In X-Men the movie, Rouge is trapped in metal chains around her arms, so she can't escape the chair.when magneto touches her and almost dies, shouldn't she get his powers and just fly away, free all of the X-men and have them defeat the brotherhood

Shes too young in the movie and inexperienced. She hasnt learned to control her powers let alone use them in an offensive matter.
you are absolutely right, now i hate that movie, thanks.
Besides the point that Rogue doesn't have much experiece with Magneto's powers, one can presume that Magneto isn't stupid and used non-ferrous metals in those chains. :)
My question is that if she is all good, and an X-man, when will she join the Brotherhood and get flight on her own?
maybe it was just a movie and some small error was made in the storyline?

I doubt very much that the movie will be following the comics at all.It will probably have all its own stories and use only characters from the actual comics.
Not at all.
Think about it. We have here an inexperienced and terrified teenager, and a calm, confident, and utterly fanatical older man.
When he touched her, she absorbed not only his powers, but at least a portion of his mind, yes?
At that point, the calm, confident fanatic mind (or portion thereof) now housed within Rogue knew quite well that Magneto wasn't gonna die. Magneto would be just peachy, quite safe. Consequently, that mind (or portion thereof) had no qualms about forcing Rogue to go through with the plan.
Makes sense, I think. At least, that's how I interpreted it.
