Add Perplex to Defend???

is it possible? the rules dont say n e thing about not being able to combine defend with super powers. since perplex added to the dial and defend uses the defense value, in theory it should be legal.

could you pump a defend characters defense points with perplex and make that character share that value and create a nearly impossible to hit phalanx.

example
take a rookie invisible girl's 18 defend
use a couple of pushed con artists or rookie mystiques
put them all b2b use the perplex to pump the defend to 21 or 21+
now you have a phalanx of characters with 21 D

making it close to impossible, have to roll a 12, for pelters like pyro, hawkeye to hit you. even bullseye would have to roll a 10.

Yes you can do it.

Perplex ends at the end of your turn, so all defense values would reset to normal.

So yes, you can do it, but it would be wasted.

Hmm... what about if you're trying to perplex down the defense of someone that is under the influence of Defend? Do I end up dropping the newly defended value down by one on the target, even if they aren't the character with Defend?

It would be benficial to perplex down the Defending character's defense because that would drop everyone protected down by one.

It would be pointless to drop perplex down the defence of someone who is being defended by invisible girl as they use her defence regardless of their own stats, but you can lower IG's defence, thereby dropping the intended targets, assuming IG is not in stealth as you have to draw LOS to her even in btb contact.

All the examples you've given is exactly what would happen.

Perplexing up Defend is pointless as Perplex only lats for your turn.

Perplexing down the Defense stat on a fig under the influence of Defend is pointless a they will still use the Defend of the main figure.

Perplexing down the Defense stat on the figure with Defend is your best bet....

etc. etc. etc.
