Shield Deflection

Ok, I just need confirmation on this one. If i have a hovering figure, and it is base to base with another fig, do i still get Energy Shield Deflection since i still get Long Range Expert( not counting hindering terrain of course) since hovering characters are still considered to be at range even at base to base?

yes and no

yes if the b2b fig with flying decides to use a ranged attack

no if the b2b fig decides to make a close combat action

just look at deathbird she has rce and bcf

if she uses rce you get bonus

if she uses bcf no you dont
