I'm looking for some feedback/suggestions for a tourney tomorrow. The tourney is called "I'm Surrounded by Rookies"...the rules are 400 pts, only 1 non-rook figure is allowed. Every other figure must be a rookie.

These rules seemed like a fun time to test out my new sentinels. The team is as follows:

http://www.hcrealms.com/cgi-bin/quickviewteam.cgi?teamname=Possession&username=Rufus&action=graphic

Moondragon
R White Queen
R Panther
R Invisible Girl
Sentinel MKI
Sentinel MKI

396pts

(It's better than it seems...keep reading)

Alright, first of all with teams composed of mainly rooks, your looking at an avg of 15/16 defense and 9 for attack ( a few can pull off a 10). Removing the big gun will be key in these games.

This is obviously a I.G. centered team, there for it is not the most mobile of teams. Sentinels are one square apart with IG inbetween towards the front, panther infront of her and moon and emma on either side of panther (allowing everyone a solid 18 defense). This will be very difficult for most to pierce with an avg roll of 8 for most to hit me.

Downside to this is called Ultron...multiple EE with good attack value will eat me alive...luckily Ultron is one of the only pieces capable of this, and panther can neutralize that (also there is a house rule of no taxiing fliers...so i only need to worry about him being tked...)

Lack of mobility is offest by excellent range (10 on moon/sents, 8 on white queen). Also the sents can see those rooftops...making them big targets. However, with 12 clicks of life and 18 defense I'm not to worried about them taking the bulk of the damage...especially since the attack never goes below an 8. Their job is to be stationary turrets until they can get an easy capture and head back to drop off.

Moondragon and White Queen are there for the mind control. The goal is to use them to send their pieces in base to base with my sentinels OR to turn my opponents pieces against him.

Panther and IG keep me out of trouble. They are not in any harm since both are in objects with stealth...IG can not be flanked, in order to base her my opponent needs to also base both sents, then roll break away to move 1 more square to get in reach. Panther can be based, but there are 2 MCers next them allowing me to move them away...next to the sents.

I tested this team out against the following team:

V She-Hulk
R Strange
R bullseye
R klaw
R doombot
R scarlet witch
R wasp
R sabertooth
R hydra medic

400ish...forget exact total...doesn't matter really.

I felt this team is a good representation of the compitition...solid heavy attack piece, lots of cheap sniper support, a medic, some taxis, pc, bcf, bit of barrier and a solid 9 people to give me an idea of how i can fend off swarms.

I went first, marvel outdoor starter. I moved up into my formation. My oppent taxied in she hulk and charged moondragon with a heavy object...she missed her roll...probbed it, made it, but moon hit the Super Senses (this a big luck factor with that attack...had she landed this things could have been a bit more difficult for me). My opponents snipers were taxied into position...strange with bullsey on one building, Klaw, the doombot, and sabertooth on the ground, Witch and medic on the other builiding.

Next turn PC was outwitted, white queen mced she hulk (and took a click)...pushed she hulk into a sentinel who succeeded to make the capture.

Bullseye and Klaw attempted to rescue her, bullseye got lucky with an 11 (wait...bullseye doesn't need luck, he never misses). She hulk then proceeded to push and swipe that sentinel...she missed.

She was easily recaptured. The other sentinel took a pot shot at klaw for 2, Moondragon MCed bullseye to attack strange...both foes took a click.

Following turn Wasp taxied in Sabertooth to get rid of moondragon, he missed. Wasp was positioned to block LoF to witch so PC can no longer be outwitted next turn...this team needs it to get that 18. Strange misses to rescue She hulk (yeah...desperate attempt).

White Queen pushes and MC's saberooth to base with the sentinel with no captives (the other begins to retreat back to starting area). Sabertooth is captured. Moondragon also pushes, MC's wasp to move next to the sentinel as well...panther can now outwit PC.

Another round of rescue attempts, all fail, a few of them pushed.

Wasp is captured, the other sentinel in the starting area rests (there is no imediate danger of a rescue attempt with my opponents attackers pushed).

My opponent rests (and moves his doombot over to airlift the medic to klaw).

She Hulk is released for a monster 240 pts. The other sentinel moves towards the starting area to do the same (carrying Invisible girl as well). White Queen MC's Strange, and has him attack bullseye for 2. Moondragon misses an attempt to shoot klaw.

Klaw is healed, doombot pushes to move klaw into range of the sentinel with sabertooth. Klaw attempts a rescue and misses...he PCs it (I had outwitted stranges deflection that turn). His second attempt frees sabertooth!

Dilema ...if Sabertooth stays where he is he will be captured again the next turn. Does he rescue wasp or does he try and slice up a sentinel? Seeing as how wasp is not realy worth the rescue...he attacks the sentinel that had captured she hulk. After all it's pushing it was on it's inc clicks...he hits and then he rolls a 5, enough to take out the sentinel!

Needless to say he is recaptured...but he made up for his loss by taking out that sentinel. Moondragon pushes herself back to IG...she doesn't like being out in the open. White Queen pushes to MC strange again, who KOs bullseye...she pushes. Her MC is now gone...and she is in the open with only 13 defense.

Opponent rests.

I release Sabertooth and Wasp and rest.

My opponent moves away from the sentinel and now goes after White Queen and Panther who are out in the open. Klaw takes out White Queen who's super senses failed to save her.

Next turn moondraon attempts to shoot klaw...rolls double 1's..., she's now on her regen click. Panther attacks strange, he hits for 1. The sentinel shoots the doombot for 1.

Fight breaks out for the next few turns...blood and carnage ensues...White Queen and Panther eventually fall. Strange and the Doombot shortly follow. The medic is also picked off, and Moondragon has managed to renerate back to her PB/ 2 damage click.

A battered and bruised klaw is left...Multi-attack incapacitate effectively keeps him from moving in anyway shape or form while moondragon finishes him off at her liesure.

Only scarlet witch remains for my opponent...who is forced to concede. Score's were totalled up (counted Witch as a KO for Moondragon...since the sent could not have killed it with 0 damage).

Final score ended up at 188 to 778 i believe...yet the game was actually fairly close...those capture points really pay off.

Anybody see any glaring weakness with this team ? In most cases the games will be 10 turns or 50 minutes. This was a good 90 minutes/ 20ish turns...so hopefully i won't be quite so bruised from pushing by then. Here are the few I see...none seem too major though.

Weakness:

Ultron (or other EEers with solid attack value)-- Outwit, or even MC him and get him captured if possible.

Lack of Numbers--- I am forced to push, luckily with sents that isn't a problem, once i get a capture or two it evens out. MC also hinder my opponents actions. Sentinels may also act every turn if I'm feeling aggressive (normally am...no worry about defense dropping...it's always 18 :) ).

Lack of PC-- can't help it...Witch is AE of the sents. Just need to pray to the dice gods and outwit my opponents PC.

Stealth-- not a problem actually. They have to base me sometime (i don't think there are any rookie ranged stealthers that I'd be too scared of).

Chargers/Taxied Bruisers-- Cross my fingers and pray for the best...that really is all you can ever do against them...luckily I get a shot to attempt use their bruiser the following turn ;).

DEPENDANCY ON INVISIBLE GIRL-- can't help this one. Luckily she is practically untouchable until I loose some other pieces (aside from EE which wrecks everyone :( ...I doubt I'll see Ultron though...I'm thinking She-hulk, Thor, Spiral, Logan, Firelord and Doom for the most part as my non-rook competition).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/comments...think I'll do alright with this one?
