featuring TREVOR FITZROY
By Bill4935
Way back in 1991, when goatees were hip and all the cool people lived, worked and fought killer robots in the future, Trevor Fitzroy was thought up by X-Men writer Whilce Portacio. He had funky hair, an edgy attitude and soul-draining powers. If he had worn flannel shirts and Rollerblades and listened to Soundgarden, he might have been the greatest villain of the 1990s!

You have to damage an enemy before it'll work. It has to be close in. Trevor only deals 2 natural damage, and has no Move&Attack powers. Without backup, he probably won't hit the opposing tentpole. Not looking all that great right now, is he?
However! Look at that word, "place". I made it bold for emphasis. As the rules currently go, placing is different from moving or being carried. (You long-time players already know where I'm going with this.) A character can't be given an action after they are carried. Battle Fury characters or :m-wing: characters or Colossal characters can't be carried. Trevor evades ALL those restrictions.
<img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80851/HCRealms.com/201104/fitzroy.jpg" style="width:160px;margin-right:4px" align="left" title="Uh-oh, a sneak attack!">He can take any type of character anywhere on the map to start attacking right away - which is great for long-range forward attacks to the enemy Starting Zone. Is there a telepathic geneticist (http://www.hcrealms.com/index.php?page=units&id=gx036) hiding in the enemy's start zone? Is there a single opposing Mystic character (http://www.hcrealms.com/index.php?page=units&id=cv002) surrounded by Wildcards? Are Jane Foster, Scarlet Witch and Rookie Mandroid (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238685&highlight=pit+crew) staying out of combat? None of them are safe any longer.
Top tip: Send your #1 attacker out on a Hypersonic or Charge attack. Then use Telekinesis to move Trevor somewhere adjacent to both your #1 Guy and the opponent. If Trevor can hit, bring him and Guy both back to a safe spot on your side of the map. Hey Presto! The Yo-Yo attack has been reborn.
Here's the Math:
Percentage of current HeroClix characters that Lockjaw can Carry: 56.49%
Percentage of current HeroClix characters that Trevor's power can Place: 100.00%

Fitz did me some good in a battle royal on Krakoa where he betrayed Wolverine (full write-up in the WDYPHDID? thread).
Curse you Wizkids for making another character I don't care about with a fun dial! (see also Stryfe and Gideon).

I don't know why but I really want to run a team with both Fitzroy and the Spot. Portal madness abounds.

Trevor is the only GSX rare I don't own yet. Don't believe I've ever seen someone with an extra of him. He's amazingly complementary to the new colossals, though. It seems like Trevor+Roulette or maybe Trevor+Leech would give a huge boost to any of the colossals for the extra 100 points.

I have two extras. Might be fun to try playing two at some point, placing each other wherever. :)
I had very good results with Trevor in Sealed, where he could use his power to position himself just right. If he hadn't crit missed at the worst possible time I would have brought down Phoenix...

Trevor, Emma, Harry and Magneto is a pretty wicked 400 point team. Add Storm and 3 Guards for an even worse 600 point team.

Good point. I do like the prospect of running Emma Frost and R Tessa along with a bunch of Guards - dual Enhancement FTW!

I'm just excited such a weirdo was made. Love that sculpt and Bishop was one of my favorites in the 90s!

Same here. I started reading comics regularly with Uncanny 282, which was Bishop's first appearance. Having his nemesis available now is pretty awesome.

I just fell in love with the idea of Nightcrawler hauling someone back to Fitzroy who punches them and then yanks either Nightcrawler out of harms way, or pulls Wolverine to their pit crew.
Fun times :)

What good Hellfire Club theme teams using Trevor can people come up with?
Tonightmy venue is running a "GSX only" 500 point tournament. I am either running a Hellfire Club team of Magneto, Emma Frost, Storm, Fitzroy, two Hellfire Club guards and the Crimson Gem or five Mindless Ones. Both are 500 points exactly. Choices, choices ...
Fitzroy is who I was looking the most forward to in GSX, and he has not disappointed. I've played him several times now, and he has yet to disappoint.
Even if his placement power - which is admittedly hard to pull off - doesn't come into play, he's a rare Modern age cheap probber. It doesn't seem like he should be as good as he is, but he really is great.

I ran Magneto, Trevor and a guard at 300. Not surprisingly, it was pretty nasty.

Moving Colossal figures around? That's absolutely sick and comic accurate!

I ran that exact Hellfire Club team and it dominated. Not even close.

This figure would be GOLD with armor piercing. Not because of the minor damage that he can dish out (which is why most pieces have it) but because of the awesome ability that kicks in when they take damage.

Magneto
Trevor
Sabretooth
Mags toses both out. Sabretooth does mortal wound and Trevor follows suit and 'ports back to mags or to the next target. Wash, rinse, repeat. Love Trevor.
I like the green hair. goatees are still cool right?

This peice is a great piece. My step son uses it with Guy Gardner. Absolutely leathal. I thought about running him with Wonder woman DC75, use her ability to charge with object, EW and cause knock back, plus saves 10 pts. Then transporter them both away next turn if need be. Guy does have EW with 4 dm though.

with his powers though, if he stole enough fuel energy he could open a portal big enough to move a colossal.

I ran into this team when I was playing 3 Frost Giants... it did alright, but I went after the Guard first, and then Trevor. I lost 1 Giant in the process and a second was crippled, but then the third one gave Mags the Finger (of Foom) and rolled some boxcars. There really wasn't much my opponent could have differently... I haven't tried Fitz out myself yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Trevor Fitzroy was my most pulled rare.
I like to title it as "A Tale of Five Fitzroys."
i made a hellfire club team and have a q about it
it had emma/trevor/harry/(2 or 3 cant remember) guards for 300 points and the q is can emma mastermind her mind control damage cause the guards give her mastermind
also with mindcontrol it says 1 point of damage for every 100 points of value so is that from 1-100 = 1 point and 101-200 =2 or is it 100-199= 1 point of damage
I just have to say, every time I see the title (in ur base, killing ur d00ds), it makes me laugh. What a great new article series!

My brain registered this momentarily as "Back in 1991, when goatse was hip..."
The great thign about Fitzroy while his power is awesome ...you don't need him to be good.
I mean if you pull it off cool...but if not Oh well he's still a very mobile PC

No, you can't mastermind mind control feedback.
You don't take feedback until reach the 100-point mark, so it's 100-199 = 1 click, 200-299 = 2 clix, and so on.

Was about to suggest that team, substituting Wolverine for beat-stick of choice. Can easily use Nightcrawler to nab a support piece, of which would be easy for Trevor to damage, and drop your tank wherever you want.

I'd love to try out a R Blink, Nightcrawler, Trevor Fitzroy, and a Sentinel Mark I (296) team.
Nightcrawler uses a Kinetic Accelerator to boost his speed and run in with HSS, tag a target, drag it back, and place it adjacent to the Sentinel. Senty captures the target; Blink TKs a bystander or generic adjacent to TF (who is also adjacent to the Sentinel). TF hits the opposing character, and both he and the Sentinel are whisked away to your starting area. Sentinel releases the captive on your next turn. Rinse and repeat.
Blink can serve as a healing battery in the event that she loses TK or NC has been pushed or successfully attacked.
In a higher point game, you can substitute the Sentinel for SI Captain Marvel (human), and/or use the BatB Flash and Green Lantern duo to perform a "TK shuffle" for greater effect.
I kinda want to try Trevor with Lockheed, just so Trevor can evacuate the li'l purple dragon when he gets closed on.
If trevor teleports a friendly away, can the teleported friendly make an action that very same turn if it has no action tokens?
If trevor teleports a friendly away, can the teleported friendly make an action that very same turn if it has no action tokens?
Yes. He's not being carried, he's being placed, so he can act whether he has an action token or not. Pretty awesome!
The sculpt is great too. I zapped him behind a nurse last week, and if you place him right (ie with the nurse facing away from him) it looks like he's a creeper about to grab her from behind!

tested him as part of a bye round team with roulette and Nem... er... Hol... eh, the guy in the big orange/yellow crystal suit.
I managed to pull it off only once, but was ecstatic that I even did... got my free vanishing act, taking suit-boy along for the ride, dropping him next to my opponent's Emma. She didn't survive the poison as I'd already swung with suit-boy earlier, but... still. it's truly awe-inspiring to just pull him and a buddy from the board, and drop them down wherever you may like... so long as it's legal and they're still adjacent.
the rules dont say that mastermind is unavoidable, it just says take 1 point of damage not take 1 point of unavoidable damage. i am going off of darkest night rules and powers. I think you should be able to mastermind anything thats not unavoidable
I made a team with trevor that i think will be cool tell me what u think,
superman (75)
trevor
checkmate knight black x2 ( i believe, cant remember the one with outwit)
the concept is superman flies trevor in to a low point target, trevor attacks the next round wich places trevor and superman at any target that superman wants to attack with his 4 points of damage the same round. the check mate guys are there becouse u have 62 points left and has to be someone who can take care of themself. the checkmates have enhancment so the can enhance the otherone cousing small damage here and there and they have outwit.

Had a great sealed tournament in which I attacked with Sabretooth only to have Trevor help him to relocate against the lower pieces. It's a great figure and if you have a perplex you can help him with the damage so he and his friend get anywhere they need.

Mastermind only affects damage dealt, not damage taken, so the "take 1 damage" phrasing is pretty much the same thing as saying the damage is unavoidable.
Fortunately the 2011 PAC makes this clear:
MIND CONTROL Give this character a power action; it makes a close combat or ranged combat attack (minimum range value 4) as a free action that deals no damage.
A successfully hit target becomes friendly to your force. Each target hit may be assigned one action as a free action, immediately after which the target becomes an opposing character again. Deal this character 1 unavoidable damage for each 100 points of the
successfully hit targets’ combined point value.
But it's not really a change, just a clarification.

Funniest subtitle ever.
Interesting........
You could also be nasty..
Use the New Nightcrawler.. have him run out and nail someone and port him back next to trevor (someone easy). Trevor is sitting next to #1 bruiser.. Trevor hits the scrub and tp's next to whomever you want bruiser to smash.. and have bruiser smash them hard... Because it's not subject to NAAT or anything like that..
Which is somewhat like being the greatest ice skater in Kuwait.
Hey now! he was actually a pretty cool villain.
I will say taht for anyone who really hated the character - read the arc in the current X-Factor series where they go to the future. It shows you why Fitzroy is the way he is, and it was a really cool twist that actually makes you feel sorry for the guy. :(

Trevor + Beast Boy (T-Rex) = CHOMP.
Can't bring myself to include Nightcrawler. Despero would work, though, and the new leadership rules are making me re-evaluate that figure anyway.
I used him the other day to help take down Phoenix.
I used his Special Power 3 times. Phoenix kept trying to use her range but Trevor would hit another figure and then I would place Trevor and Elsa next to Phoenix. She can't hit both from close combat.
