Shortly after I acquired my CR055 Sinestro way back when Crisis came out, the yellow energy trail snapped at the base and was impossible to glue back. I glued the figure to the base and it looks pretty good if I do say so myself, but it totally ruined his value. I'd like to trade him off now that we have newer versions, but I have no idea what a fair trade for him would be. Any advice?

The best thing to do is make a thread. talk about how it was glued, provide a link to a good picture of the fixed Sinestro, and then see what you can get.

That's pretty much what I thought, but it's always good to hear outside opinions as well.

The best glue to use if it ever happens to another figure is the brush on Krazy glue. It does not leave white residue and its bond made to the plastic is really strong. The brush applicator gives you good control where you put the glue and it does not plug up. You do have to make sure you recap immediately after applying the glue so the glue in the container won't dry out as fast. Have tried a few other brands and this is what I recommend.

As to the value, its hard to say, but I think it will be about 50% of the price due to no collector would want it and he is a good playing piece for players, but not a great one.

Thanks for that Advice NoGo, I've got a few figs that need glued myself, hopefully will help them look good as new.

Btw, if a figures flight stand becomes detached from it's base, but then reglued and it's not noticeable, how much do you think it's value would be compared to a "mint" value?
We'll say this figure is Ultimates Thor (because it is)

That's exactly what I used, NoGo. It is the absolute best when it comes to repairs and even modding.

It should not detract from its value.

I bought an Ultimates Thor not to long ago and he was glued to the base but needless to say the value for flight figures glued to the base should not effect value because on my Xplosion Sauron the one side of the stand broke because the peg was too big and this also happened on a couple of other figures. Did anyone else have this problem?

You will be surprised at how many people won't take a flying figure glue to its flight base. You are probably in the <5% minority if you do. Just how much did you pay for this glued Thor?

Yes, Fatpegs used to be a big issue.

I would like to see this Sinestro. I'm kinda interested in it.
Show me a picture and I will make you a legitamate trade offer for it.

My Crisis Sinestro broke in about the same way. At the base of the yellow coming from his feet. I ended up drilling a small hole in the bottom of the top half of the base and in the yellow from his feet. Then used part of the metal from a thumbtack through the bottom of the top half of the base into the yellow from his feet and the some glue. Looks like it originally did and hardly noticeable.

I just have bad luck with some figs. My Crisis Spectre completely left his base, my Hypertime colossal Sinestro lost the bottom lightning bolt, and multiple pre Avengers figs lose arms and heads. I go through a lot of super glue!

Back when Crisis came out, my brother and I both got a case. Our cases were identical, all the same SRs, Chase KC Supermen, and both of the Sinestros were broken. I was able to glue mine back but it was Very hard as he's a bit top heavy and it was broken at a weird angle. I was able to get it, but it took some time and patience to get it right.

This was such a common problem with this figure that I don't think it would drop the value nearly as much it would normally, especially if the figure doesn't look any different after the repair. A collector probably won't be as interested, but there are a lot of players who won't care. If you are trading instead of selling, I would state that you repaired the fig and see what kind of offers you get.

You just have to be upfront with it. When I had one for trade and someone wanted the piece I gave the full disclosure about it and provided a couple of different angle photos of it.

I got mine already glued, but didn't really notice it till later. I agree with the above that it shouldn't lower the value by much since it's going to be very hard to find one that hasn't been broken.

I can for see this problem being common with frost giants and their spears. Much like Magog and his spear.

Here's a link showing a few pics of how my Sinestro looks post-energy trail...

From the picture, I would think it would trade/sale for a significant amount less because he isn't just reglued, but he is missing part of the energy trail. I can't imagine a collector wanting it at all. I've purchased/traded for repaired figures, but that is only if they are pretty much just reglued and identical to the original.

My original advice still holds true though. Put up a trade thread, specify the condition (preferably with photo), and see what offers you get.

I think you'd have a hard time finding a completely mint, unglued Hypertime Sinestro. It seems like those things actually come alive in the night and find a way to take a dive off a high shelf.

That's exactly what happens. It also explains why socks keep disappearing.
