Why IS Carrot Top famous?

My guess is that somewhere out there, some promoter had a bad day. His investments tanked, his wife left him for her tennis coach, his boss gave him a chewing out, and his dog died... and this promoter, who by now had nothing left to lose, saw this bizarre geeky redheaded man who wore eyeshadow and who seemed to think he was a standup comedian... and decided to inflict him on the world at large as REVENGE.

And after the talent agency fired that particular promoter... it was too late. They had a contract. All they could do was promote Carrot Top and hope that America didn't catch on before they could make a profit somehow...

Personally, I think Carrot Top has some incriminating photographs of someone and has used them to his full advantage.

The worst thing is, when he just used to do stand-up on TV, he was a prop comic. The important thing in his act was his props. The cameras never had to focus in on him specifically. Now that he plugs collect phone calls, HE is the subject. That means ocassionally the cameras come in for close ups. He has to have the scariest grill I have ever seen. "Next on Plastic Surgeries Gone Wrong, we'll tell the story of Joe "Carrot Top" Schmoe. Look what his doctor did to him." I mean, this man is ugh-ly!

The funny thing is, someone took an online poll of the top 100 obnoxious things in 2002. Carrot Top was THE #1 most obnoxious thing in America for 2002! I wholeheartedly agree.

Actually he was quite funny. At least when he was hungry. When he was starting out his props and jokes were great. And he wasn't JUST a prop comic. His best jokes (or at least the ones I've heard) didn't involve a prop at all.

But he's a one trick pony and when one trick ponies get famous and try to branch out, they die. VERY quickly.

I can see why Carrot Top WAS famous. But now? Nope.

He had some wonderful props when he did comedy. He was like a mini galligar (sorry don't know how to spell- remember the guy who hit watermellons with a sledge hammer?)

as a prop comic he was second best only to the sledge-o-matic guy.

now... well he's dialing for cash?
