If someone is on elevated terrain with his back to some stairs and he gets knocked back one square. Would he take damage for getting knocked back onto the stairs (Which technically in the first non-elevated Square)

Followup question .... if he were knocked back say 5 squares and had a 3 square long staircase behind him how far would he go? The Rules state that he would stop at the first non-elevated square, which would be the Top Square of the staircase if I'm enterpreting the rules correctly. So he would get knocked back only 1 square and take the 2 damage for falling off elevated terrain landing at the top (first) square of the staircase? Is that correct?

Yes on both counts.

The top square of stairs is treated as elevated terrain from what I understand. He'd have to go to the second step before taking the elevated to non damage.

Ack.... give me which map you are looking at for this....

This is a little weird....

Tsannik is freaking out because there isn't really a situation that would lead to the problem. The "top" step is elevated, the others are not. Conceivably, if you were on the top step, and someone on another building hit you with a ranged attack that caused knock back, you could "fall down" the stairs, but you'd only fall the first one, take two, and stop. I can't think of a map that would allow an angle for knockback down the steps from a close combat attack.

Well that and on the original Marvel Starter map, Outdoors...

The stairs are arranged so that it would be very difficult to ht someone down the stairs....

There are also going to be some clarification issues with these stairs that can only be solved by my scanning and labeling of the maps.

Anyone do some web page design and want to help with that?
I've already got some of the maps scanned, but don't know how to go about putting it all together and making it available to the masses.

DS-00-0, FSD,

I don't think the rest of the gaming group would like that. Very funny, but man that would suck!

Yeah, suddenly Force Blast becomes even more useful!!

The FAQ needs to be updated:

Force Blast: This character sticks out it's foot and trips the opponent, causing the opposing figure to fall down stairs.;)

1) do friendly figs block LOF?
2)can a hovering fig shoot over the heads of the groundeds at another hovering or a grounded?
3) If so can a grounded shoot over someone at a hovering?

1) Normally, all figures (friendly and opposing) will block Line of Fire.

2) A Hovering figure cannot normally shoot over the heads of the Grounded figures.

3) No, normally Grounded figures cannot shoot over the heads of other figures.

Now, this is different for Elevated figures and Grounded figures.

Do a search on that and you should find a good thread on it.

Just to be goofy and just some weird thoughts. What about Knockback up stairs or even worse yet up a ladder?

Now, knockback up stairs I could see happening more frequently. I think you have to treat the elevation change as a blocking line, as if they had hit a wall.

An example Tsannik would be like the construction zone map with the big dirtpile. Okay concievably a figure could be standing at the top of the dirt ramp (basically stairs), and a figure with leap/climb could attack him from the side opposite the stairs. This figure could cause the knockback described.

Watch, the ruling will be to treat the stairs as "ramps" for knockback purposes. Then there'll be arguments about how to handle ramps (if you roll down the whole thing do you pick up speed and skid farther along the ground at the bottom?). And then there'll be the group that says they should have been ramps anyway for Prof. X to use. :D

As for being knocked *up* (NOT LIKE THAT!) the stairs, it would REALLY suck if you were knocked back enough to go all the way up the stairs and then fall off of the building for 2 clicks. You can't get knocked up a ladder. You'd just hit the wall. :D

Oh my.....

Yeah... to give a definite answer should require these maps to be scanned and labelled.

The issue here is now to determine which squares are elevated and which are grounded.

But, till that happens....

You're basically thinking correctly...

They will stop at the 1st square of stairs that are counted as Grounded terrain and take 2 damage (0 damage if flyers).

I'm going to leave this like this now... I really haven't answered nothing, but I don't see how that is possible without the maps themselves posted and labelled.
