I'm confused about line of fire when your character is in hindering terrain. If my player is in a bush with def. of 17 does that mean that a ranged combat will have to total 18 because of the bush? Also, does the also apply to BtB combat as well?

Part 2:Does this +1 also add on if you are doing a ranged combat out of a bush?

Line of fire is never drawn for close combat. You simply need to be adjacent (which hindering terrain doesn't modify).

Yes, a Def 17 character is targetted as if they've got 18 when the LOF passes through a bush, including a bush they're standing in.

If you're making a ranged attack while standing in hindering terrain, ignore the square you're standing in when determining whether or not the LOF passes through hindering. So assuming a bush only one square large and no other hindering, there's no penalty for shooting out of it.

Sound good?

For the first part, yes. You get a +1 if the LOF crosses Hinfering Terrain. If you are B2B, you are not doing a ranged attack and do not get the +1, unless you are a flying chracter using a ranged attack while B2B.

No. If the only hindering terain crossed is the in the same square as the attacker, it does not add a +1.
