This review isn't about about a character. It's about a power; A Great Power.

A brand-new, never before seen ultimate freezing power with the ability to shatter worlds and bring
RUIN AND DARKNESS TO THE MULTIVERSE FOREVER!

Well actually, not nearly that strong. But still really quite good. If you're new to Heroclix, let me explain what Ice from the DC 75th Anniversary set can do for your game.

If she hits with Incapacitate, no game effect can move or place her target away from the square(s) it currently occupies until the beginning of your next turn.
<img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80851/HCRealms.com/201105/dc_ice.jpg" style="width:171px;padding-right:4px" align="left" title="Anybody want a snow cone?">Like all great Norwegian super-heroes, Ice can... er... can speak Norwegian. I guess she has nothing in common with other Norwegian super-heroes (http://www.hcrealms.com/index.php?page=units&id=ha016). Never mind.

What she has got is a power we've never seen before, one with my favourite HeroClix phrase, the one that says no other game effect can undo this power*. When she Incapacitates them, that's it, they're stuck.

And a lot of the game is about movement. Moving from a safe place to a close attack with Charge. Hypersonic moving from safety and back to safety. Ice can prevent all that - if she hits. It could really frost up your opponent's plans, and leave them feeling cold. If you play multiple versions of Ice, all those enemies trapped in place could really cause some congestion.

Top tip: Don't ignore her other powers! 3 damage (using RCE) is nothing to sneeze at, while using Barrier to form a diamond-shape wall around an opponent who was ready to attack can give the opposing player a headache. Ice can cough up a lot of options for your team, and you know what we always say about options: sign us up!

Here's the Math: As of today's date, there were 6 clever Freeze In Place tricks provided by HCRealms members on Ice's unit review page. There were 9 stupid jokes about ice, coldness or catching cold in this review.

*Except for Outwit, of course.

Got a sneaky trick for Ice that we've missed? Add it to the list by posting your comments in the HCRealms.com units review. (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299769)

This review needs a clip of Val Kilmer at the end of Real Genius.

Very nice review. Definitely an overlooked piece that I may need to try out sometime.

I love this fig. Under 50 points for an up front 10 AV, a sweet Incap, and RCE with 8 range is nothing to sneeze at. AA Question has outwit and perplex for 37 points, and ice fights for that place being only ten points more for 3 damage, leap/climb, RCE, barrier and stopping anybody from that charge.

Alright, you've sold me on her. An overlooked figure that I'll bust out and try and pull some shennanigans with... Thanks for the nudge.

I have a small force build coming up on Wednesday....(No fig over 50 points) I have never even looked at this piece, but WOW....great review and she will fit nicely on a team like the one i need to build.

no other game effect can undo or cancel this power. When she Incapacitates them, that's it, they're stuck.

I'm not sure where you're seeing this. The power itself doesn't say anything about not being able to be canceled. If you outwit her power, then they're not stuck anymore are they?

I like tyroclix's entry in her review section the best.

My last JLI team opted to use the Fire & Ice duo, but this one might make the next version.

How does "Shifting Foliage" on the Krakoa map affect a character Ice has frozen in place? Is the target forced to move, as it cannot occupy blocking terrain?

They likely have to move to the starting area. Its why they errata'd the Hawkworld map, her combo on this map was insane.

Good Review, I too have overlooked this peice. Going to have to give her a go!

I hadn't played her until I repainted one to her Black Lantern outfit and ran her on a team of other BL mods/ repaints. She was certainly the most suprising MVP for that game and she's become a staple on other teams.

Highly underrated, but one of my new fav's. :)

In the new rulebook any game effect that has a specific duration )like Incap which says to remove the tokens at the end of the turn) does not end when the power is countered.

Barrier is another one that doesn't go bye-bye when countered because it states the markers are removed at the beginning of your turn. So you can push to use barrier and if you lose the power, the markers still remain on the battlefield.

Don't have her and don't want her. It does annoy me that I will have to target a 47 point figure as soon as I see her across the table.

You may want to read that again.
Whenever a power or ability is countered
or lost, all game effects with a duration specified
by that power or ability immediately end. Effects
without a duration specified by that power or ability
remain in play even when the power is countered
or lost.
Barrier does indeed have a specific duration, so Barrier tokens are removed if Barrier is countered or lost. Incapacitate does not specify a duration, so any action tokens placed with Incapacitate remains if the power is countered or lost.
Freeze in place does specify a duration, so if it is countered or lost the targeted figure is free to move again.

Correction noted. Thanks, Damon and Quebbster.
