Heralds of Galactus Mafia [Archive]

Rules - the basics are taken from PaxZRake and have been amended some

1) There is a town. They win by getting rid of the mafia/non-friendly neutrals. Each night, many of them do something (investigate or protect for instance) to try to find the mafia. During the day, they try to vote off the mafia.

2) There is a mafia. They win by getting rid of everybody that isn't in their mafia. Each night, they will remove townies from the game. Each day, they will try to prevent the townies from voting them off.

3) If more than half the players vote for the same player during the day, that player is lynched and is removed from the game. You should bold your lynch votes so that I don't miss them or think you are kidding. You can vote for anyone but chances are nothing will happen if you try to lynch someone who isn't playing. You can also vote for a no lynch, but some mods will remove a random player from the game to ensure that the game doesn't stagnate if no player is voted off. I don't let you do any fancy voting except simply leaving your vote with another player.

4) Don't do these 3 things: Quote your role pm or the role pm of anybody else, talk about this game outside of this thread even via pm unless you are pming a mason teammate or a mafia teammate, edit your posts. If you do one of these 3 things, you may be modkilled to ensure the game's fairness.

5) Day and Night Phases will last 24 hours or 36 hours during the weekend unless otherwise stated. I don't randomize actions. If you can't remember to target anybody, I'm not going to help you win by picking someone for you. Night phases may open sooner if I receive all the actions before the 24 hours.

"It has finally happened. He has decided to try to end the hunger for once and for all."

"But how does he plan to do this?"

"The Infinity Gauntlet. He hopes that with it's power he can simply will the Hunger away. However, that will create chaos throughout the Universe as there will be no one left to serve his role and to maintain balance."

"We must gather the others. We have the power to stop this from happening and even if it means our demise, we must do everything we can to stop it."

The pair began to make their way to a nearby star system to start the process of gathering the others.

"It is the end of days my son. The World Devourer has come to end everything."

As the mother finished her answer, the world exploded in energy. It was quickly asborbed by their Master. He grinned as the energy from the massive world sustained his ever growing hunger.

"My Heralds, let us proceed on our journey. This will sustain me temporarily while we search for the first few gems."

As they make their away from the field of debris of the planet Galactus had just consumed, a familiar being watched them depart.

Day 1 will end at 12:00 PM EST Monday. The phase may be ended early by voting for No Lynch. With 16 players, 9 is Majority.

In fairness he's never actually been caught doing anything.

At the media stuff yesterday, one of the reporters asked him what it was like to be in his first Final Four (since the UMass one and Memphis one are technically vacated).

Out of all the teams that he's coached, this is the one least likely to have violations on it though. I was worried that last years team would have had some, but outside of Bledsoe's stuff there really hasn't been much about that class.

Based on this in the opening write up

It appears nearly all the Heralds are opposing him (There might be some loyal) so by saying Master you seem to be OMACING
I never saw how claiming as a herald of galactus in a game where the heralds of galactus are town was vote worthy.

Night 1

"The calculations show the Soul Gem to be hidden nearby my Heralds. He has hidden it in a pocket universe that he thought no one knew about. Go forth and bring me the gem my Heralds."

With that the Heralds leave Galactus's ship and begin to search the nearby region. Shortly thereafter, the pocket universe is discovered, and with it, the first of the gems for Galactus.

They were not alone however. On their way back to Galactus's ship, they encountered the former Heralds of Galactus, who now stood between them and their master.

"Get out of my way bub, we got something for the big guy."

"Do you not realize what will happen if Galactus wield the Infinity Gauntlet? You were once reasonable, think about the repercussions of what you are doing."

"Oh I've already thought about it. As a matter of fact, let me show you what I think about it." SNIKT!

At that moment he unleashes his claws, now made of pure cosmic energy, and lashes towards the line of former Heralds. When suddenly a blast from someone new hits and slays him.

"I don't think so. None of this happens until I get my revenge!"

During the resulting confusion, the new Heralds rushed to their master's side. Galactus's ship soon parted, but not before firing a massive blasts at the group of former Heralds.

"NOOOOOOOO!", he said as he rushed forward and took the brunt of the blasts. He fell back, his body now lifeless.

As the others looked up, the ship was now gone. Galactus now had the first gem. They knew they must stop him before he gathers more.

ChiRocker is dead. He was Wolverine - Galactus's Herald/Mafia
Morpheousdr3am3r is dead. He was Air Walker - Former Herald/Town

Day 2 begins now and will end at 5:00 PM EST Wednesday April 6th.

Not sure who would want revenge.

In regards to the mafia theme, if all we have to go on is Wolverine, it could be a lot of things...

1. New Fantastic Four - Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Mr. Fixit, and Spider-Man

2. People Apocalypse has chosen in the past as his Four Horsemen - they are kind of like Apocalypse's heralds, so their resumes probably look good to Galactus.

3. Random characters it would be cool to put in the game.

I'd assume its #3, but I suppose it could be one of the others, or something else entirely. Wolverine is ubiquitous.

I guess I don't understand why you'd leap to that conclusion. Getting roleblocked by targeting the same player a Jailkeep+ targets isn't the first thing I'd think. Clearly, I always assume the Mafia is roleblocking me.

You failed in your action, there are a variety of reasons why, and I don't see how it would benefit anyone for the Town Roleblocker, if it was the Town Roleblocker, to say they Roleblocked you.

I also don't know why you would want the misdirector to step forward (though, that's a good one I'd missed).

As for me, I think it's pretty clear that I sat in jail :)

Night 2

In a far corner of the Universe they found it.

"Our Master will be pleased."

With that, they flew off to give the Time gem to him.

On a planet full of life in the Skrull empire, he completed his machine and began to absorb the energy of the planet. The former Heralds found him and interrupted the process.

"You can't finish this. Without you, the Universe is thrown into chaos. The Universe needs Galactus."

"Former Herald you know nothing of the Hunger I endure. None of you could even endure the task of choosing suitable planets for me to consume. That is why I have found Heralds who will and will assist me in ending the Hunger once and for all."

"We can't stand by while you do this. You must be stopped."

"Actually, I think it's you who is going to be stopped. I told you, none of you will get anything until I get my revenge!"

At that moment, he fired a blast at the former Herald just as the Herald had fired a blast of his own. The end result was two Herald's lifeless bodies falling to the planet below.

"You never had the guts to do what we do. It's why we're helping him end this all. We've even got more power than any of you could ever hope for. Let me show you."

With that he fired a blast more powerful than any of them had seen, save from ones from Galactus himself. In the end, the former Herald was completely gone and no trace of them remained.

PaxZRake is dead. He was the Silver Surfer - Former Herald/ Town.
Kontrol is dead. He was Red Shift - Former Herald/Town.
Loganspeedo is dead. He was ?????

The write up is a little unclear, but I don't think so. At least, I can't think of why either Surfer or Red Shift would want revenge. And the second of the two blasting seemed to be the one seeking revenge.

Any janitored kill is usually a townie. Only time I've seen different was is Birds of Prey where one mafia janitored another kill.

So try this theory:

Pax and kontrol are dead. Guessing one was a PGO/bomb, other was the Vig. The Vig targetted Big G and got MDed or busdriven into the PGO.

Then quite separately, one of the mafia heralds took out loganspeedo.

The reasoning for this theory is the bolded text where Galactus speaks. He only has one line, then there's the scene where Pax and kontrol both die. Then after that, there's the scene where logan is janitored. Again, no bold text. Only problem for me is I don't know if the mod deliberately did that to throw us off or not. Anyhow, Darq is kind of pinging my scumdar, so I'll throw a vote on him for now. Dual pressure is good. Perfectly willing to throw onto Doomie if he doesn't show up with a claim though.

Yeah, especially if the person you're trying to protect is an info gatherer. JKing is better as an offensive ability.

But the more I think about things, the more I don't have a problem with Darq this game. Johnny Storm is a former herald according to wikipedia. Darq claimed under pressure yesterday, before the janitoring. No one has stepped forward with any contrary evidence. Did Darq give us a power claim too?

Regardless, I think our time is better served elsewhere today.

Sure it does. There's no reason in a game this small to have anything other than an SK as Neutral, and seeing as there was discussion of The Fallen One being the likely SK... That STILL counts as a former herald

I failed to target him on N1, but I did target him last night AFAIK.

Still he could be an SK with a power where he ignores the first targeting against him a night or a % protection. I know I've seen those before.

This puts us at 4 votes on each so if Darq want to contemplate power claiming, people should remove votes off him, and if Docdoom is around, I certainly want to hear from him.

He hasn't really participated at all.

And I am not familiar enough with the mod's style to know if he (the mod) would actively seek out a replacement player or not if DD was just coasting along.

That forces me to assume (because of lack of more evidence) that there is probably someone (the mafia's don) submitted actions for DD, since most mods don't like non-participatory players. Hence, DD is likely mafia.

It ain't the best reasoning in the world, but it works with what we've got now.

He clanked behind them as they tried to figure out how to stop Galactus.

"You're working with them aren't you?"

With that the others surrounded him and used their collective Power Cosmic in order to destroy him.

Night 3

The Heralds are in a small building in the Bronx in New York City. Hidden in a crate, they find the third gem for their Master. They slowly remove it and examine it. They then head off to his ship on the outer ridges of the Milky Way Galaxy, where he was waiting for them.

"Very good my Heralds. We now have half the gems. Soon we shall gather the remaining three and I shall end this Hunger that plagues me."

He stood up and put the Space gem with the other gems. As he did so, he looked up to see his former Heralds, back again to try to stop him in his quest.

"You're getting too close to finishing this. This has to end...."

Before he could finish, the same being that they had seen before stepped out of the shadows and interrupted them.

"Oh no, I told you it won't end until I've gotten my revenge. Since you keep getting in my way, you'll have to be dealt with first. Starting with you."

As he finishes speaking he fires a blast towards one of the former Heralds. The Herald is able to dodge the attack, but it strikes another target instead.

"AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!"

He falls to the ground. All of the beings are stunned. He lay motionless and smoldering from the blast. Before they could even breathe a sigh of relief that it was over. He slowly got back to his feet. A look of pure rage and destruction was all that they could see.

Before they felt his wrath, they quickly left in order to regroup and discuss what had happened.

No one has died!

With 10 players, 6 is Majority. Since it is still the weekend, I will extend the phase a little bit. Day 4 will end at 10:00 PM EST Sunday, April 10th.

I don't know. If it were a misdirect, wouldn't someone else have been hit by the blast? No one died.

So you're claiming doctor and that's supposed to make sense for Jonny Storm & you're alleging that Surfer who makes sense as the docite thematically was the Vig...

Soooooo... Glad to see any and all convo stops once I'm no longer a viable lynch.

I'm of the opinion that Surfer was the Vig because the writeup certainly appeared as if Pax killed kontrol (am I remembering correctly?) the night he died. Of course, it was a bit unclear, so maybe wrong.

I'm still trying to figure out the write-up. Maybe the mafia kill was misdirected into one of their own. You know how sometimes the mafia don has some kind of power to avoid night kills? Maybe that's what happened.

It got misdirected that seems for sure...into someone who had a night immunity. But whats curious is only one almost death
First Night the Revenger (SK) gets mafia and then Galactus gets AirWalker
Second Night Revenger kills Surfer (Vig) who killed Red Shift...Then Galactus kills another Former Herald
Third Night The Revenger strikes at someone and gets someone procted Most likely Galactus...which means what happened to the mafia Kill. If we have a RB here we might have an answer as they likely RB'd Mafia

I read it as the killer MDed. Are you saying you were MDed MJ? Are you saying you're the killer? Cause I MDed Quebs.

Killer could have been MDed into someone doctored, someone JK or someone whose bulletproof, but definitely reads like a MD or busdrive or maybe a push over.

Night 4

The fourth gem was his. He felt his power increasing and he knew that soon he would end the Hunger once and for all. Nothing could stand in his way, not even his former Heralds who continued to try to stop him. He sat on his ship and contemplated his next move.

"Heralds, I must find the fifth gem next. The Infinity Gauntlet is almost assembled and once I have all the gems, I shall rid myself of the Hunger which has plagued me since the beginning of this Universe."

However, before he could even begin to celebrate, the former Heralds appeared and confronted their former master once again.

"You are far too close to completing this. You will not collect anymore gems. This ends now Galactus!"

"My current Heralds believe otherwise. Heralds, end this annoyance."

With that Galactus's Heralds attacked. The large one was the first to strike and with his power he tore the burning one in half. As the others battled, the same figure from the previous encounters showed up again.

"I believe that my revenge still takes priority. And if you must die in order for me to get my revenge, then so be it."

With that he shot a blast. His aim was off, but the result was all that mattered. A Herald fell to the ground.

Eternalrage is dead. He was Firelord - Former Herald/Town.
Malakim2099 is dead. He was Super Skrull - Galactus's Herald/Mafia.

With 8 players, 5 is Majority. Day 5 will end at 1:00 PM EST Wednesday, April 13th.

Ridiculous stall on Quebs btw. I feel better about him with Malakim voting for him, but he could still be the SK.

I'm getting tired of this, what the hell makes my claim garbage? I was the SECOND person to claim. Before any Janitorings. In a game with a limited amount of possibilities.

But yeah, keep it up. At least it's keeping the Mafia from killing me. :tired:

I am less concerned with how crappy your claim is (which is is rather crappy as far as herald claims go), then with the fact that you aren't being your usual aggressive self trying to help out the town.

That and you hinted at doctor but failed to protect the town JKer...
