We could think of no one finer to follow up our “Head of H.A.T.E.” preview article than someone who is literally and truthfully a head full of hate! It is with great pleasure we unveil a special, bonus preview: the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, or M.O.D.O.K.! [...]

Cant wait to head butt someone with that pulse wave
Contingency Plan

That Pulse Wave power is absolutely awesome. Just screams to have team mates tie up people, and have him Pulse Wave them to bits.
Definitely a must have for me from this set.

Looks like Scientist teams just got even deadlier. MODOK + 3 researchers = 7 penetrating damage for only 205 points. OUCH!

Did you give us this preview because everyone was whining? C'mon wizkids, don't give in like that! Keep the rebels in order!
I wonder how big Modok will be?

Very nice...so many guys in chairs on the scientist squad.
Not a "must have" but a "must fight agaisnt".

My word...This is my must have.
I don't really care for MODOK as a character, but I must have this piece!

Note to self: must get two so I can repaint the other as MODAM!

thaaaaats pretty sweet. and hilarious! his damage output and sustainability are almost MORE than what i would expect out of a 160 piece. though, i think four damage is a little much, can modok punch that hard? or perhaps he just body slams you 0.o and a fun looking fig!

So if Modok and three researchers are in his Pulsewave Blast area:
1) Can he get the enhancement benefit from the researchers since they will be ignored by the Pulsewave?
2) Would a single opponent caught in the same blast take the full printed damage value plus the enhancement, or would the researchers turn the damage down to a base of one?

Wouldn't work, as PW uses a locked base damage. However, since the power states that the keyword figs are ignored for the attack, they would keep their powers (say Perplex or PC within the blast zone).
Honestly, I'm a bit disapointed with this MODOK. I mean he's good and all, but I was hoping for a fig like Metron. Leadership Outwit, Peplex and PC all together. Oh, well.

Question is will damage value become locked by friendly scientist.
Pulsewave
"If lines of fire can be drawn to two or more characters, this
character’s damage value becomes 1 and is locked."
Wow, MODOK seems to be a steal for 160 points. I may give up my favored spot for Batman Beyond for this fella. That pulse wave trick is going to cause a lot of problems.

I couldn't help but notice that they actually used a slightly different sculpt for the LE of Dirk Anger. If you look, the zombie version has a noose around his neck.
Being the Nextwave fan that I am, and seeing that the MODOK face looks completely removable, I'm hoping for an Elvis-Faced MODOK LE (Although a common would be better!) with the HATE keyword...but this probably won't happen.
better dial...
but i prefer mutant mayhem's sculpt.. though its smaller..

Sweet!! I love M.O.D.O.K. in all his crazy goodness (badness?). I had much fun fielding the MM version, but this one looks like it's going to be loads of fun.

Shweet! MODOK is just one of those classic weirdo comic character that reminds you how fun comics are in the first place...this is the first preview for the Cap set I'm actually excited to see! I'd love to snag this piece someday...
Norb (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/member.php?u=23945) should be happy to see this.

I cannot find anything wrong with any aspect of this figure. I can only hope that we get a LE MODAM for him to pal around with.

That would be the greatest thing ever. It would literally be so good it would seriously ruin Heroclix. They'd never be able to do another thing so good.

Well I don't care for the character or this piece. This is just 160 point I have no interest in playing. I will admit it is a cool sculpt though. Will gladly trade him for squirrel-girl if I need to.

Oh man, best preview ever. Hilarious.
Hats off to you turdburglar, this is your second coming of Bi-Beast. I look forward to getting my butt kicked by him.
You should put Nova Blast and auto regen on him, just to punk us with a massive mental bomb pusle wave, and then heal up next turn.
Good stuff for a giant head, he arch enemies with Egg-Fu just on principal.

Man, and I thought I loved the last MODOK. He's an utter and total beast, with no problems going toe to toe with Iron Man, Thor, or Captain America a la the comics.
The last incarnation was very fragile and the designers seemed eager to be very literal with his power applications in ways that made it problematic for MODOK to be a centerpiece (late dial grounded with a 4 move, or starting with ES/D are accurate, but not confidence inducing).
Also, Intelligencia kw gives me hope for more! Come on Mad Thinker/Red Ghost!
Seems like we need an Egghead too! Despite his total lameness, I found myself getting a little upset when he bought it in "Modok's 11." This dial does almost seem overpowered considering how often Modok (or anyone with a giant head) is taken down in the comics.

I always thought Professor Ivo made a good sub for Egghead, despite the INV.

Remember, Dr. Doom was a part of the Intelligencia.
A man can dream.
He does not have the Robot Keyword! Sadness. His previous fig did.

Good to hear. This means that not only do they not give in to the masses and give us what we scream for but that despite that, they are in tune with the players and fans and want to provide adequate quality previews.
As for the fig, very strong dial, not entirely sure its accurate but maybe I dont know know enough about him to judge but are we not throwing the 18 defence around a bit too easy? And impervious? I mean superman...onslaught and apocalypse are impervious to harm.
But MODOK?...isnt he just armored? (and lightly at that?) Anyway...its just an observation. As far as im concerned everyones fave should be a powerhouse so they enjoy using them (thanks for the UBER deadpools btw) Good preview though and this should keep people happy till the next big gun that gets revealed.
One point I would say if wizkids is listening (coming from a player who has been on here and playing since the first set) In my experience, the choice for previews is critical. It shows how high a bar you are setting for this set and who will be the 'ambassadors' of the set, setting the tone and attitude. Magneto as a preview was amazing. It created hype and instantly said...we are taking this set very seriously, have given it serious thought and these figs will be designed very well. He was the ambassador for the set and is still THE piece to own.
From a sales standpoint Wizkids is less inclined to want to promote demand, as it is currently operating a low run, high demand, zero surplus inventory business model with faster turnovers. I still think though that it should use its previews to set the tone properly for the set.
All good though and love the way the game is headed so far :)

So like, do the arms and legs come directly out of his head? I've never understood whether it was his head just grew bigger, or enveloped his body.

They could've allowed him to carry and given him Indomitable. I actually wouldn't have minded seeing Indomitable, but he's still a nice figure.

Does that mean we might have an LE of him MODOK (the Mental Organism Designed Only for Kisses)? I'm sorry... No, I'm not. :p
Yes, I'm definitely wanting some more Intelligencia figs.

So I just went to Facebook and saw the picture of Heroclix online at the E3 booth, holy crap is MODOK big. I sure hope they have him hollowed out or something if not it's going to be EASY to cherry pick this guy.

Oh yeah, this will be the clix I am chasing this set! For those thinking he will be abused he won't be. He can't carry and the rule of three prevents insane abuse from scientist minions. Now some could argue he should not have impervious, but being one of the smartest minds in the marvel universe maybe he built better than the average armor. However the most important fact is his special pulse power can not be altered, you hear me cheese masters, his pulse wave CAN NOT be altered. His powers and stats are highly comic accurate. He really should not have mastermind as he himself is the focus of attacks.
The only thing he is missing is a few clixs of mind control. The big question is who else for intelligentsia will be introduced, or will leader and mad thinker be left with just their scientist keyword.

finally my fav character available in modern age. I hate the scientist abuse however that has started with professor x. I've always favorited scientists over others. I would actually love to see him stripped of the scientist keyword just so people would build more creative teams.
And I don't see why people are complaining about his impervious. Is it accurate? Hell no. but for 160 points he better have at least an 18 def and impervious on his dial.

MODOK + Professor X is hardly "abuse", given that you're spending almost 300 points on a team that can pretty much be shut down by a 47 point Batman piece.

and the odds of someone actually playing that piece when they don't know the team they are playing against???
