Where's Bob? :disappointed: LE hopefully?

Anyway, these are pretty awesome.

I like the Hydra trait. one dies and another takes its place. interesting thought.

UndeadEnigma
06/10/2011, 12:25
Actually this is promising. We could get Hydra Bob, or The Rose as an LE...

Not sure how I would continually utilize the Agent, as I'm not prone to hurting my own Hydra figs (the old ones are kind of fragile), but the trait does fit. Might try some of those tactics for the cost though.

I'm more excited about Richard Fisk. Cheap outwit and perplex is always nice, mastermind hanging out with Hydra isn't a bad power either...

Bring along someone with Support to heal up your choice of Hydra Leader and you've got a soldier cranking engine.

Yeah, I would be genuinely shocked (and disappointed!) if this doesn't happen.

I have to say that I'm honestly surprised they didn't make Bob the now-obligatory "named generic", actually. Richard Fish seems like an odd choice, because I always think of him much more as The Rose... and as a Daredevil character who doesn't have much to do with Cap at all.

I was really rather hoping that a if we saw Richard Fisk in Clix form, it would be as The Rose. Ah, well *shrug*. I like the themeliness of the "Cut Off One Limb" trait and Fisk looks like he has a slightly more pushable dial than other likely candidates (might be able to get away with it once or twice with Crossbones or Baron Von Strucker... maybe there will be other good 40+ point Hydra folks in the set).

As for Bob, he seems like a contender (though I wouldn't mind if he were a common, uncommon, or a rare along the lines of Parademon Grunt/Parademon Drill Sergeant/The Parademon). With Squirrel Girl in a Super Rare slot and "Successful" Dirk Anger as one of the Super Rares, it'd seem odd to have two "jokey" characters in LE spots. Not bad or unwelcome, just odd.

Not sure what to think of these dials. Some interesting aspects and sync between the two. Potential to keep a HYDRA tentpole in its prime with an unending stream of minions...at a cost of 25 pts to the opponent per. There is potential, but I am not convinced yet that HYDRA is ready to bring it against SHIELD.

06/10/2011, 12:58
Meh. They seem fairly accurate to the characters I guess, but I was hoping for something more. Maybe a Minion ability that makes them better without damaging your big guns? Other than endless Mastermind fodder, I don't see much use for regenerating the HYDRA Agents, really.

Thinking more on it, I dig what this represents: a shift in focus from powergaming to more intricate strategy.

I look forward to someone building a viable team around these guys and wrecking shop.

Wanting a Bob LE as well. I would like to see more A.I.M. Mainly for the scientist keyword and the full dental.

06/10/2011, 13:14
The ability to keep having Hydra agents appear is nice, but you're opponent still gets the points for each one that they KO. I just have a feeling that if I used that Trait, that extra 25pts would be the difference in winning/losing the game.

Is anyone else concerned about the number of repaints we have seen so far???

In a word, no. :cheeky:

Every set, every single one since WoS, we get previews of the generic/minion-types and their Uncommon "named figure" on Fridays.

It was this way for GSX. It was this way for DC75. And it is this way for Cap.

Seriously, go back and look. I'll wait. :classic: :p

Was really hoping for a Rose in some future set. I know he's not a hugely important character in the Marvel world, but I think he's definitely enigmatic and unique enough to deserve a little more than a repaint... :(

This set is losing me fast. So far the only ones I want are SR's and R's. Way too many generics and repaints for me. Here's hoping that we start to get something a bit more interesting before this whole thing goes Brave and The Bold on us.

michiganj24

Yes I too wanted a Rose (or heck even a Bloodrose) I figured if we got a named Hydra it would be Arnold Brown

Oh and since they said there were 4 Repaints
Maria from SHIELD
Super Adaptoid from Adaptoid
Fisk from Hydra
My guess the last one is a named Howling Commando

Theses Hydra Agents, a Viper with Trickshot & a Hydra Medic would have been sick back in the day! An endless supply of MM fodder who have Stealth & add to my AV? Yes please! :-)

With only a few weeks of previews, at once or twice a week, I think attitudes like this are a bit premature.

Then again, to each their own. ;)

"Successful" Dirk Anger is an LE, not a Super Rare. I'm guessing that is probably what you intended to say, right? Two, three or four "joke" characters as LE pieces are just fine if they make sense to produce and fit the theme of the set. In this case, a Hydra Bob LE fits so well that I'd be surprised it that is not what we get.

I'll be interested to see if the pace of previews picks up. We're just over a month away until the release of the full Captain America release and we're less than 2 weeks away until the Gravity Feed is released. We've gotten a few from the set, but still nothing from the Gravity Feed. There's a lot of product to show off in not a lot of time. We'll be kept busy in the coming weeks I believe.

would that mean in tournament play you can continually get points providing you keep killing the hydra agents?.... so points for a 300 pt game can go well beyond 300 points?

Yes. But the last man standing is the winner, unless time runs out and both players have figures on the board.

Yep, it would be awesome (actually broken) if either a) they weren't so easy to kill, or b) they didn't give victory points after they spawned.

UltraDRGN
06/10/2011, 16:59
It's still a pretty big strategic boon to be able to get 4 clicks for every 1 click taken. That's even better than invulnerability in terms of the ability to shrug off damage. Only Blob can offer mastermind fodder so efficient a return.

It's going to be a balancing act to figure out if you're better off getting an ever spawning supply of minions or cutting your opponent off from easy victory points. I approve.

Carbon Rod

Ah Richard Fisk ... a Rose by any other name ... would grant you mastermind ... :)

06/10/2011, 17:48
Really think this set will be quite good thus far but I am getting a little concered with all the repaints.

Now that there arent survivor points, the rebirthing of the army figures could be devastating again the wrong force and youd be better off conceding instead of bringing them back, especially if you have the lead.

I like the figures, but I'm a bit disappointed in Richard Fisk sculpt. for most of his career, he was attacking his father as Rose,... so they made his sculpt as a Hydra agent?

the only good news is with the CAGF coming out I am going to assume that Bob will be in it, and or other generic Hydra Agents. :)

I can't find the thread, but they did preview a couple of GF figures from the demo they did somewhere in I think Texas.

isn't it a little too much abusable (for 25 pts) with HYDRA characters who have mastermind ?

I actually sort of assumed that was the point. HYDRA goons are pretty much only ever good for soaking up punches in the comics, lol.

It's a good thing there aren't any HYDRA figures with regeneration, or else we might be looking at a potentially unlimited army of HYDRA soldiers here.

Still going to be something to look out for in golden age if people decide to pull any of the HYDRA medic types out of storage.

Not real impressed with either of these. the trait on the 25 pointer sounds good on paper but I just see any worth while HSS tent pole taking out everything else first then destroying the 25 pointer last or heavily weakening the rest of the team to the point of uselessness then killing the 25 pointer to see if you keep using the trait so he can rack up points while he finishes off the rest of the team with the tent pole's supporting cast. The named figure I don't really care for either but I think that's mainly because I've never really liked mastermind so a minion that gives it to a higher point figure doesn't really appeal to me

If Bob is not the LE, I am honestly going to cry. Would love him to share all the keywords with WoS Deadpool so they can always team together.

I already have fun roleplaying Deadpool(and only him) at our venue. But I am sure I could have a ton of fun with Bob running along next to him.

My guess the last one is a named Howling Commando

you could be right but we might get

Frank Tarleton same sculpt as A.I.M. Technician (I'm hoping these are in the set.)
Black Widow (Yelena Belova) repaint of Black Widow (Natasha Romanova)
Jasper Sitwell same sculpt as S.H.I.E.L.D. Technician

these might also be LE's

you can't have M.O.D.O.K. without Frank being in the set somewhere

if it is Howling Commandos we could get 2 name ones (Clay Quartermain or Gabe Jones, 1 can be in the set & the other could be an LE

You mean compared to Infinity Challenge, Hypertime, Clobberin Time, Cosmic Justice, Xplosion, Indy, Critical Mass, Unleashed, Ultimates, Legacy, Mutant Mayhem, Fantastic Forces, Icons, Armor Wars, Collateral Damage, Sinister, Supernova, and Origin?
And to those complaining about this, be lucky that the LEs are repaints. They used to be the same sculpt and paint job as the regular figure.

One musing: I'd have preferred a Hydra Elite Soldier or somesuch to Richard Fisk. Something like the HAMMER Elite that'd add another tier of Minion craziness.
