, such as boot camp, vmware, parallels. While I wouldn't want to do any hyper-intense graphical gaming using these options (which is why I passed on DCUO), HCO is probably perfect to test using the various mac -> windows options.

Well, it look awesome with figures and map on 3D and sound effects etc etc. The "thing" is that for sure you will have to pay figs like in real life.

But the play by roll in the Fantasy Leagues are awesome too.

While disappointing, there are a lot of ways around this that many Mac users are currently using, such as boot camp, vmware, parallels. While I wouldn't want to do any hyper-intense graphical gaming using these options (which is why I passed on DCUO), HCO is probably perfect to test using the various mac -> windows options.

There is no "order of importance" there; it's just a list of the pool we will be selecting from. :) I think in the end you'll find that everyone who is a long-standing (and upstanding) member of the community and is interested in participating in the Beta will have the opportunity.

I'm as loyal a clixer as ever there was, but I'm new to the realms :-( I've played heroclix since It was demo'd! Heck I even recruited a friend to the game just because we wanted both the promo batman and the promo spiderman we got for participating in the demo.

Since then I have recruited 17 other friends into the fold. The most recent one being yesterday, day one of hero clix, trained him up on a teen titan team, over the course of 2.5 hours then drug him to the local hobby shop for a tourney, he won fellowship troia and now plans on purchasing a brick of GSX and attending every week!

Please don't discount us realms noobs who have a lot of experience when it comes to clixing and are dedicated to recruiting more active players :-D

Would love to try out the beta on this, but understand if I don't get a shot at it. Probably 90% of the people on the forums are hoping for a chance, and there are going to be some disappointed people. Either way, I hope the game gets all the bugs worked out of it in time for the full release. It's very disappointing when you eagerly anticipate the release of a game and when you purchase it you find it to be full of bugs. I'd rather wait a few more months for a non-buggy release than pay good money for a lousy game.

id like to get into the beta. though... i know i dont have a hopes prayer in it. i can dedicate as many hours as you'd like. within reason in comparison to work that is. either way, once the game goes live, i should be right there too. Like to see how the polished product turns out

The Game look awesome! all in 3D with 3D Maps and figs, you can move the camera but it get time to get used to.
All is very clear, unfortunatelly look like it is very slow depending your computer.

There is some bugs but that is normal, we can't figure out how to carried (or make it work) and look like the duo attack may not be working yet, and small things like that, but that is normal in a beta, it look like fun, but I think you will need a good PC to make it fast and really enjoyable :)

How do you choose who you play against? Do you need someone on another computer? Does the game pair you up against another Beta? Did you pm a friend ad say hey wanna play a game? How did it interface?

Not that limited. LE's, Chases, objects, and a Fantastic Four Starter set are also available. You can buy a LOT more than one brick with what you start out with.

So you spend the price to get the figure? Your figures are saved somewhere I assume. That's cool. You can do sealed? Like can you open boosters and your opponent see who you pulled? Can another player view you opening boosters and vice versa? Man I want to try this out. Can you post somemore pics?

No idea how HCO is going to work, and not sure if this has been suggested yet, but one thing I would like to see is a random team generator that would be free to use. This would be a function where you could select a point total and an Age (Modern, Golden, Silver?), and the program would select for you, a random group of Heroclix figures to use for the next game. This would be a one time use kind of thing, so when the game is over those figures disappear and each time you use this option, you would get a completely different group as your team.

This would let players try out the game, without having to invest any extra $ to buy online figs or boosters or whatnot. But it wouldn't allow the player to own those specific online figs, just use them for that single game. It would also be a cool challenge to players who want to test their in game skills, when forced to use a team that they did not build (opponent likewise).

Just my 2 cents. I hope this is already part of the plan though.

It's one of the factors (a weight/tie-breaker of sorts) across the multiple options. All donation levels are being pulled up and the top posters and most veteran members are being selected initially; then we do a random within each donation level. We're trying to get a good mix of people so all aspects of the community are represented (this includes new members/lurkers with low post counts).

There will be ~150 more keys going out today; so be sure to check your PMs!
