I've been waiting for forever for someone to run a Nextwave game, but nobody will do it. So this is what we've resorted to. Are you happy now? You should all be ashamed.

Don't know when a good time would be to start because the calendar isn't updated *coughcough*, but let's aim for two weeks from now (April 21st-ish). That's more planning than I've given for my past game(s?)

20 players is a good size!

Many people want specific Nextwave characters. This is the only sane desire as who wouldn't wish to be a superior being like Stack.

Many have also sworn to RP. This is where logic warns of danger. Based on game size it is quite likely Nextwave will be the Mafia. If you RP as them, you doom them. If you truely love Nextwave how can you doom them?

Possible solution? Mirror Universe Evil Duplicates for people to RP.

Then again would those duplicates - most needing extra facial hair except Monica whom should have less than usual (she just strikes me as the type who needs her moustache removed but is too oblivious to do so) - be as such:

*Aaron: Overly touchy-feely - and not in the fun way - super-emotional protector of fleshies. He comes with shrinking parts, cold water or not.

*The Captain: Do-gooding teatotaler who espouses the virtues of clean living and has very ungeneric powers.

*Monica: She was once a follower in the Master of Evil. She misses when Zemo was a Nazi.

*Tabitha: Amish by birth, charitable by choice.

*Elsa: Quite improperly French, flat-chested and wondering why people don't act sensible and hide during fights.

Anyway, congratulations, we have officially ran Amazon out of copies of Nextwave. :) Went to go order some for a few Realmsers curious about all this and the link I gave Mal on this thread last week? It now shows "Shipping in 1-3 Months" due to being out of stock!

I ran one other I don't consider a full effort. It was a Something Different that I threw together in 30 mins because there were no games being played at the time.

It was the SD game with everyone getting assigned a randomly rotating set of powers each night. :p

I think the trick with Nextwave, for me, was focusing on the character traits more so than what was actually happening at times.

I, for example, have never enjoyed Monica - even back in the Avengers - so could care less about her doing things in the book...but thinking of her as the person who's always bragging about how she was with the Avengers (a leader even!) and name-dropping and such...it reminds me of those celebs who now appear on reality tv and you're going, "Man, they were Oscar winners. How'd they end up here and become so intolerable?"

The so-placid-he-was-boring Aaron reimagined as Bender on Rage-roids? Totally hilarious, more so than much of what he actually does (i.e. - I find his comments and people's reactions to them get more of a laugh out of me than, say, his way of dealing with Fin Fang Foom-clone).

She was there for Secret Wars (Rhodey hit on her, revealing he wasn't Tony), Siege of Avengers Mansion, etc. Lead the team for awhile - as she reminds everyone - and doesn't do much else. Traditionally in the comics she was depicted as actually turning into light - she'd turn into a yellow glowy state - which is how you may be more familiar with her. (She still supposedly turns into light in Nextwave but it's depicted a bit differently). Her Heroclix figure was back in the Sinister set, I think (or was it Supernova?).

*Aaron Stack = Machine-Man/X-51: Despite being a Marvel character he actually first appeared in the comic books based on 2001: A Space Odyssesy. He too has a figure in Sinister and was a sometimes (basically more honourary) member of the Avengers/WCA. Usually ended up getting controlled into joining other robots to fight heroes (e.g. - Heavy Metal). "Married" Jocasta for awhile. An alternate future version - where he foresakes all "humanity" about him - is seen in the pages of the various Earth-X books. Currently running around killing zombies in his Nextwave-revamped style....and working for an insurance company that's trying to get money out of Deadpool.

*Elsa Bloodstone = Er, Elsa Bloodstone: You may know her father better - though he was, in fairness, obscure - Ulysses Bloodstone. Her only real appearance before this was her mini-series by Abnett and Lanning (who -swear- they had never seen Buffy before writing it). She, probably to differentiate herself further from Buffy, dyed her blonde hair red and became much rougher and tougher in the pages of Nextwave...and far more British.

Um yeah picking up where 12 leaves off...the half digested body of Monkey boy crawls out of Devil Dinosaur's rotting corpse and being a bit deranged from the whole almost being eaten things forgets that it was DD who ate him and vows revenge on his killers. He then surgically attaches what is left of his body to the remains fo Dirk Anger to become Angry Moon the half Man Half Chimp cyborg. He then recruits some of Nextwaves greatest foes to fight them..
