Dear WizKids,
I really favor the motion to produce some new ADVENTURE KITS for the HeroClix game. They are very fun additions to the game.
I understand that producing company-specific sets like Metropolis, or the Daily Bugle perhaps is too rigid, and that creating more generic scenes/maps proves wiser in the long run as they can be used by fans of both sets or even in mixed play, however I feel that though the previous ADVENTURE KITS were nice, they are products with great potential.
I feel quite confident in saying that many players out there felt a little cheated with these sets costing around $15 a piece for the map, the scenario cards, and the four 3D objects. For $20, one can buy a Starter Set and get so much more… Perhaps the key to stretching the life of the ADVENTURE KIT is to make them closer to $20 but adding more fun, applicable features. Here are some ideas:
SCENARIO CARDS
The idea was good, but the execution was a little flawed. How about some more “campaign” style scenarios that are all interconnected. I believe that this style of play is referred to as a “tree” – where there is one over all goal and many small scenarios that form a sort of storyline. Each Scenario card can detail the specifics of the battle, like Indoor/Outdoor Map, Time Limit, Special Rules, Goals, etc.
MAPS
I feel that one particularly interesting and interactive idea is that the included 2-sided map could feature two settings specific to the scenarios. Battle 1 may require the players to use the Outdoor map included in the ADVENTURE KIT (say a Military Base), while later on, Battle 4 may require the Indoor map (how about a Hidden Mountain Lair) included in each kit. The other scenario cards included in the kit will suggest Indoor or Outdoor maps so that both DC & MARVEL fans can use any maps they’ve acquired in other WizKids products.
OBJECTS
Similar to the original ADVENTURE KITS, I feel that the 3D objects were a real plus and should definitely be included. The pack can include perhaps 6 different pieces, native to the maps included. Some pieces can even be critical to an individual scenario itself, say a computer, or an artifact of some sort. Also included could be a sheet of cardboard tokens similar to the Starter Set tokens. These could help with other specifics, say if a gem was intricate to a scenario, a simple disc token with a picture of a gem could be used as well. Non-standard sized tokens could be done easily, like a 2X3 car, and could be included.
