I finally gave up, and didn't even bother. It seemed so promising too...............
I highly advise reading all the tutorial stuff on the web site before getting to invested in a game.
HeroClix is a complex game which requires a complex UI.
You will need to learn how to do things like placing figs, placing objects, moving the camera, carrying figs, dropping off figs, flipping over to see what your opponents dials look like, etc.
The game is on a chess clock (as it must be as you have no judge to call stalling)...so if you dont read the tutorials expect to run out of time.
Once you get used to the complex UI the chess clock should not at all impede a good game.

HCOnline already looks dead. They have released over a thousand keys and like others have said there are never any games. A big reason is only one set to play obviously. I will be using the universal key for a second installation (ok, third) so I can play against myself.

Heroclix Online is currently PC only (though you could probably use Boot Camp or Parallel or Vortex or the other programs that run windows on a Mac to play it.
There must be a ton of people getting the Beta judging by how slow the update download is going. Good news for those who were having problems finding a match.

Really? Wow, my ETA is about a total of 4 hours (slow considering it's only 188MB). I usually dl 4-5GB in that time.

This is awesome. I'm looking forward to learning the actual tournament rules finally. My friends and I play similar rules, but with slight changes here and there, to speed the games up a bit, or to make it more comic accurate in our eyes. Hopefully though with this, I'll pick up the differences quickly enough to play in some tourneys at my lbcs.

Awesome! Pricing is a big concern though. The final game should come with everything available at the point it first comes out. Then players would be able to buy each new set as it comes out for a small fee. I don't want to be buying virtual boosters & getting virtual dupes.
This might effectively end the table top game. Look at D&D since MMORPGs came out.
I'm really disappointed at this point in time with the game, The UI is VERY clunky, Camera controls are horrible, Roll system is terrible,(only cause i missed 22 attacks in 1 game, Captain america, spider-man, Venom and daredevil all making attacks against Hogun and missing every single one lol), and there are NO matches... If you do find a match the UI is very skimp on the details, i've clicked "Select build" idk how many times thinking it will help get into the game faster. both players should check ready and have a count down before entering game, this way you know its doing something, instead of waiting 10 minutes for it not to go into game.

Aaannnndddd....Done! Took just under 6 hours to download the tiny little 180MB update (ouch!!!)
Nothing but problems. I can't get into a game. It either sits there and does nothing or it freezes every time I got into the game. Either the servers weren't prepared for the traffic or else something is seriously wrong with the software.

Pretty sure one of the reasons it's so slow is that you have to click on and perform every step of every action as you're playing in HCO as opposed to real life where you can get through an entire turn in just a minute or two. Also, there are potentially thousands of people trying to sign up and download things. The traffic right now is especially heavy.
All I'm asking of everybody is that if you think it is full of problems as eliotblacknigh does, please report the bugs using the "Report Bug" tool, be as specific as possible, and anything that is more of a suggestion than a bug, use the HCO forum to make constructive suggestions.

I assure you that the dice generator is completely random and based on actual probability. To be completely fair, you are also describing attacking a character with an 18 defense with characters with opening AV's of 9 and 10. Also, if there are things about the UI that you don't like or have suggestions on how to fix, please use the HCO forum and make suggestions in the "Suggestions" thread. Help to fix the problems so it can be what you want it to be.

I will once again direct you to the "Suggestions" thread on the HCO forum. I was finally able to get into the game. It has a ton of potential. Need smoother animations as it is very choppy which may be due to heavier traffic than usual. I'm still trying to figure out the camera as it is difficult to see and zoom in or out. I found myself using the overhead mode almost exclusively. But again, the potential is there for a really fun experience.

Oh I am far from being part of the problem , the problem lies with the development and developers of the game. Complaints on the dice rolls, yes i know they are random, just ranting cause my rolls were stinky all night. As far the UI issues, No one can honestly sit here and say "ya i love the camera". Trust when I say I have filled out bug reports till my fingers bleed. But the state of the game is just really horrible, thats all i am implying. And yes constructive suggestions are always good, but ranting and getting somthing off your chest sometimes feels good too.

Truer words have never been spoken. Especially if you are feeling let down by something you had high hopes for. It's a lot better now than it was 5 months ago, though. You should have seen it when most of the figures were just red blocks with absolutely no definition and 80% of the powers didn't work correctly. There was a time when they had to turn super senses off for all characters because it crashed games just to roll it. I kept plugging along through those days, so the errors in game now are really not that bad to me.
I've gotten into about 3 games now and it is fun. Patience is the key though. There are still some bugs and you must take your time making your selection and waiting for the program to respond. If you try to go too fast or click a lot of things at once, it will screw things up and you'll be frustrated. Since I started taking my time, making a selection, and then allowing the game to catch up, far less problems.

The lag is probably a hardware problem on their end. The camera is a software issue. The camera is very difficult to navigate and use correctly. Great post. You stated what I've been trying to convey. patience and the willingness to "Work with it" is the key in the beta process. If you want to control the camera manually, click on the "C" button and then select "Free Control."
"X" out of the camera select screen and you will now be able to use the keyboard in combo with the mouse to move the camera around. There is one of my "SLVRSR4's Help corners" in the HCO forums that gives you camera control directions. Hope that helps.
I can't even see the whole screen window. And now all it shows is a fullscreen black page with a blue square. That's all it does? Best game I never played!

I like the direction a lot! But there is still lots of work that needs to be done. Like searching by key word and such. And shorter time on the chess clock. Some people are just sooooo slow.

In three hours I was able to play one game. Got 3 others started but one I was playing alone and the other 2 games crashed when we placed out characters.
The one game I did play was very fun. I see a lot of potential and with choppy graphics aside it was still worth playing.
The complaint I have currently is the start issues. Seems to be quite a few bugs just to start it up. Either its just a black screen with a chat window, cant join others games, constantly locks up, games start but screen goes blank. All these problems require an entire restart of the program.
I am glad to see the game come out but simple log-in issues should be close to solved before beta. Beta should be more for game bugs/exploits.
Just my 2cents.

i'll just stick to Heroclix in their plastic 3D form.
I havent been able to play a single game. I pick the map and then when it tells me to place my figures in the starting area , it just sends me back to the lobby. I cant even chat , how do you chat, I can see others chatting. I had 1000 bucks then I bought a booster and then I had no more bucks, the booster was 10 bucks.

If you log out and log back in, you'll get 1000 credits again.
As for selecting figures, did fail to select a force? Did your opponent? It appears that there is either a lot of people who are not selecting a force when they get into a game or there is a bug whereby the system is not recognizing the selections being made. When this happens, the system ends the game and kicks you back to the lobby.
As for chatting, you have to select the button on the bottom of the screen. I haven't had any problems with it once the screen resolution was properly set. Initially, it was cutting off the bottom of my screen. Once I changed the resolution in the "Options" link before logging into the system, all was well.
I have now been able to play about 5-6 games. I think there is great potential. However, the lag is so bad sometimes that it makes it difficult to play.
I think the engine being used is questionable. There is some pretty cool detail to the digital sculpts but the camera angles are so clumsy that you never see them. You have to play the majority of the game in the overhead view which you cannot zoom into so it really was a total waste to spend time on the digital figures.
There are certainly a number of bugs too. For example, I have found that you cannot carry a figure holding mjolnir. Multiple times I was able to use Sif to carry two figures. When using running shot, the lag is so bad that sometimes I am not able to choose a target and therefore I lose my opportunity to make the attack. Finally, it is a total crapshoot if I am able to get into a game or else it will just never load after I join a game.
Even in spite of all of these bugs, I think this could still work. The games are relatively fun and the interaction is a lot like heroclix. Patience is absolutely required but if you have some time, it is worth checking out. However, until the system speed is increased significantly I don't think the game will get much of a following.

Is there a graphics card requirement for this game?. I havent bought one for my PC as i use the inbuild graphics as i never play games. I tried playing this beta yesterday and it looked like predator heat vision. If i need to buy a graphics card please tell me the minimum requirements please.
My integrated graphics is a intel 82945g

In any Beta I have ever been a part of, you do not get to carry over what you played in Beta. That may not be the case for all of them, as I have not played them all. For this game though, don't count on anything carrying over.

Hey all.... has anyone else noticed the statistical problems with the rolling system in the New HeroClix Online. It's like they put a straight random number generator in it instead of a weighted random number generator. With 2 dice numbers 7 should be the highest concentration of rolls, then 6 and 8, then 5 and 9 and so on.... This doesn't seem to be the case with the new program. Anyone else see that as well?

Terrible format, the screen is hard to see what is going on, it constantly locks up and doesn't function well. I want my money back. I'll stick to playing with the normal miniatures
