Jesus christ. It's like gimmick heaven for everyone. This is getting to be overdone. We dont need this many fast forces and this many versions of all the characters.

I am beggining to feel that WK is catering to the cry-baby group of clixers. If you missed something...oh well. No need to keep reprinting it. This is still a collectible game guys....

The article said they have been designed from the ground up to work together so I would assume that means that they are going to have new dials. I'm looking forward some incarnation of these characters to my collection because I don't want to drop $85.00 for the collector's set.

It's because when I finally turned 18 I stopped putting the small plastic pieces in my mouth and choking on it. I am the reason for tops collapsing. My parents went sue happy for my need to choke on tiny plastic figures.

Justin and I have been poking this particular bear of late. Expect to hear something in the near-future.

Yes, really. ;)

And before folk start bringing "soon" into this, please note that this has not been the easiest process to put into place. I won't get into details at this time, but we will explain what's been going on and why this has been challenging to implement.

Just be patient a little longer is all I ask. All will be well.

I, for one, am all about the Fast Forces. Blister packaging and MAPS, could not think of anything better. I would LOVE more unique sculpts, but if re-using sculpts is the only cost-effective way to put this out then I'm on board all the way.

There isn't a single reason why more of these shouldn't be made.

As long as the announcement has a clever title like "A Rose by any other name..." Followed by an announcement that you've brought Rose from the old warehouse back to manage the program. :)

To the others asking about new dials:

There's your answer. New dials. Huzzah! :classic:

I still think the collector's set was worth it, if for no other reason than the box is purty.
I waited to pick it up for $40, simply because the box and half of the figures were of no interest for me. The ones I wanted just went straight into the tackle trays with the rest of my figures.
Now I have this damn box taking up space I don't have while I wait to amass enough references to put up a sale thread. :)
As far as this new release, I'm really hoping for a 200-point Zenhattan to be able to use by himself... I love my OMA's!

Was hoping for another Giant Manhattan, but this will do...
When the 25 piece set released, I won it at a tourney for free, traded away most of it, kept everything Manhattan and everything Ozy.. So I won 25 figs and kept 6... but I kept the best 6! Looks like I need to pick this up just for another Ozy and Manhattan! Dunno why, but I love these 2 characters!

I would have honestly prefered if they did since it would be another chance getting some Knot Tops/Top Knots generics for my street crime teams and I don't think we will get another chance of them soon since we don't get a watchmen gravity feed

I brought the big boxed set but never really used it because it was near impossible to runa Watchmen team with a set points value. My friend was over and looking at it enviously so I ended up giving it to him for his birthday.

The idea of a set that is made to play as a certain point value is more appealing to me.

Just because something doesn't benefit you doesn't mean it is a bad idea. These aren't reprints - they are different figures - so your collectible aspect of the game remains. It's just that now, more people are happy, not just you.

I didn't miss the Watchman, I just chose not to buy it. Now, I will buy it. That means they get $15 of money to buy product that cost them very little to develop and change. If there are more like me, and judging by the thread, there are, then that is good business.

Keep the Fast Forces coming. I love small sets that have teams ready to play out of the box.

Collectible or not, I'm really starting to like these Fast Forces packs. I've been clixing on the narrowest and most insubstantial of shoestrings for the last five years (marriage and un-marriage will do that to a guy), picking up the odd booster, rummaging through collections of singles at the few nearby hobby/gaming stores in the area, and trying to trade my old junk for someone's slightly-less-old junk. I spent $30 on Gravity Feed GLs the other week and felt absolutely decadent doing so. I'm sure with the economy as it is, I'm not the only gamer who has had to seriously scale back (or eliminate) their hobbies for the sake of making rent, putting gas in the car, and/or keeping food on the table.

On that shoestring, I couldn't justify plunking down $100 on the (admittedly very nice-looking) collector's set. 20 of the 26 I wouldn't feel compelled to use. I'm not a big fan of duos, rarely use giants or alter egos, and most of the rest of the characters (the Minutemen, the Knot Tops, Big Figure, Moloch, etc.) would rarely see any play from me and would sit in their sweet-looking collector's case collecting dust. At the end of the day, I'd really only feel compelled to play Nite Owl, Rorschach, Silk Spectre, normal-sized Dr. Manhattan, and Ozymandias.

$15 on six characters I'd play vs. $100 on six characters I'd play and twenty I wouldn't. Seems like easy math to me. Maps, dice, and instructions are gravy. The GL Fast Forces previews prove that these packs will most likely contain some pretty playable figures (and has me hopeful that the Warriors Three and Loki in FF: Thor won't be horrible).

WK is in business (as most businesses are) to make money. I think it's shrewd marketing to try and package product to the budget-conscious clixer.

Looks pretty cool, and I was a tad underwhelmed with some of the collector's set dials so I may pick this up. Watchmen maps will be welcome, too. Bit of a missed opportunity for sculpts, though - I wish they had broken up some of the duos for variety, which were more dynamic in many cases.

I would have liked:

Nite Owl & Comedian from that duo figure, but split up
Rorschach from the Nite Owl/Rorschach duo
Dr. Manhattan from the Dr. Manhattan/Silk Spectre duo

You don't really get many other options for Ozy, and the individually based Silk Spectre is much better than the Dr. Manhatta/Silk Spectre version of her.

Too bad they didn't use the sculpts of the figures that were on the Duos

Silk Spectre/Dr. Manhattan
Comedian/Night Owl
Rorschach/Night Owl

So, two choices for the Night Owl, I'm partial to the on one the same dial as Rorschach.

MopedKid86
06/03/2011, 23:09
Since I've been bent on getting Rorschach but didn't wanna shell out 20$ for him, I'm rather hoping they're the same. Though as long as a dial's accurate, I suppose there's nothing wrong with new ones...

Good work WK!

The idea of a set that is made to play as a certain point value is more appealing to me.

Did you even try?

002 Silk Spectre
003 Nite Owl
= 99 points

003 Nite Owl
001 Rorschach
006 The Comedian (or 004 Ozymandias)
= 193 points

003 Nite Owl
013 Walter Kovacs
011 Dr. Manhattan
= 196 points

001 Rorschach
003 Nite Owl
006 The Comedian (or 004 Ozymandias)
011 Dr. Manhattan
= 298 points

005 Dr. Manhattan
006 The Comedian (or 004 Ozymandias)
013 Walter Kovacs
= 397 points

001 Rorschach
002 Silk Spectre
005 Dr. Manhattan
021 The Comedian and Nite Owl
= 495 points

And the easiest one of all to throw together:
001 Rorschach
002 Silk Spectre
003 Nite Owl
004 Ozymandias
005 Dr. Manhattan
006 The Comedian
= 598 points

There are even one or two more configurations... but you can very easily build anything from 100 to 600 points with these figures.
Just saying. :)

That's why I didn't pay full MSRP. I waited until it was discounted to less than half price. Otherwise, I just wouldn't have bought it at all, as it just wasn't worth that price to me.

Aaaauuuurrrrggghhhhh!!!

Speak for yourself.

First: I bought the Big Box when it came out for the whole 100 and I don:t feel slapped. New dials = new figures.
Second: also there were more good figures in the set than the 6 we get in the FF-Pack.
Third: also ziran said from the start that they would probably rerelease some watchmen figures in another form so if someone who bought the big box is really peeved about it he didn't inform himself before

As someone said in the Thread earlier there is no downside with this FF-Pack

Another Thing for the guys talking about new figures in FF-Packs like in BD or BN: For Now the Fast Forces Pack is the love child of Classic Packs and Action Packs.
Ziran said that we won't see that many action packs in the future because they were not profitable for wk. Since the only difference between FF-Packs and Action-Packs is that Action Packs had new Figures I think that the developement of new sculpts is the cost factor here. So it is not impossible but very unlikely we will have figures in future fast forces (future fast forces figures - say that 10 times fast) packs which are no reprints of old figures

Comes with map: nice.. Comes with dice: yay! Comes with a rule sheet: Thank the powers that be!!!

I do not and will never like the watchmen; However I will get this pack for the map.

Do you really have to use his name as a swear word, I'm sure there are plenty of other words that could be used in lieu of this. Before anyone lectures me on freedom of speech, I know all about it, I just think it would be respectful of some peoples belief (like me). Thanks.

As for reprinting things, perhaps they are doing it for new players who weren't around when the original Watchmen set came out. On the other hand, as long as they try creating new dials instead of rehashing the old ones, perhaps it would feel less gimmicky. I have to say though, the sculpts look really cool!

I feel bad for you guys who bought the original set, what with the WizKids Police coming to bust in and take your figures from you and all that.

I'm all in favor of making figures more afford-ably available to most people at some later date, so I guess even if the dials were exactly the same I'd be in favor of this set (I paid near MSRP for the collector's set).

However, it seems to be the case with the FF sets that the dials are not the same, so with that in mind those who bought the collector's set still have something unique to that set. It also gives those of us with the collector's set a reason to buy the FF set - I wouldn't buy it if all 6 dials were reprints.

I guess a decent comparison might be to say that if I had the Origin chase Alfred, I wouldn't be upset about the Alpha version being released because it's a different figure altogether. Sure, same character and same sculpt, but he plays differently.

I bought the CS and I am excited to see these redialed plus the maps. This will add some team building flexibility which I look forward to. Nice job Wizkids!

Fantastic! Super excited! I've already got all these guys, but I always like to have multiple options for powers/points cost for one character if I'm trying to fit them on a team.
