DVD Marathon 4: DVDs in Space!
Welcome to the fourth game in my continuing DVD Marathon series: DVDs in Space! First the rules of the mafia game:
1) All the standard disclaimers apply (no contacting each other outside the game unless specifically told you can do so, no quoting PMs I send you, no talking once you are removed from the game, no editing your posts, etc)
2) If you have not been told you have a specific alignment in your role PM, then you are TOWN. Whatever your alignment, you will win when all threats to your alignment have been eliminated or when your alignment couldn’t possibly lose.
3) When determining the order of night actions, if two actions would conflict, I will go with the action that was submitted first. Hopefully this will encourage you to submit actions on time
4) If you fail to send in night actions three nights in a row, I will either replace or mod-kill you, depending on what is best for the game.
5) Please bold your votes for other characters like so: VOTE for normalview. I will take any and all posts that are reasonably close to a lynch vote (e.g. “lynch normalview”, “vote: normalview”, etc) as long as they are in bold.
6) Last but not least, not only are you all playing characters from my family’s DVD collection, you are caricatures of those characters. So while you might be familiar with the source material, do not be surprised if I exaggerate and over emphasized particular things (mostly because I think they are funny).
Oh, yeah, almost forgot:
7) Really, TRULY, last, there will be opportunities to answer trivia and win prizes each day. These prizes will typically be a special night power. The first player to PM me the correct answer for the trivia will win the prize. I will try to post the trivia questions at different times on different days as I am aware that different players are in different time zones and I don’t want to favor any one particular schedule over another.

“Wow! MST3K VS Gamera will be released in August! I need to start watching my other stuff to get ready!” (seriously, if you’ve been needing a Gamera fix, the 21st box set being released by Shout! Factory will be out and August and will have every Gamera episode of MST3K! Check it out!)
Jeff began to pull all the various boxed sets and single DVDs of Mystery Science Theater 3000 out of the case and started sorting them into piles. “So, do I want to go chronologically this time? By genre? Oooh… I don’t think I’ve done alphabetically before…” Piles were resorted and then placed next to the DVD player. However, before he inserted the first disc into the player, Jeff paused.
“Wait a minute. The last couple times I’ve done this, I’ve exactly had the best experiences.”
Considering the disc in his hand, watching the rainbow spray of colors ripple from the surface as the sun light from the window struck the back the of the DVD, Jeff weighed his options.
“Well, things haven’t gone well lately, true, but MST3K has never hurt me before. Plus, it isn’t like I can just watch all these movies any old time; free days like this are becoming even harder to come across. Besides, I can always take precautions.”
And with that, Jeff set the DVD down and left the room…
… about 10 minutes later, Jeff entered the living room again, going over a check list as he approached the DVD player a second time.
“Alarm set to wake me if I zone out? Check! Liquor cabinet locked to prevent irresponsible drinking games and black outs? Check! Protective sparing gear and pads to avoid physical injury resulting in unconsciousness? Check! I am ready to go!”
It was kind of hard to get the DVD into the player with the heavy padded gloves Jeff was now wearing, and the headgear kept slipping down over his eyes (“I’ll have to remember to tighten that strap once I am sitting down”), but he eventually fumbled the first disc into place.
The DVD began to play and the menu appeared on the screen. “Excellent,” Jeff said to himself as he headed over to the wall, “Now to just turn off the overhead lights and the movie can begin.”
Just as he flipped the light switch, a very sudden an violent storm rolled in and blasted the house with a lightning bolt! All the breakers tripped and surge protectors surged and protected, but some of the high voltage strike coursed through the wiring of the house to reach the switch and arc across to Jeff’s finger anyway. Jeff was blasted through the air and landed in the pile of DVD boxes he had so carefully arranged earlier. As he the dark embrace of unconsciousness began to engulf him, Jeff’s glassy eyes temporarily focus on the bone-shaped image of the Satellite of Love on one of the box covers…

Deep in the recesses of Jeff’s mind, barely healed from previous psychological trauma brought about by other DVD mishaps, THINGS began to stir:

“MOVIE SIGN!”
“But then where is the movie?”
“I don’t know! Wait something is coming out of the screen?”
“Coming out? Is this some kind of 3D experiment?”
*CRASH*
“Uh, judging by the way it just trashed the theater seats, I am guessing “No, this is not a 3D experiment! Run!”

“Cambot, let me see in the theater!”
“Wow, they’ve already taken out all the lights. We can barely see anything.”
“Yeah, there seems to be more and more of whatever they are pouring out of the theater screen! We’re going to be overrun!”
“Quick! To the escape pod in the crate of hamdingers!”
“Too late, they are breaking through the doors! Hide!”

Mysterious forms flitted about the corridors of the Satellite of Love. Some definitely seemed human (or at least, humanoid)… others much less so. Regardless of their shape, they all seemed to be searching for something. A way off the Satellite, perhaps?

In the darkness of the destroyed theater, one sinister shape chuckled to itself.
“Now we can have our revenge!” hissed the sinister shape and it began to laugh more deeply. Around the shape, other, even less distinct blobs, joined in the laughter.

Jeff (normalview) has been incapacitated… for a fourth time… and removed from the game. Day 1 begins now and will end in 24 hours. With 14 players remaining, 8 votes are needed for majority

Like host segment that never really went anywhere and wasn’t too terribly funny, the day just kind of petered out…
However, Menace! Intrigue! Murder! Suspicion! and Waffles! all lay just around the corner, lurking in the dark of night.
Day 1 has ended. No majority was reached.
Since today is Friday, I will give you 36 hours to submit Night 1 actions. Enjoy your weekend!

Within the murky confines of Jeff’s brain box, flickering images of the Satellite of Love became more focused and realistic with each passing minute. So too did the strange beings now inhabiting that Satellite: beings that had seemingly sprung fully formed from the theater screen. Between the fractured nature of Jeff’s psyche and the damage done to the SOL’s systems causing wide-spread power outages, it was difficult to see these new beings. Some were clearly human(oid) and others… much less so.
His shattered mind tried to make sense of what it was seeing and these are some of the more easily interpreted scenes playing through his imagination:

The slight form slipped quietly from corridor to corridor, intent upon its target. When it rounded a corner, though, it ran smack dab into one of the largest shapes it had ever seen. Pausing for a moment to rub its now bruised nose, the slight form pondered the ponderous bulk in front of it, completely surprised to see the large shape… and before it could decide what to do, it found itself talked into something called “spotting” and “doing reps”. These “reps” filled the remainder of the night.

The odd creature peered carefully around the bulkhead, observing its target further down the corridor. Luckily, this did not seem to be his nemesis… he was safe for now. Turning back around the bulkhead, the odd creature began to tip-toe away, chuckling quietly to itself at its good fortune when a… thing… a horrible misshapen thing silently bowled him over. The thing continue on its way, not even pausing to check to see if the odd creature was alive or dead, and the odd creature lay there still for a moment. After that moment, though, it sat up, brushed itself off and said, “Huh. That was weird,
and then continued on its way.

And with that, the figments of Jeff's imagination settled back into a fitful slumber, content to let the evening progress at a leisurely pace. Plenty of time for mayhem and destruction tomorrow...

Laying low, trying to remain as inconspicuous as possible, Krankor suddenly began to feel nauseous. He had been hiding in a room filled with underwear, making some nice hot chocolate with the Interocitor he had found, but now suddenly the hot chocolate turned evil on him and rebelled…
A few moments later, as he wiped at his mouth with the back of his hand, he noticed his skin was covered with odd lesions that had DEFINITELY not been there a couple hours ago. Frantically, he ran to the Interocitor and used it polished intensifier disc as a make-shift mirror: sure enough, his whole face (including his beak-like nose) was chock full of these lesions.
Nausea… skin lesions… it didn’t take his alien mind long to recognize the signs of radiation poisoning! Alas, this realization came too late, and before he could leave his little hidey-hole to seek help, he collapsed on the floor coughing, retching, twitching. Oddly enough, his pitiful choking sounded a lot like his trademark evil laugh: Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh… It didn’t take long, though, for that noise and all movement to stop.
Silver Lantern is dead! He was Krankor (from episode 816: Prince of Space), town!

Also, one other thing. He says he missed out on the game being open, but I'm betting he was online during the Day and Night phase in which he received his role-pm. Not being aware of the game seems a little weak at this point... especially since I know my action succeeded.
So I'm thinking, sure... maybe MSU DID miss the deadline to submit an action, but unless he's a SK, this would most likely mean his mafia buddies submitted an action for him. I don't typically see town roles having a "Must" statement with their powers.

You are all insane because the only information Kness could have gotten from me is that I am neutral - yes, I am the survivor and I am also a clue cop because I leave the game early if I guess everyone's ID and submit it each night to the MOD.

Apparently I have been in two episodes and I am so pissed at being mocked that I don't care who wins, except I am making a list of all those who mocked me or something...there was a more detailed explanation about my win condition and my character if you all want it.

First off, i looked at my role PM and my full name is Joe Don Baker and I am the star of Mitchell (Episode 512) and Final Justice (Episode 1008) from MST3K.
Second off, yes, I was online when I got my role PM, I did not go to the thread, it is my bad and I already apologied to everyone about it (mainly the mod).
I did it for another game that I can't talk about too...I am really bad on Day 1s lately.
And before the SKer gets any ideas - I win with all factions.

With night fast approaching, the figments in Jeff’s head begin to stir. Compared to the previous evening, their activity tonight seems almost frantic. Shapes stalked forms, phantoms prowled passageways, and hidden figures were heckled.

The creepy guy was absorbed in reading a piece of paper, trying to decide where to go next when a large shape came around a corner and began talking to the creepy guy. The large shape began to offer him some tips on something called “cardio” and the creepy guy seemed intrigued enough to stick around and listen. After the motorcycle left, a horrible misshapen thing ran down the hallway, plowing through the (still) on-going activity. The misshapen thing didn’t even pause and moved further down the corridor and into the darkness on its way and the activity, seemingly unperturbed by the interruption, continued.

Pumaman was sitting in a corner, whining (as usual). He still hadn’t yet really come to terms with his powers and his ancestry, so he instead chose to do nothing. He was picking lint off of his khaki pants (because that’s what superheroes wear: khaki) and muttering about how ridiculous this whole thing was when he heard a noise in the shadows above! Springing like a cat, he dodged to the side, barely avoiding the glittering object thrown at his head! Out of the shadows, more objects (some wooden, others metal) came flying at Pumaman, so he took to the air trying to fly away. But he flies… poorly… and soon enough a shiny brass horn found its mark, embedding itself in the base of Pumaman’s skull and he plummeted to the unforgiving metal floor of the Satellite. A trilling laugh echoed from the shadows and then silence…

Cruising at a comfortable 6 ft above the Satellite decking, the Starfighter jet was quietly humming to itself. Da-duh-duh-duh. Da-duh-duh.
“Boy, that sure was a good refueling last night,” it thought to itself. “It took a while, but I can’t wait to do it again.”
Da-duh-duh-duh. Da-duh-du-whaaa?
Suddenly its instruments died, leaving the Starfighter dead in the air. Without any idea where it was or where it was headed, it began to careen off the bulkheads in the corridor.
“What is happening?” the jet thought frantically to itself. “I wonder if this is caused by that radiation surge I experienced last night?”
Crash! The jet slammed nose first into a wall as it came to a t-intersection.
“Quick! Put on the poopy suit!” But it was too late. Exploding in a ball of fire, the jet was quickly consumed in an inferno and would never fly again.

The angry crowd surrounded the amalgamation of fantasy tropes. He pulled out two swords to try and fight off the mob, screaming, “I was trying to aid you, you fools!” but the numbers were too great and he was quickly disarmed. He managed to pull free from the clutches of the enraged crowd for a moment (long enough to kill and skin a deer, tan and stretch the hide, learn to extrude an anodized aluminum frame, and master the principles of aerodynamics) and tried to fly to safety with his hang glider. In the close confines of the Satellites corridors, though, he could not attain the height necessary to escape the mob and was brought down, never to rise again.

Night fell over the blasted dreamscape Jeff now called a mind and the MSTie figments of his imagination were restless. All were actively prowling, searching, or attacking tonight, making the previous two nights seem positively benign in comparison. The action came so quick and fast that it was difficult to tell what all happened, but a few scenes flashed into clarity…

“Sit here and keep an eye out, little guy. I’ve got to go do some reps and I’ll be back later.”

The large shape was walking down the corridor, unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows. A shiny missile flew from the shadows toward the unsuspecting shape, but he was tackled to the floor by a slovenly figure at the last instant! A piercing shriek of rage echoed from the shadows, causing the two on the floor to clutch their ears and howl in pain. After a few moments of silence, their ears still ringing, they rose to investigate the shadows, but the attacker was long gone.

The horrible misshapen thing was prowling bulled ahead, swatting one unfortunate soul out of the way, whose only mistake had been to pick that particular spot to play with a little doll holding a bowl. It seemed to be in a bad mood. “Maybe a joy ride would cheer it up?” thought the motorcycle to itself. The motorcycle zoomed in next to the thing and scooped it up before it realized what happening and they were off!

The combined panicked motions of the two, though, just caused the shape to wrap tighter and tighter around its unintended victim. With one last lunge, the billowy shape pulled itself free and flew away into the night, but by then it was too late for the unfortunate creature on the motorcycle.

The sluggish inertia from earlier in the day seemed to carry over into the night. Perhaps they had simply exhausted themselves after the flurry of activity the previous night? Or maybe the Commercial Sign had gone off and Jeff just hadn’t noticed? Either way, very little activity of note occurred and only a few scattered images coalesced in Jeff’s battered brain cage.

The slovenly figure was running. Huffing. Puffing. Doing his best to avoid the… whatever it was that was chasing him. He couldn’t see it, it always stuck to the shadows, but he knew it was there. The slovenly figure scooted around a corner as fast as he could and, to his left, he spotted a service hatch that had been left ajar. He dove into the opening and (sort of) rolled to the side so that he couldn’t be seen from the corridor. Holding his breath, heart hammering in chest, the figure strained to listen for his pursuer. Sure enough, a trilling noise grew louder and then seemed to pause in the corridor intersection. After a few moments of silence, a piercing shriek tore through the corridors and the slovenly figure clutched his ears in silent agony. After the slovenly man had recovered enough of his senses to peek through the hatch, there was nothing to see in the corridor…

The motorcycle cruised down a corridor, intent upon its target. However, when it came to an intersection, it found its desired path blocked by a large ‘Detour’ sign. Shrugging its metaphorical shoulders, the motorcycle continued down a different path, scooping an unsuspecting passenger up along the way in its sidecar.

David “Rip Slabcheek” Ryder stood in front of the billowy shape, showing off his impressive physique. “Yeah, and I totally bench, like, 250 for 10 reps. I usually do 5 sets of reps, but today I was just feeling like pushing it to the max and I just powered through for 8 whole sets. It was pretty awesome.”
The billowy shape seemed unimpressed, though, and was looking for a way to extricate itself and go about its business when the sound of a revving engine cut off Ryder’s work-out monologue. A motorcycle buzzed between the two without pause, but after it had passed into darkness further down the corridor, the billowy shape noticed Ryder had slumped to the decking, a flute embedded between his eyes. “Hmph,” thought the billowy shape, “At least that means I don’t have to sit here and listen to him anymore,” and it continued on its way.

Based on remaining numbers we, sadly, probably have a better than 25% chance of lynching Mafia even if we went with someone random.
We had 14 initial players, so I assume 2-3 remaining Mafia out of 7 total.
