Ok fellas. I want to tell you I played 2 games today I won one and lost one . Again I played tournament level competition, I have witnesses who visit this forum.
Here is my team for the first game which was a victory and was basically a one on one game:
Iron Man V
Mandroid R
Hawkeye V
Wasp U
Captain America U
Scarlet Witch V
Before anyone starts whining on how I have no idea how to make a team.....I do and I did and I won and I loss. The Wasp U and the Hawkeye V are treated as one figure in my battle plans. Together they are basically a running shot that that can move 8 and deal out 3. It also has the tactical felxibility of breaking them up. Iron Man and Mandroid give me 6 clixs standing still or 4 on the move .
These 2 groups form a formidable pair of attack units that can dish out 7 clixs on the move ( 6 or 8 move)from 10 hexes away or 9 clixs standing still (with re rolls from scarlet Witch). This is a range attack team that most players are not use to. I have the Scarlet Witch for annoying re rolls and Captain America to get in the way, annoy , ultimately heal and maybe use Outwit.
I Faced a mostly 400 point X-men related team. The sceanrio was contest of champions.
The hardest defense that Iron Man went up against the entire game was a 18 at the very start . meaning that he needed an average roll of 8 to hit at the worst of times in this game and it happen right away.
Cyclops
Rogue
Logan
Nightcrawler
Jean Grey
Booster Gold
Again the focus is Iron man and I will only speak about him :
Turn 1 :
Flew on top of a building with the Mandroid unit. Shot at Cyclops who was in hindering terrain. needed a 18 got a 19 (rolled a 9 but if I would of missed I had scarlet witch right there for a re roll if needed) . Cyclops took 4 clixs. Wasp flew to the same bulding and hawkeye finished him off.
Turn 2:
rested
Turn 3:
Attacked Rogue dropped 4 clixs, Hawkeye dropped 3, she had taken a critical miss previously she was out.
But Iron man was attacked by logan causing 4 clixs of damage that turned into 2 because of INV. he also suffered a knock back and was no longer ever again able to be next to the mandroid unit.
Turn 4
Rested
Turn 5
Logan attacked and missed. Iron Man broke away to do a runing shot and connected for 2 clixs of damage, needed Scarlet witch to make a re roll on the attack (Iron Man missed by rolling a 3 the first time).
Turn 6 rested
Logan flew in with a taxi and was pushed struck again and did 2 clixs of damage.
Logan finshed off by other figs
Turn 7
Moved
Turn 8 rested
turn 9
Attacked booster gold (booster was down to a very nominal defense. Hit for 2 clixs of damage booster was finished off.
Turn 10 rested
game over
Iron man did very, very good in this game. and dropped a total of 12 clixs of damage and got credit for finshing off 2 figures. He took 4 damage in return.
Game 2 was not so good.
My team was the same. The sceanrio was scientist. The FF team below had the scientist.
I faced a Thor led team(which won the game) and a mostly Fantastic Four team both 400 points each.
Turn1:
I aggressively taxied Iron Man with Wasp to try and hit the Torch and possibly drop 5 clixs on him. I ended up out of position and needed a 10 to hit. I had the scarlet witch in site and gave it a go. I missed the first roll as well as the re roll.
Turn 2
While resting
Iron man got his INV outwitted by a Black Panther E.
Mjolnir (Thor)connected for 5 clixs of damage(shield team ability aided). Next Iron Man had the Thing show up with a coke machine and drop 6 clixs of damage. Game over for Iron Man. My team hung in there and ultimately scored points for a veteran She Hulk (120)and an expereinced Black Panther (36) without Iron Man the chances of winning were very slim. Iron Man was out of position and was annihilated in 2 turns and because I had spent so much on the fig the game was over.
All in all , if you can keep him alive, he is a monster damage maker. If he drops your chances of winning drop accordingly.
The low attack value is greatly exaggerated.
I had a blast playing him .
