So how come this web site doesn't have a good FAQ on it? I mean, an actual FAQ covering the Frequently Asked Questions particular to this site, so new players could read it, and know what topics are covered a lot, and we could avoid a great deal of redundant discussion?
Like for instance, a FAQ for HCRealms that contained questions and answers like:
-Do people use duplicates?
-What are heroclix points good for?
-What is the deal with Firelord?
-Do people mix universes?
-What does acronym "X" mean?
Stuff like that. We could come up with objective answers to the really common questions on this BBS, just like on all of the other discussion forums in the world.
For instance, for the Firelord question could be something like:
Q: What is the deal with Firelord?
A: Well, Firelord is quite a common topic of discussion in this forum. Many claim he is perfectly reasonable, some claim he is wildly overpowered, some even claim he is kind of weak. There is no common consensus, however, but he continues to be quite contriversial. Searching the message board archives (try "Firelord") will generate countless messages discussing the pros and cons of Firelord.
Maybe including links to good posts on the subject by various people could be good.
Stuff like that. Answering the really common questions in a FAQ (which is, really, what FAQs are for) could save a lot of new folks the agita that comes from asking the same questions over and over again, and save the older folks the agita of running into the same questions over and over again.
The only trick is getting folks to actually read the FAQ...
