Time for a brand new set and a new series of games to celebrate them for Gargantua and I.

As far as the game construct goes we have 6 series of 1000 point games followed by a finale using all figures from those 6 games. As usual we get 8 figures on board at a time (multiple figures like Madrox count as 1) and replace as they fall. Throughout the series we can each any feat twice. We've added a mechanic we've used before---'Crazy 8s'. In this game it works this way: make an attack roll. If it's an 8, complete the action. Then roll an 8 sided die. Your figure exchanges with the opponents figure equaling that rolled number (with any action /damage tokens on it). Each game with we both will have a team leader, that figure alone cannot be switched (Professor X and Magneto are among them). At each games end the 'exchanged' figures go into a pot and are divided up, winner getting first choice, if it's an uneven number that final figure goes to the winner.

Our story posts reflect a kind of Age of Apocalypse type of world where two mutant leaders (Magneto for Gargantua, Xavier for me) war with their own factions of mutants and mutant-sympathizers. This allows us to focus on mutant characters while throwing in non-mutants.

"Ye are a fool, Ch'od. Tis not a betrayal of us. Our former friends hath their own beliefs!" Raza insists.

"It's ok, Starjammers," Corsair puts his arms around his allies, "We know how to beat Lilandra and her crew. Just you see."

"I don't like it, Angel," Justice whispers to Firestar, "Where's Wolverine? Colossus? Cyclops?".

"Shhhh Vance, we don't want them to hear us," Firestar says, "I'm sure these X-Men are...fine...Maybe the Avengers aren't busy?".

"They don't believe in us, those two," Siryn says.

"How do you know?" Jubilee asks.

"Despite my powers, I've got darned good hearing. Ironic, isn't it?".

"It doesn't matter," beams Longshot, "I believe in us!".

"Oh joy," Jubilee adds.

"It doesn't matter," Phoenix says, enigmically aglow with power, "They'll learn."

"Well aren't you scary, miss," Fantomex says in a French accent.

"Trust me, she is," Vindicator says then turning to the Brood Warrior, "Though maybe not as scary as that."

"Rachel, not Jean," Mimic pointed out.

"Still, the power of the Phoenix force is nothing to dismiss, even if the user is less experienced," Donald Pierce suggested. "In fact it may make her even more of a danger."

Oh, so we don't have to start in the first two lines then?
Not in this map, no. A lot of the newer maps have non-standard starting areas. Like the Carnival map we used for one of the earlier games, where we started in opposite corners instead, or the Bridge map where the starting areas are kind of smooshed to be less wide, but spread out further toward the middle. That's why they've started to do them in purple on all the maps, so you know where to start.

With the generic groups, wouldn't you get the whole group? I thought that was how we were playing it, but then I don't think it ever came up, except for Madrox in game 1, which was a little different, but not really. I'll stick the other two in your starting area (N23 and O23). I wasn't planning to push either one this turn anyway.

It's not quite no use of powers. Just no Power Actions. Which is an important distinction. Defensive powers that don't cost an action to use, Powers that just need Free Actions like Outwit and Perplex, and Powers that use Move Actions, Close-Combat Actions or Ranged Combat Actions are all still fair game. As a quick reference, going down the PAC, the following are the powers that say "give the character a Power Action": Phasing/Teleport (though that's changing in the new rules to a Move action, which makes more sense), Charge, Running Shot, Mind Control, HSS, Force Blast, Smoke Cloud, TK, Barrier, RCE, CCE, and Support. And of course, certain Special Powers or Feats, like Pounce. You'll need to read the description for each one. Still a fair group of powers there.

The losing Charge actually hurts my plans for this turn a lot.

In a case where we have limited figures but where a certain number of generics count as one, then all would be traded. Here we aren't counting them as one so I don't know if a set should be traded like that? Am I making sense?

"Your ego is only surpassed by your awful Halston-goes-bondage choice of costume. Do you really think you can hold me back?" she says.

"Long enough for the true traitor to assist," Rachel says turning to Fantomex. "Take her out!".

"This 'lizard' doesn't kill easy," Ch'od pointed out to him.

"Morph? You've signed your death warrant," Stryfe said, hitting Siryn with a TK blast.

"Don't forget your trash," Mimic called after him, picking up Ch'od and throwing him bodily after Morph. He missed the shape-shifter, but the Starjammer landed on the pile of crates that Leech was hiding behind. Neither Ch'od nor Leech was stirring after when the dust settled.

"I'm sorry, Ch'od old friend," Corsair apologized. "I should probably try to avenge you, but this side has begun to stink of Shi'ar a little too strongly for my nose." He turned and shot the nearest Shi'ar point blank with his blaster.

"Thanks!" she waved to him as she flew up into the air, out of the reach of Donald Pierce who had been advancing on her. Or so she thought.

"You forget you're dealing with a cyborg. I'm full of surprises," Pierce said with a leap. His cybernetic legs launched him high enough to grab the young mutant. And once he had a hold of her, she couldn't break his steely grip. She braced to use her sonic scream. "Oh no, there'll be none of that," Pierce said, releasing an electrical charge through his hand, stunning her. And once she was stunned, it was a matter of seconds for him to finish her.

"Can't make up your mind which side to be on, Longshot? Let me help you," Vindicator said, hitting him with an energy blast despite Longshot's luck.

"I know but we'll take what we can get. Stryfe's hiding makes Raza the go-for guy," the Canadian responds and together they take down the Starjammer.

"Hiding? Look who I have have!" Longshot says.

"I thought luck was your middle name, Longshot, because it seems you've just run out of that," Strryfe tells him.

Stryfe needs a hand.

Xorn TKS Lilandra to F4. Time she started doing something. Targets Longshot, AV9 on DV15. Gets 7. He's out, frees up Stryfe.

SO many targets to choose from. I'll go with Mimic. Takes Lil's tokens to make his AV12 on DV17. Gets 5. Senses roll's a 6. Of course it is.

At this point I'm more concerned with seeing who's gonna end up on the trading block than anything else.

Firestar needs 8 to hit Lil. Rolls 9. 3 to her.

Vindicator on her. Needs 5, rolls 10. Lots of good rolls tonight. 2 to her after toughness.

Fantomex to ko her. Needs 6, rolls 9.

Justice tks Fantomex to F10, he outwits Stryfe's outwit.

Mimic needs 9 to hit him, rolls 7. Wiccan makes it 10. Wait...sc is needed 5. I take that back.

Phoenix needs 10 to incap, rolls a 10. Really. He takes a token and click.

My goal is to get Xorn in a trade. My luck is it'll be the Shi'ar guy instead.

Unless you want otherwise I'm ok with keeping what we had originally. You made out worse in this trade. That'd be Raza, Jubilee, Brood and Corsair for me.

Otherwise I'd pick Morph!

Hopefully the finale will be more even. I've replied to the thread I've already started on that game. Remember we do our standard 8 at a time with replacements idea. One figure can be saved (Xavier and Magneto should be among them).

I'll start with Selene. Endurance sounds like a good idea. I'll copycat your Feat.

Here's how I see the "saved" figures working. One figure at any time may be "saved". When that figure is KOd, you may assign a new saved figure. You can either choose the replacement or give it to a figure that's already out. Whenever Magneto or Xavier are brought out, they immediately take the Saved status, regardless of whether the previous saved figure was KOd or not. They lose it and Mags/Xavier gets it.

Do you want to have 8 figures on the map at a time, and if you roll to swap with the saved figure, no swap occurs, or have 9 figures at a time, 8 that can swap, and one that's saved?
