2 Quickies about mind control:

PAC:
MIND CONTROL. This character may make a ranged combat attack to give an action to an opposing figure.

1)As mind control is considered a ranged attack, can it be used when base to base with an opponent?

FAQ:
# The damage from the critical hit and the knockback (if there is damage) is applied before the target of Mind Control is assigned an action.

2)If I'm MCing an opponent that is at the edge of my range(let's say 10) and I roll a 12, Thus generating knockback of 1 square due to the 1 damage. Now the opponent is at 11 squares, can I still control him?

I would say yes on both accounts.

Mind Control is either a Close Combat or Rnaged Combat Action.

1) If you are base-to-base... use Close Combat. No Line of Fire needed... and no chance of anyone declaring Energy Shield/Deflection to add a +2 to your roll.

2) Well, yes... you've already made the attack, so even if he is knocked back out of Range... you still get to give him an action, as normal.
