Time for a brand new set and a new series of games to celebrate them for Gargantua and I.
As far as the game construct goes we have 5 series of 1000 point games followed by a finale using all figures from those 5 games. As usual we get 8 figures on board at a time (multiple figures like Madrox count as 1) and replace as they fall. Throughout the series we can each any feat twice. We've added a mechanic we've used before---'Crazy 8s'. In this game it works this way: make an attack roll. If it's an 8, complete the action. Then roll an 8 sided die. Your figure exchanges with the opponents figure equaling that rolled number (with any action /damage tokens on it). Each game with we both will have a team leader, that figure alone cannot be switched (Professor X and Magneto are among them). At each games end the 'exchanged' figures go into a pot and are divided up, winner getting first choice, if it's an uneven number that final figure goes to the winner.
Our story posts reflect a kind of Age of Apocalypse type of world where two mutant leaders (Magneto for Gargantua, Xavier for me) war with their own factions of mutants and mutant-sympathizers. This allows us to focus on mutant characters while throwing in non-mutants.

"I love it when he gets all military," Deadpool giggled.
"D'you see anything in your cards, Tarot?" Cannonball asked.
"I see death and destruction," she said.
"Uh, for us or them?" the Scarlet Spider asked.
"Both. But foreknowledge of the ultimate victor has been denied to me."
"Ain't that always the way," the Human Torch said. "You're sure you're not just telling a little white lie to keep us all from running for the hills?"
"Johnny!" the Scarlet Witch scolded him.
"What? It could be!"
"It doesn't matter. If it is my fate to die here today, I will die for the cause," Gladiator said. "But I don't think I will."
"Good. The rest of you should have the same confidence," Cable said. "We can beat these guys. We will beat these guys."

"Nice to see you as leader of this troop, Betts," Rogue says placing an arm around Psylocke, "Ah hope it works out better than that Siege Perilous thing."
"Everyone survived that, right?" Psylocke assures.
"Barely, mon chere, barely," Gambit says.
"Look at them...joking with each other when we got a foll war on here," notes Black Cat.
"Kinda relaxes you, doesn't it?" Gee asks.
"I'm ready to knock some heads open myself," Juggernaut says.
"Rest assured, your might will be required here today," Dr. Strange says omniously, "Be prepared to battle friend and foes alike, X-Men."
"I have no friends," Danger says, "Only my programming places me here."
"That's be me," Cypher says, "I'm your programming and you're darned right you'll be here!".
"That's telling her, Doug," Karma says to her fellow New Mutant.
"All this banter is well and good," Northstar says, "But I'm a speedster, when will I get to see some action?".
"Well Jean-Paul," Psylocke says, "How about now?".

So all of my team borrows Johnny's FF ability in addition to the X-Men ta thanks to Cypher.
Strange rolls for perplex: 5. He ups his dv to 20 and uses the X-Men ta as well as defend. Not that it matters this turn.

I'm really enjoying these games. It's definitely not a quickie kind of thing, though. Man, do you do that stealth trick a lot....
Strange rolls for perplex: 5. Nice. Gee tks him to E19. With his seeing thru stealth he targets Wanda and Cable. Ups his damage to 5. Rolls 5. Tough call. That's enough to hit Wanda for 5 but not to hit Cable. Wanda could reroll but at the potential of hitting Cable....I'll have to check with you here.

"First thing first, let's remove their random element," Psylocke says looking to Dr. Strange.
"Already in the works," he replies.
He meets the Scarlet Witch on the astral plane. "What am I doing here, Stephen?".
"Meeting your defeat. Consider it an honor that I am so impressed by your power Wanda, that I need to deal with you first."
"I think you'll find my chaos magic harder to conquer than that," she replies setting up a mystical defense.
"It's a good thing he's not alone," Psylocke says as she strikes Wanda in her armored form with a psychic knife stunning her.
Dr. Strange takes her down with a blast.
"Forgive me Wanda, truly I respect you."
"Indeed," Betsy says, "But now we've others to attend to."

Stupid Doctor Stupid Strange. Sitting there with his stupid 20DV Defending with Black Stupid Cat waiting there to stupid PC my attack rolls. Grr.
Sorry. Just looking at this with a "how the hell am I supposed to deal with this?" kind of frustration. Okay, step back a second. If I can't necessarily hit Strange right off, I can deal with the second part of that problem.
Ahab RS to N13 to hit Black Cat, AV9 on DV17. Gets 7. Tarot says 7.
Cannonball grabs Scarlet Spider. Transporter Move & Attack to H15 to attack Black Cat, AV10- 2 on DV17 +2. And he gets a 2. Last thing I needed. Yet somehow appropriate when attacking the Black Cat. He ends in I14, with SS in H15
Incidentally, I never chose Deadpool's SP. I'll give him the RCE and CR combo.

"They're guarding Strange," Cable frowned.
"Perhaps we should deal with the Black Cat then. I don't like her bad luck powers," the Goblin Queen suggested.
"I think I got a fish in here somewhere," Deadpool said, patting his pockets.
"Not that kind of...oh never mind," Ahab gave up and rounded the corner, throwing his energy harpoon at the Black Cat. She leapt gracefully over it.
"Come on, Ah'll give you a lift," Cannonball said, grabbing the Scarlet Spider. With that he blasted off at the Black Cat. The Scarlet Spider had to pull up his legs to avoid hitting a cotton candy machine. The shift in his weight threw off Cannonball's trajectory and he ended up crashing into one of the carnival game booths instead.
"I love my job," Felicia giggled.

With one hit Juggernaut destroys him. "OUTGOING!" he says.
"Mon dieu, you are a one-man wrecking ball, aren't you, Juggy?" Gambit asks irreverently.
"Keep talking like that so I can have good reason to smack the smirk right outta ya."
"Now now boys, ah reckon we got enough on our hands without infighting, kay?" Rogue says trying to catch Cannonball off guard but to no avail.
"From one southern born to another, Rogue, you sure ain't no lady," he says.
"Ah'll take that under advisement, shugah."

"Juggernaut," Cable grumbled. "What have I got that I can deal with him?" he asked himself rhetorically as he selected an attachment for his gun. He fired off a small missile that blew up when it struck Juggernaut's chest. "Don't let up!" Calbe ordered.
"I will not," Gladiator said, beams flashing from his eyes, striking the Juggernaut with enough power to sink a small island.
"And leave it to me, I'll finish him off!" the Human Torch said. "This one's for Spidey!"
"They may have hurt me," the Juggernaut growled. "But you? I don't think so."
"Oh fine," the Human Torch sulked.

"Uh-oh," Cannonball says.
"Sorry shugah," she says kissing Sam really quickly and handing him over to Juggernaut, in the process stealing his powers so he's vulnerable.
Juggernaut blusters through him. "Thanks Rogue, now's he's hardly worth the trouble."
"Save it for Gladiator, then," she says.
Karma reaches into Gladiator's mind to pull out his darkest fear: Phoenix.
"Away Phoenix! This time, I'll defeat you!".
Cable undoes Karma's work. "Nice try, kiddo, but you'll need to work harder to get the jump on me."

The yellow areas are indoor terrain on an outdoor map. You'd count the yellow lines as blocking terrain. So Karma doesn't really have LOF to Gladiator where she is. From H23 she could manage it looking straight through both openings, but not from where she is. But then Gee wouldn't really have LOF to TK her there. We'll let it go. With all the movement that's going to go down, they probably won't both be the same place by the next time anyway.
Not much I can accomplish without pushing. Tarot to O13. That's a push, but Ahab needs her LOF.
Ahab on Black Cat, AV9 on DV17. Gets 7. Rerolls for Tarot, gets 6. Guess she wasn't that much of a help after all.

Tarot was using PC and could have used it on Northstar's attack. Reroll would have been 9. Still hits, but only for 2, so no KO. Also Ahab's Toughness makes Gambit's Damage 2 and no damage from the KB,
You've pretty well dictated most of my moves. Goblin Queen on Jean-Paul, AV9 on DV16. Gets 6. Tarot makes it 10. Danger can't help. 2 to Northstar after Toughness.
Cable has to try to finish him, AV10 on DV15. Gets 9. Stealth, so again no help from Danger and he's KOd.
Deadpool Perplexes his Damage to 3 and attacks Danger, AV11 on DV17. Gets 7. Stealth again. With his RCE that's 3 to Danger after Invulnerable.

Strange rolls for perplex: 6. Sometimes I think the die roller gets stuck. Just don't want it stuck on 2s like the Old/New Gods game.
Can Karma mc Gladiator? Only needs a 5, gets 7. Should I have him come out of hiding or hit Cable? The latter...needs 7, rolls 8. Sweet. Cable takes 5 after toughness, avoiding all those messy imperv and regen clicks, 6 total this turn so he's on his 7th click now. If we keep Cable/Deadpool and Gambit/Rogue respectively should we consider using the duos instead at the end?

I have dominated the first two games. I really think the lack of pc hurt the first game for you.
I drafted Gee so Psylocke could be only a back-up tker, now she's relagated to that spot and that means she doesn't get to see action. That's not Psylocke for me.

You know, I know I'm doing well at these games. It almost makes me nervous. Like I need to get aggressive about characters picks in drafts and re-drafts. I mean, you could have all the killers pieces for the finale. Then I think, WTF, this is all for fun.

Johnny goes ee on Gob Queen. Rolls 11. It's a grand thing, this. With his sp as it is it does 2 to Gambit and 2 to her.
Black Cat to N13, more a distraction than anything else.
Strange rolls to hand out incap tokens to Cable and Gladiator. Rolls 7. That pushes Cable for 1 with a token/click. Gladiator just takes a token.
Doug makes Rogue's damage 4. She'll charge to M13 going for Glady. Needs 6, rolls 8. He takes 2. She swaps with Gladiator....normally this would be a good move but considering how much I beat him up....

So far I haven't run into any problems but I suspect I will...let me know how you're doing it.

I automatically exclude any ineligible figures, Leaders, KOd guys. Or I did, on what was I think the one time I rolled an 8. Haven't actually gotten a lot of those and when I do, it's with the guys who're immune.
Johnny can't use his EE if he's based. He can't make any ranged actions when based. So Gobline Queen takes the 2, but not Gambit.
Gambit to Break from Black Cat. Gets 3. Has to attack her then, AV9 on DV17 +2. Gets 3.
Ahab on Gladiator, AV9 on DV15. Gets 6. With Psychic Blast, 2 more to him, and he's really little more than a glorified pog now.
Rogue will pick up Black Cat's Combat Reflexes.

Funny thing is I now officially don't have a single original person on my team.
Gambit with his Cajun Charm Perplexes Black Cat's DV down to 16 and tries to Flurry her. AV8. Needs 10s. Gets 4. Second roll is a 10, but Black Cat gets to reroll it. Gambit gets another 10, and doubles at that. He is one lucky Cajun, he is. 2 to Black Cat, Knockback to M13 where she hits the wall for 1 more.

Okay, I guess I'm ready to concede on this one. If Strange were still on his first click, it'd be worth playing out more, but you having knocked him off of it, and me having to pass this turn, I think it's time.
So the figures that ended the game (or were KOd) on the opposite side were:
Johnny Storm, Rogue, Gladiator, Ahab, Karma, Dr. Strange
We never really determined how to choose who picks first, but it strikes me that as the victor of the game you deserve the spoils. We normally build in some kind of bonus for the winner of each individual game for when we get to the final, and we didn't do that this time. This could be it.

I have a few respect for Ahab. He's good. I have a soft spot for Rogue who wasn't nearly as good for my team as Johnny but she's in.
Remember for the finale, I think we can option to use duos as separate or vice versa as long as they cost the same or less than the original cost. Ex: Gambit and Rogue are 90 and 128 or 218 total; their duo is 172 so I could use them.
