Hybridity IV: Prologue


____ The four figures stepped out from the portal of Hell, gazing around at the ravaged world around them. The portal closed behind.

____ “Oh my God,” Terry whispered, shocked.

____ ”God? If he exists then he’s forgotten all about this world.”

____ The four figures stood at the top of a grassy hill, scorched with ash and hellfire. In the distance below they could see a city burning and people screaming. There was pandemonium all around. People with guns fired back against demons and skeletal guards as they tried to flee, only to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of their foes. The air smelled of rot and brimstone.

____ “We’re too late, Lucifer’s reign has begun.”

____ “So what do we do?”

____ “Pray,” said the other human.

____ “The rest of the Legion of Exiles will be here soon, since they know I’ve failed in my mission.” Terry started. “We need all the help we can get to defeat Lucifer.”

____ “You do what you want, but we’re not dealing with some human dictator here. We’re dealing with the most powerful being in the world, and I doubt that a handful of mortals will be able to bring him down. No, you’ll probably die just like everyone else. I’ll find him myself.” And with that, Azazel turned around and walked down the hill towards the city.

____ “Wait!” Terry shouted. Then he turned to Warzone and grimly proclaimed that, “the apocalypse has begun.”


One Year Later


____ The year is 2012 and Lucifer has conquered most of the world. His forces are constantly spreading, feeding on the destruction and chaos. Japan has become a stronghold for East Asia, allowing a relatively small area to be defended by all sides. Africa is completely overrun. Britain and Swedorway are being defended by mutants which is the only thing keeping them alive. Lucifer and his elite guard known as The Four Horsemen are currently trying to finish off the United Provinces of Acanaca, in the ruins of New Torork City. The military is busy fighting off his minions, which means the dark lord is unopposed in his slow destruction. To correct for this, the military has set up a stronghold some distance in front of Lucifer’s path, waiting for him to arrive. The stronghold is being manned by Commander Scott Stone, and is being called The Resistance. The Resistance is small, consisting of maybe a hundred or less troops, and only a dozen or so as Stone’s personal platoon. But the best soldiers have been chosen, and hopefully they will be able stop Lucifer once and for all.


____ Meanwhile, the rest of the time travelling Legion of Exiles did indeed arrive shortly after The Black Arachnid assumed that they would. In the year 2099 the Earth is destroyed, and before Terry left to save it the group pinpointed its destruction from the year 2012, which meant an event in the past had led to this destruction. Cosmo, the leader of the LoE, showed his disapprovement with Terry’s failure as this mission should not have been taken lightly. Now the group of six remain in the past to try and stop the Earth from being destroyed and for the past year they’ve been fighting Lucifer’s forces and saving small villages that remain. But Lucifer has grown aware of their presence. Six months ago he attacked them and was able to destroy the devices that allowed them to travel through time. Now they’re stranded in the past, with no way to try again if they do not succeed. After hearing about the creation of The Resistance, the Legion of Exiles decided to show up at the same place in hopes that their combined efforts would be enough to stop Lucifer. Of course they kept their mutant abilities a secret as mutants and humans do not share a peaceful co-existence here like they do in 2099.


____ Other forces are out there and at work as well. Some friendly, some not. The final battle is about to begin as Lucifer and his Four Horsemen descend upon the small remaining forces left to oppose him. Will his plans succeed? Or will he finally be killed by Earth’s last hope? That all depends on you...

Terry was Spiderman 2099 and someone else. I was to say Black Arachnid. Warzone was a version of Batman combined with War machine I think. Sorry. I'm not so well versed in DC.

You began using the suit in the military to fight enemies of the United Provinces of Acanaca, but you have a habit of getting carried away. You also have a few issues with anger and paranoia, and you’ve killed a few of your own men in your fury. Eventually one battle proved to be too much and you were overconfident. Even with your suit, you could not withstand the assault and were killed. Now you reside in Hell, still in your suit, desperately trying to find a way to return to Earth.

You also have a 20% chance of killing your target.

I was Iron Man / Batman (Bruce Wane) in the first game and was sad I couldn't use him again. So in the third game I came up with an alternate version of my original combo.

It's just a bonus that he lived this time for someone else to use again.

Only The Strong Will Survive





____ ”These mortals think they can stop me?!” Lucifer bellowed. “People...they are so naive, clinging to their last remains of hope as if they had a chance. Only the strong will survive.”

____ “Sire, I am picking up some intense readings from inside the encampment. There is a powerful yet young mutant prowling around on the outer boundary line.”

____ “Kill it.”

____ The second voice began to focus its energy. Somewhere, far away, a teenager collapsed and died.


____ ~


____ Commander Cypress prepared the remaining barricades and armed the remaining soldiers. Some hungered for battle while others knew this would be their last day on Earth. Lucifer and his Four Horsemen were approaching, and The Resistance needed to be prepared for the upcoming assault. The sun was setting quickly.

____ “Let’s take a walk,” Cypress said to his second in command, Sgt. Bolo Hornet.

____ Sgt. Hornet was a fierce and durable brute with stinger blades attached to his forearms. Cypress didn’t like mutants, but Sgt. Hornet was not one. He gained his abilities through a military procedure. They both wondered if such lengths would even matter against the dark lord.

____ “Listen, we need everyone to be strong and fearless in the upcoming fight. I know some of them are afraid, and damn well they should be, but it’s our job to make sure they get out there and do their best.”

____ “I hear ya. I’ll whip those poozers into shape. Just promise me I’ll have somethin’ to carve up.”

____ “That’s the spirit. Now about positioning, we’re going to need-“

____ “-what was that?” Hornet interrupted.

____ “What was what?”

____ They both waited, listening in the darkness. Then, as they were about to give up-

____ Blip! A hooded figure in a crimson cloak appeared before them. The two men stumbled backwards. The hooded figure resembled death itself but with red gloves instead of bones.

____ Cypress pulled out his rifle and fired, but the bullets shot right through.

____ “He’s mine,” Hornet snarled and bolted towards the hooded figure, stingers raised to strike.

____ “You must be removed in order to maintain the timeline,” the hooded figure said. It aimed its hand towards the charging Sergeant and with a blip! Sgt. Hornet was gone forever.

____ Cypress was furious. “Where is he? What did you do to him!?”

____ “He has been removed from time, never to have existed. It was necessary.”

____ “Necessary? I’ll show you necessary-“ but the hooded figure was gone.

____ Cypress searched for him, but eventually ran back to the stronghold. If he’d only searched a little longer, he may have found the dead body of his son, cold in the mud.

Cypress' son was X-Factor, the mix of Nate Grey and Dr. Light.

Nate Grey is the son of Cyclops; also Cypress was taking a leadership position against the Four Horsemen...and something about the weird bolding of the "C" in his name just struck me as wondering if the "Cy" had anything of significance.

I won't pretend I care much for Anima (who got better only to be used as cannon fodder in an even worse book) or Son of Vulcan but they both had their own books once. It's kinda sad to see them as collateral damage to set up a lousy storyline that didn't make any sense that wasn't released until like a year later.

Like they expected the Titans East Special, where all they did was say the Titans are lousy friends and kill off minor characters, was going to get us so excited about these villains that didn't even appear on panel that we'd end up buying Titans a year later.

Luckily, I was able to read it all at Hastings because that stuff was not worth paying for.

Anima actually had potential from her book but she had the curse of New Blood on her...and her casualty was actually immediate come back. She returned in the Prometheus one shot...and then got killed by him (as did Hook and Sparx, Gunfire lost his hands)
Meaning Argus and Loose Cannon are the only survivors

Yeah, that book sucked in every possible way but the way it sucked most was the need to kill off lots and lots of minor characters, a) pissing off fans of specific books and b) getting a collective shrug from anybody who hadn't read those books.

I'm currently near the beginning of the second New Titans series, somewhere between Kole's introduction and Crisis on Infinite Earths. I'm also reading David's Aquaman series, mainly for Tempest. I believe you given the current militaristic feel of the game. Still, that claim could be a very clever lie hidden among truths. You could be that character with a double vote, and hiding your kills behind granting double votes. I think your claim should grant you a reprieve, but come end game, you'd better have some proof that you can grant a double vote.

Who Will Lead Them Now?





____ The woman traversed through the shade of the forest searching for answers. In the distance she could hear gunshots and shouting and she knew she was getting close to the stronghold. Everyone knew about The Resistance and they had more faith in it than any human army on this Earth. She too had hope. The night smelled of dead cedar and fear. She could taste the thick aroma of battle in the air and hoped that her skills could be of some use to the final stand.

____ Behind her a twig snapped. She was running out of time. She reached the end of the forest and dashed towards the clearing just as something slashed at the ground where her back foot had been. She rolled into the frost-covered clearing and turned facing the forest. In the background the stronghold waited with its stone walls and elevated terrain. To her it was a castle.

____ Something stepped out from beyond the forest and as it did its rocky body morphed into an unknown figure wearing a red cloak.

____ “This is necessary,” it said.

____ “Eat me,” she snarled and created a translucent portal in front of her. There was a hex on it.

____ The hooded figure held out its hand and fired, striking the portal.

____ In the stronghold, a woman disappeared from time.


____ ~


____ ”Tabby?” A man said searching around. “Has anyone seen Tabitha?”

____ “She probably went to the bathroom,” Cypress said, handing him a rifle. “Now get to the wall.”

____ Many soldiers were positioned at the second and top most level of the stone structure. It consisted of a stone wall in which they would fire from behind a three foot tall barricade. Cypress searched around looking for people that could replace others that had run out of ammo, until they could find more. Lucifer’s forces were running across the blackened field trying to take down the stronghold, but the stream of bullets were able to take them out before they drew close.

____ “More builders! Keep the barricades steady!” He shouted. Some of the demons could shoot fire which made it difficult to support the barricades.

____ “Inferno come on,” he said to a huge fire wielding mutant. Cypress wasn’t a fan of mutants but he knew he needed all the help he could get. He’d met the Legion of Exiles already when they showed up at the stronghold and he knew he could trust them. He was apt at reading people. The other members of the LoE were fighting near the lower level.

____ Cypress and Inferno climbed up the ladder to the elevated section and Inferno stood at one of the corners.

____ “We need to protect the main wall. Try to keep those things off it.”

____ “I’ll scorch ‘em.”

____ Inferno aimed his bigger arm towards the front wall. His arm glowed orange and red with intense flames. But then something happened, as if a lightbulb had been smashed inside Inferno’s head. The hulking mutant turned towards Cypress and rose his arm.

____ “Wait, what are you doing!?” Woosh! The powerful blast of fire spun into Cypress’ chest and sent him flying over the side of the wall and into the oncoming demons. Bamn! The leader landed with a gaping, burning hole in his chest, and the demons finished him off. Surprised and angry, the other soldiers on the second level fired at Inferno sending the mutant over the opposite side of the stronghold and away from the front wall. Many soldiers stared on in disbelief as they realized Commander Stone was gone.

____ Back in the clearing, the woman had stumbled to her feet. She was ready for the cloaked figure to approach.

____ “You!” She heard something say behind her.

____ She turned to see a complete double of the crimson hooded figure standing opposite the first one.

____ “Have fun.” The woman ran off.

____ “Who are you?” Asked the first figure.

____ “I’m Cosmo, from the Legion of Exiles. Or at least I was... You are a fake.”

____ “Prove it.”

____ The second figure held out his hand and blasted away the first figure’s cloak, revealing a jagged alien hiding undernearth.

____ “Thought so. You can only copy what you see, and you didn’t know what I looked like.”

____ “Sh*t!”

____ The real hooded figure tried to blast the imposter, but a second imposter was able to save him just in time. The two ran off into the forest.

____ “Good riddance.”

____ The real hooded figure may have uncovered that mystery, but they didn’t seem to notice the lord of darkness standing behind them. With a fiery blast that seemed to erupt from the Earth itself, the hooded figure was burned alive. Its clothes fell to ashes. It screamed in a low howl. All that was left remaining was a burnt corpse resembling an old man.

____ “Next time don’t steal the spotlight.”

i cant say for certain if they were related, but based on how i was informed, im guessing the two were not related.

Inferno aimed his bigger arm towards the front wall. His arm glowed orange and red with intense flames. But then something happened, as if a lightbulb had been smashed inside Inferno’s head. The hulking mutant turned towards Cypress and rose his arm.

“Wait, what are you doing!?” Woosh! The powerful blast of fire spun into Cypress’ chest and sent him flying over the side of the wall and into the oncoming demons. Bamn! The leader landed with a gaping, burning hole in his chest, and the demons finished him off. Surprised and angry, the other soldiers on the second level fired at Inferno sending the mutant over the opposite side of the stronghold and away from the front wall. Many soldiers stared on in disbelief as they realized Commander Stone was gone.

Back in the clearing, the woman had stumbled to her feet. She was ready for the cloaked figure to approach.

“You!” She heard something say behind her.

She turned to see a complete double of the crimson hooded figure standing opposite the first one.

“Have fun.” The woman ran off.

“I’m Cosmo, from the Legion of Exiles. Or at least I was... You are a fake.”

The second figure held out his hand and blasted away the first figure’s cloak, revealing a jagged alien hiding undernearth.

The real hooded figure tried to blast the imposter, but a second imposter was able to save him just in time. The two ran off into the forest.

“Good riddance.”

The real hooded figure may have uncovered that mystery, but they didn’t seem to notice the lord of darkness standing behind them. With a fiery blast that seemed to erupt from the Earth itself, the hooded figure was burned alive. Its clothes fell to ashes. It screamed in a low howl. All that was left remaining was a burnt corpse resembling an old man.

Well the basic thing was this. He, Beezelbub and Lucifer were the three rulers of Hell but when Lucifer left the other two lost their power to the armies of the Triumvirate.
I dont see him as mafia but unlike last game not sure if he would be town so I think the neutral would be the most likely option for him here

Just realized there is an easy way to do this based on the past. If a player chooses a previous winner for a new game they always got a 2/3 majority needed to lynch. So lets go for a regular lynch on him. If he get to what would be majority and is lynched he probably lied and if he is still alive then is probably telling the truth

Mr. Bauers. You're not power-claiming or doing anything helpful other than saying "IR is scum, he's lying." I claimed because of pressure and because we haven't killed even one scummo yet. I thought claiming would remove a pressure train and start another one so we could get some info from someone else. There's a big lack of info this game in my humble opinion.

No the test was to take him to nine votes. If he was Azazel as he claimed then it would not lynch him since he'd need 2/3's vote. With MJs vote which he removed right before I called for an official count he would have been at 9. I'm pretty sure Stranger didn't overlook that.

In Hybridity III my role was basically Darq's role from the first game (well, that was a prior existence... or something). Darq had been Neutral though, and I was Town in part III, so alignment changes can happen.

i used my EXTRA ACTION, AFTER I had been doubled, to pull IR to me.

You're making some pretty large assumptions.

You're assuming that your pulling caused the double when it could easily be that IR merely targeted you after you sent in your action. (Note: I hate doublers because they cause you to send pms in the middle of the night, they cause paradoxes and they require players to send in actions in a shorter time frame. There are ways around this but mods don't seem to use them very often.)

You're also assuming that your second pulling caused the torture when it could have easily been a torturer targeting you on purpose (as you would be told this at the end of the night after you had submitted your action anyways).

The fact that IR is claiming a town friendly (or at least mafia unfriendly) character who won the last game and is in the writeup and has a power that corresponds with all characters who won previous games makes his story seem likely. Claiming as a doubler is also an easy power to prove and surely the real doubler would claim if it meant getting rid of a mafia member.

Thus, we have weak evidence that IR is scum and strong evidence that IR is not.

Other soldiers of The Resistance would be there soon and he needed to get out of there. Cosmo wouldn’t be able to stop them this time, and it was better if his attention was spent elsewhere anyway. Maybe Inferno could help somehow from the sidelines. He rose up and ran off into the forest nearby, disappearing into the dense foliage and shadows.

____ The large figure walked slowly and carefully through the forest, both trying to be quiet and also trying not to burn the entire thing to cinders. There was someone coming towards him, holding what looked like a pistol in his hand. It wasn’t a pistol Inferno had ever seen before, but he couldn’t take a chance. The moving figure was cursing in another language, one that sounded rare and exotic in the echoes of the sullen trees. The fiery one hid behind a tree trunk which only slightly hid the large build. If the other figure hadn’t been so distracted, Inferno’s poor hiding spot would easily be found. But why was the other figure so distracted? Was he looking for something? Well Inferno couldn’t take the chance that the figure was searching for him. As the pistol-carrier walked by, the fiery mutant jumped out and blasted him in the back with a concentrated stream. The other figure tumbled to the ground as his inflamed body seared the nearby branches and leaves. It was then that Inferno realized he’d made a mistake.

____ “Reckless idiot!” He scolded himself, and decided to walk back to the stronghold so that he wouldn’t burn down the forest.

____ Meanwhile the walls of The Resistance were being pummelled by Lucifer’s forces. Cosmo and the Legion of Exiles were trying desperately to keep them at bay, but Lucifer’s horseman had decided to finally join the fray. They flew above the melee and drew in close, firing their weapons towards The Resistance. Soldier after soldier fell from their assaults.

____ “We need to take out Lucifer’s elite!” Shouted Cosmo. The soldiers began firing at the horsemen, but not before one of them unleashed a purple beam into the main body of the stronghold. The beam shot right towards a savage looking warrior that was standing beside Cosmo.

____ “Stop!” Shouted another man from somewhere nearby. Time seemed to slow in that instance, as the purple beam moved at a snail’s pace towards its target. The man rushed forward and dove into the air, tackling the savage warrior to the ground. As he did, time became normal again and the beam struck the ground where the warrior had been.

____ Terry stood on the upper level staring down into the crowd of demons that were attacking their massive bunker. But one in specific caught his eye, who seemed to behave differently than the others. He shot out a ball of web towards his target, catching the creature off guard and forcing it down so that Terry could get a good look at it.

____ “What...are you?” He asked himself. The creature looked alien in nature.

____ The jagged creature broke free of the web and ran off. Terry was confused, but there was still a battle taking place and he had to return to it.


____ ~


____ Lucifer hovered on the edge of the battlefield, watching The Resistance fall piece by piece. It would only be a matter of time until their hope devoured them.

In the vig's defense (No, I'm not the vig.), erage could have prevented that by not being elusive yesterday. I'm curious what Rokk had on him, but given erage is dead, I think that info is best not revealed yet.
