View Full Version : The Crow and Mr Freeze
Ok, here are a couple of my conversions. I'd welcome criticism, but please, at least but please try to be constructive!
I also have The Tick and Poison Ivy completed, but as yet, no photos. If people are interested then let me know and I'll post them.
Please bear in mind that the photos show the figures 2-3 times their actual size which can make the paint jobs look scruffier than they look 'in the flesh'. Honest. :)
Anyway, here they are:

wow they both look awesome. i'd love to see your poison ivy!! i've been thinking of what to use for her.
what did you use for the crow?
Hi,
Thanks for the kind words. The Crow started out as a T.O. Morrow, but he's had a head graft from a plastic rpg figure (which in turn had a helmendectomy and a serious hair transplant courtesy of Milliput). The whole thing has had some painstaking file and scalpel work and odd little details added (some of which, like the silver buttons on the trousers can just be seen). Overall, I'm happy with it. :)
I'm currently finishing off Arthur (The Tick's sidekick) after which I'll probably start on Deadshot.
Best,
Mike

That Mr. Freeze is one of the best mods I've seen yet. Who are you making the Tik out of?
The Tick is done - he used to be a Captain America (just look at that shoulders to waist ratio - perfect for The Tick!). I filled and filed to change the lines of the mask around the face, removed all the non close-fitting bits (gloves, boots, wings, shield - that kind of thing), and added antenna. Finally I used Milliput to add the all important chin extension (I seem to be getting a lot of practice at these - I put a Brian Bolland-style chin extension on an E Joker and painted it in the actual colours the Joker wore in "The Laughing Fish"). Anyway, he just wouldn't be The Tick without that excessively bechinned look!
When I can I'll get photos of The Tick, Arthur and Ivy and post them too, if there's interest.

Mike

Yeah, definate interest! I don't know if you've seen, I've got a set of Tick mods too:

I'd like to see what someone else has done with it. From the Crow and Mr. Freeze your work looks like quality stuff; very detailed.
Have we used the same figure for Arthur? :) Doc Ock, right? I'm just finishing my Arthur off so I can enter him in a local customising competiton, but when I get him back I'll post photos. BTW really like your Der Fleidermaus!

Yep! Doc. Oc. My friend and I joke that he get's a lot of mod action as the only pudgy supervillain.
I'm really dying to see how you dealt with Arthur's wings.
The recipe? Well, that would be...
Take one DC Criminal figure. Remove arms. Reattach arms in new positions. Remembering to remove one supurfluous gun.
File down and raised areas that are inappropriate. Build up chest with Milliput and add collar. Milliput 'piping' around joints.
File down scarf over head, making sure that the head retains a smooth 'bald head' look.
Detail gun to make it look less like a modern automatic and more like the one used in the animated series.
Form a clear plastic dome by shaping heated plastic over a built up former.
Repaint figure. Glue on dome. Produce dial. Glue new dial to disc. Assemble. Thank whatever diety you may worship that all that's over at last! :D

Mike

Those are great mods, especially the Crow. Very nice :)
Thanks for the complement.
One further addition to the recipe:
Make a back pack oxygen cylinder from thin wooden rod. Insert a metal disc in the top end to look like a valve. Put sticking plasters over the punture wound where you spike your fingers on the first three attempts to fit the disc... :)

Mike
