I am new to this game and I was wondering if a character can pick up an object adjacent to him if he is also adjacent to a opponent. The opponent is also adjacent to the object. Can the character pick it up and attack in the same round? Does picking up a object count as a move action? Would you have to roll breakaway then? Thanks.

Ahem.....

Picking up an object is done during a move action. In this case, you would have to roll a breakaway to pick up the object. Since you pick up the object during a move action, you cannot attack with it until your next turn, unless the character has Charge (for a CC action) or Running Shot (for throwing the object).

I hope this clears things up....

it is a move action to pick up an item they cant pick up an item and attack in the same round unless they have hypersonic or charge also from hcrealms.com's faq page

A charging character with Super Strength cannot pick up an object as he/she comes into a square adjacent to an opposing character

Yes and yes.

Long answer: To pick up anobject a person is standing on, you must first move into base contact, which immedeately stops your movement. On your next turn, you must make a breakaway roll to pick up the object. Unless you have Charge, you must wait another torn at least to use the object.

To destroy an object, you must do 3 damage to it. It does no damage to any character standing on it. You then replace the object token with a rubble token. (hindering terrain)

I think thats correct...

also from www.heroclix.com

An opposing figure is standing in a square “on top of” an object token (not carrying the token.) Can a figure with super strength or Telekinesis pick up or move the object out from under the opposing character? Yes, you can TK the object away or pick it up with Super Strength. Nothing happens to the figure that was standing "in" the object.

also i dont know if this is true but either way its pointless...
the only reason to do this would be to eliminate the hindering terrain wich obviously doesnt work

It also gets rid of the object so tha a SS character can't use it...

Sounds right.

But I wanted to point out a mistake I played with ... once a (superstrength) character picks up an object, that object can not be targeted until: (1) the object is used, or (2) the character looses superstrength and is forced to drop it.

Why is this important? My Herc once lost his trash bin to an angry Cyclops. :p

Yup, forgot that point. Although the 3D Dumpster is the only object that sticks around after it is used.

This forum answers questions quick. So picking up an adjacent object counts as a move action. I have a question about charge though. The rules say that a charging character cannot pick up an object as he comes into a square adjacent to opposing character. But if you pick up a object adjacent to you and your opponent roll breakaway and charge that seems to apply to the rule I mentioned as well. I hope I am making sense. Am I wrong on this?

That ruling applys to moving into base contact (which immediatly stops movement), not when you are already in base contact and succesfully make a breakaway role.
