Rules... stolen from other people and modified too much to give them any credit.

-There are players, factions, and objectives. Each player has their own win condition or conditions. Sometimes those align with other players’ objectives, sometimes not. Either way, the game will end when all players left standing can meet the same win condition. See, ain’t that better than defining Town, Mafia, friendly neutrals, and unfriendly neutrals. Good, glad you agree.

-If more than half the players vote for the same player during the day (i.e. Majority), that player is lynched and is removed from the game. You should bold your lynch votes so that I don't miss them or think you are kidding. You can vote for anyone but chances are nothing will happen if you try to lynch someone who isn't playing. You can also vote for a No Lynch, but some mods will remove a random player from the game to ensure that the game doesn't stagnate if no player is voted off. If you feel like leaving a vote with someone, you can say Leave Vote with: Player X. You cannot "leave with majority".

-Don't do these 3 things: Quote your role pm or the role pm of anybody else, talk about this game outside of this thread even via pm unless you are pming a mason teammate or a mafia teammate, and don't edit your posts. If you do one of these 3 things, you may be modkilled to ensure the game's fairness. I'm a stickler for these. You see how it says 'may'? Assume may = will.

Raven's personal notes:
-Phases during the week will last 24 hours. I will post the deadline for votes to be accepted. The thread may not close exactly at that time, but no votes will be counted after the deadline.

-weekend phases will be approximately 36 hours with some variation depending on my schedule. Again, there will be a posted deadline.
All deadlines posted will be Mountain Standard Time, or MST.

The game cabinet:

So the other day I had a thought. Dangerous, I know. But I was watching Accepted and the goofy guy kept saying “Battle Royale”. Such a fun term. That’s a fight of every man for himself. Naturally, in the human order of things, we know that this is not the most effective way to win. Adolf Hitler was insane, but even he had the sense to gather legions of followers before trying to take over the world. Naturally, he lost, otherwise this intro would be written in German.

Anyhow, back to the matter at hand, this ADD tendency really gets in the way sometimes. Battle Royale. Excellent concept, and it can be applied to everything. In an orchestra, which instrument would be the last one standing? In the kitchen, which appliance would be the one still usable for making food? So it goes on and on, and I thought about it for a long time. Eventually I voiced my thoughts aloud and my wife heard me. Big mistake. She got squeamish and wondered why I was thinking about violence. I don’t know what her problem is, violence is located in that neanderthal part of the brain, the part we have in common with reptiles. And since men are more primal then women, naturally we think about violence more than they do. That’s not sexist, it’s scientific. Then my wife got that zoned out look in her eye and reminded me that I had a list of chores the size of Africa to do, so I grudgingly took it.
First thing was simple, I emptied the dishwasher. Very obviously, the huge, 8 inch carving knife would have won a battle royale. Simple, hands down, it was better than the plates, cups, regular knives, and the cheese grater who won honorable mention for creative ways to injure a human being and sponge simultaneously. Next came organizing my garage. This one was a bit more of a challenge. I own several large and potentially deadly tools and implements. I’ll actually leave that for another time, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the Sabersaw and the pickaxe would have been there at the end.
Next on the list, organizing the game cabinet. This one made the garage simple. So many games, so many possibilities. I really couldn’t decide. So to that end I have employed the likes of you. You players will personify each game and help me determine which game or games are the best. Let’s see what human intelligence can do in an artificial environment. So without anymore ado, I present:

True story, I pulled the old Mouse Trap game a few months back when I was home (I think for Christmas) and I was like, "you know, I have never played this game. Who wants to actually play this game with me?" I got no takers, so I just set it up and spun the crank...

Day 1: Undefeated no longer.

From some day in the future.

Games were never my wife’s strong suit. She loves to play but can seldom win. When she’s married to the Strategy Gamer Supreme, who can blame her? Nevertheless, she keeps trying, more stubborn than any mule. Even games where she stands no chance, she’ll persist to the point where it makes me want to lose on purpose just to shut her up. Sadly, she would see through and know the win was not genuine. And so her latest obsession, introduced by her parents, has become a nightly ritual in futility. However, two nights ago, the fates intervened. Try as I might, her victory would not be denied. Furious that my winning streak was snapped, I pulled the game from the table, put it in the cabinet, and sulked off to my room. Then, when she went to go call her mom and boast, I stuck her crocks in the freezer. A half hour later, as I heard her hang up, I removed the crocks and set them by the door. Then I asked her to go out and retrieve our son’s toys from the yard since I was tired. As soon as her foot touched the first crock, she yelped and I was running for the sanctuary of my office.

Immortal_Raven has left the game. He was Qwirkle(neutral). New game based on shapes, colors, and combinations, yet voted as MENSA game of the year.

You have until 2:00 PM MST on April 1st, 2011 to submit actions. Game can open sooner if I get all of them in.(hint hint)

Night 1: Some things don’t mix.

“Now that you’re done being a jerk and freezing my shoes, maybe we can play another game.”

“Are you sure you’re done talking to your mom, I know this was a monumental achievement for you.”

“Yes it was, but I want to let it ride. We’ve got fifteen games on the table still, which one should we play?”

“Ah, decisions, decisions. I want to combine some games.”

“No, the last time you combined games, your dad ended up needing his ribs taping because you played tackle soccer.”

“Aw come on, I didn’t start that.”

“Yes, but you finished it.”

“This is different. I admit it could get violent, but that makes it fun. Now for some practical examples.”

As the games set themselves up, one game launched a volley into another game on the other side of the table. Unperturbed, the recipient of the volley continued about its business. Scratching its head(figuratively mind you), the first game sat there hoping to be put in to play.

Two games were seen on one area of the expansive table, whispering in hushed tones. After a lengthy conversation, they seemed to be in agreement and went back to hoping they would be chosen.

Elsewhere, a game was up to no good. We could tell, both the wife and myself could. It was coolly lining up a deadly shot as a competitor. All of a sudden, a greedy, attention-starved game took its shot away, obviously to use it against another game. When I saw which game was to be the first casualty, my heart fell. It was a game I normally win, regardless of which version we played. Sadly, it was not meant to be chosen. After the damage was done, I gathered up the pieces and placed the wounded game back in the cabinet to lick its wounds until the next time it would be sought.

“I know it’s your favorite game honey, but come on. We’ve got so many more. Let it go.”

“Good bye for now old friend, you’ve served me well.”

Quebbster has been returned to the cabinet. He was Ticket to Ride. One of the mod’s all-time favorite games, and very fun for novice and expert alike.(Town)

If you received no pm, your action succeeded as best you can tell.

One player has been silenced and may not post.

And yes, I really have stuck my wife's shoes in the freezer as a practical joke on multiple occasions.

Since there was only one kill, it is kind of hard to say, but if I was forced to guess, I'd guess mafia and hope there is no SK.

But I am probably wrong :laugh:

How do you know that was a kill and not some other power that just had no effect?

Okay so 2 kills then.

Assuming that's true, and assuming the vig most likely didn't take an action, that means mafia and SK are accounted for action-wise.

So someone out there should know something about a certain stolen power and who it was stolen from.

I still don't know why everyone started to vote for VDB. But I'm tired of so many games latley stalling out and nothing happening. So I'm added my vote. I didn't realize the other vote came as I was typing.

But since you are so willing to call out crap do you want to tell me why we are voting for VDB at this moment. Is it just pressure or do we have actual intel.

Day 2: The Red Dragon’s Triumph

The games sat there all day, unsure about what to do. No one was overly pushy, yet no one was deliberately holding back either. The votes trickled in at first. One silent game seemed to garner more attention than the others, but still it was not enough. As the day wore on, the other games got restless and many added their votes to the stockpile. Before anyone knew it, this game was sunk. The heroes inside banished from the gaming table, and the villain inside the box triumphant once again.

Venomdabomb has been returned to the game cabinet. He was Runebound. Game of adventure, savvy, cunning, and guile. And of course, good dice rolls.(Town)

I could have done a better write-up, but after 3 soccer games, two pony rides for my son where I'm the pony, and a wedding, I'm tired. Good night.

Night 2 begins now. You have 36 hours to get all actions in. Game will open at approximately 10:30 AM, Monday April 4th, 2011.

And Venom, sorry to see you go, but congratulations on the baby girl. I’ve got one of my own and she is awesome.

Night 2: Things that go bump
“I don’t understand why you’re so upset honey. The way you’re acting, you may love these games more than our kids.”

“I just hate to see a game, any game, unjustly put into the cabinet.”

“But Runebound, isn’t that the game you and Erik played that takes longer than heroclix.”

“Yes, and it’s so much fun.”

“But Laura and I took the kids to the park, out for lunch, to the library for story time, and got back before you finished. That’s way too long.”

“I know, but it’s so much fun.”

“Well maybe the other games got jealous with you spending so much time with Runebound. I mean, Ticket to Ride takes 40 minutes for the two of us, and that game took over 4 hours with only two of you.”

“I suppose you’re right, but it still bugs me. Ah well, let’s go take a look and see what mischief they got into last night.”

“You’re acting like they have feelings and personalities, maybe you should go lie down.”

“Nah, it’s all in my mind, and my mind is quite sane, just a bit weird at times.”

A game was a bit frustrated. Not knowing who to go after, he went with his gut and lashed out harshly at a fellow game. His fellow game was caught completely unaware, getting smashed to pieces and scattered all over the house. While the owner was crestfallen, his two-year-old son began gathering pieces and hiding them as only a toddler can. When the owner finally gathered the remnants, the game was unrecognizable.

Elsewhere, a mischief maker was brewing some trouble. He scanned the table and settled on a target. Launching a shot, it caromed across the table and slammed into the active gameboard, overturning pieces and exposing the flags, not to mention several high-ranking officers on both sides. The game was over and the wife thanked the offending game. This was one she had never and may never win, so it was best left in the cabinet.

Meanwhile, two games on the far end of the table conversed in hushed tones. In the faint light, it was hard to see if they were familiar or foreign. Regardless, and several tense whispers, they parted ways in peace, each with their own purpose for the night.

I don't think it's as rare as you think. I've seen it a few times.

More often than not, I've sene an Inventor as Mafia... but that's mostly in Stan's games, he loves Mafia inventors.

It should be noted, Inventor can mean different things. It can be a Jack of All Trades character where they start with a bucket ful of one shots, or it can be they invent a random power each night and the Mod tells them what they have.

First night I tracked Stan. He seemingly targeted himself.

Last night I RT deadshot (figured he might draw himself some fire after starting the VDB lynch). Only one other person targeted him.

My only real question is if I should out the other player. It could have been a mafia/SK hit... but given the fact that logan was Janitored and not deadshot, I am betting it was the vig (who maybe though deadshot was intentionally framing VDB).

The games were once again restless, longing to be the sole game played by the owners. They couldn’t play second fiddle. At first, one game was about to leave, but then another became the target of the mob’s ire. Before you knew it, the game gone, back to the cabinet without batteries.

One game was on a tear. He couldn’t miss even if he tried. He had a knack for causing trouble. Tonight was no exception. Surveying the table, he saw a game that was almost an insult to other games in the way that Weird Al is an insult to musicians. You’re kind of flattered by him, but in the end you hate his guts and would prefer he did not exist. Lining up the shot, he fired. Another game looked as if it might interfere, but decided that discretion was the better part of valor. The target never stood a chance, none whatsoever. But, chivalrous or just plain stupid, the game took the shot stoically, with a maniacal smile on its face.

Looking at the write up it states that a game was about to step in and interrupt the kill before it was suddenly pulled away

I read that as me about to MD Darq but I was RB'd.

So maybe I'm reading to much into a writeup but that is what I see.

No.

I had no way of making you target the player I saw hit deadshot without also making that player target you. Which would make you dead, if I was right about them being the vig.

However, what I *did* do does not jive with what I am reading in the write up. So I either I was MD, or there was something odd with my targets.

I've got to check some stuff in yesterday's posts and then double-check my submitted action. I've got a hunch, but I need to do a little reading first.

Frankly, the other person was my mason partner (thus how I know it's the game of Life), and I was swapping him with DF as I felt DF was Bulletproof so it was a good way of protecting my partner and fouling kills.

At this point in time, being I've no reason to suspect my partner, not sure why I would out his ID further.

I targeted him. The write up suggested that a game was going to stop a kill then that game was pulled away. I Failed my action.

That is why I thought Darq. I didn't know that I targeted Mags. If you would have spoke up sooner We could have moved on.

At first he seemed to escape detection, but then someone saw him, gloating on the far side of the gaming table. He was so close to his goal, but they were on to him. That’s the trouble with games nowadays and even old games, parts are always breaking or getting lost. The shooter, looking perplexed, walked away befuddled.

A few questions:

1) Does Mouse Trap involve the use of Peanut Butter?
2) If not, what game would involve the use of Cheese and Peanut Butter?
3) Would said game seem scummy to you?

Until we can answer these I will vote JRS4 for some pressure, though he was not my target last night.

I don't recall Peanut Butter in the version of Mouse Trap that I owned, but that doesn't mean there weren't other versions out there.

And considering the write up mentioned something about 'missing parts' and Mouse Trap has TONS of parts that could go missing, I wouldn't be surprised if Mouse Trap was one of the games that tried and failed to kill last night. Whether scum or not, who knows...

My role stated that he was Monopoly and that we were masoned. Our roles were sent separately which should have tipped me off, but his "role pm" he forwarded me was very believable. His powers and targets and everything were very well thought out.

Two things.

1) I can't really grasp how anyone would think I was mafia at this point. I mean, I was masoned with a neutral. At the very worst, I am or was masoned with a cultist. Which leads me to my next point.

2) I'm not convinced there is a mafia at all. I am getting a cult kind of feeling instead. I can't really explain it though.

All I know is that I am town.

I do not have a kill power.

and I'm getting frustrated.....

To be totally honest I was a little disappointed I didn't get some kind of kill power. I mean seriously, I'm Freaking Warhammer 40,000.

In the Grim darkness of the 41st Millennium there is only war.
Not to mention I specifically asked to the the Blood Angels chapter of Space Marines.

You don't get much more brutal then them in war.

Oh well instead people are drawn to me and look at my miniatures in wonder and aww. Blaaaaa.

I want to be able to kill some one in a game at least once.
I don't think I have ever made a kill action in any mafia game. Not One!!

My character just doesn't kill or I have some other power when I'm mafia that would be more beneficial.

Unless normal targeted Darq for a kill, then we know that if everyone else is telling the truth, Stan targeted Darq for the kill.

My guess is that Stan is an SK and that there is no mafia. Normal is an inventor anyway, so I know he is not an SK, and in the very least does not have a regular kill power.

The question now is can we get enough support to lynch Stan?

If we were a SK duo, don't you think Rokk would have been less likely to jump in and explain his bus driving thing when he did? I mean, it's not like I was under a whole lot of pressure at the time. Seriously, look at how he played. He played like a townie would have played that. And he did that because he didn't want me to suspect his true alignment. He also outted the mason thing perfectly to get people to trust him all the while giving him even more cred in the event I died. Making me feel like I should hide my identity, likely was intended to make me a bigger night target for whoever would make kills. This was to, again, give him cred in the event I died as who he said I was. I honestly think he'd have played much differently if we were a team.

Completely honestly, we have no proof that you are who Rokk was talking about. You could very well be a SK with no ties to Rokk, with Rokk being masoned with Silver the whole time. You could be using the confusion and Rokk's fake claim as a way to try to get us to believe you. Maybe you were masoned with him, and maybe he and Silver had some weird win condition to manipulate you or whatever. Maybe Rokk had no idea what your real role was, same as you not knowing his. There is just way too much uncertainty going on in your neck of the woods.

The other claims so far have made sense to me:

Darq is Hungry Hungry Hippos. It is not my place to out his power.
I am Clue. 1/3 clue cop, 1/3 alignment cop, 1/3 power cop.
Rage is Mouse Trap (unconfirmed, but not denied). Role blocker.
Normal is ?. Neutral Inventor. He has been harmless thus far.
JRS4 is Warhammer 40K. Magnet. (the fact that he targeted the RBer and the RBers original target wasn't blocked fits, unless JRS4, Rage, and Darq all worked that story out together, except I can vouch for Darq).

You have claimed Life/Misdirector. You claimed to have targeted Darq, but he was not misdirected. This just doesn't add up in my book.
