Out of the ashes of The Thanos Imperative (and unfortunately the cancellations of Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy) came a book that's basically Marvel's last ditch effort to keep cosmic titles alive. Before his death, Star-Lord tasked former Guardians member Cosmo the space-dog with putting together a group of individuals that had the firepower the Guardians (and I guess the Nova Corps, The Inhumans and the Imperial Guard) lacked.

Now this is going to be a really easy build this time around. Two of the members only have single figures made of them, and two others were in the same boat but only recently got badly needed remakes. Here they are:

ui116 U Quasar
Team: Avengers
Range: 10 :bolt::bolt:
Points: 122
Keywords: Avengers, Cosmic, S.H.I.E.L.D.

mm091 U Gladiator
Team: No Affiliation
Range: 10 :bolt:
Points: 205
Keywords: Martial Artist, Shi'ar, Soldier, Warrior

ha023 V Beta Ray Bill
Team: No Affiliation
Range: 8 :bolt:
Points: 159
Keywords: Asgardian, Cosmic, Robot, Omega Flight, Warrior

ha031 E Ronan the Accuser
Team: No Affiliation
Range: 8 :bolt::bolt:
Points: 130
Keywords: Armor, Kree, Warrior, Ruler, Soldier

(Damage) Ruler of the Empire: All adjacent friendly characters with the Kree keyword modify their attack values by +1.

It kinda goes without saying, but you're not going to be using Ronan's Special Power. Sorry.

Moving on, we're now at the toughest part of this build: Choosing which Silver Surfer to use. There's plenty of versions out there of varying point values and varying qualities. Personally, I'm going with the LE Sentinel of the Skyways.

av105 E Sentinel of the Skyways
Team: Defenders
Range: 8 :bolt:
Points: 120
Keywords: Defenders, Herald
m-winga-fistd-shieldg-starburst1010183101018310101738917389163891638817278182KOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKO

For only 120 points, he's a great piece. Not great enough that the 800 point team could win a single game when I played them in a tournament last week, but he's still a great piece. Seriously, The Annihilators stunk up the joint when I ran them.

Of course, there is the problem that not many folks have The Sentinel of the Skyways. As a judge prize, he's a lot rarer than the other versions. So we'll just bite the bullet and use a more common version like the one that was just given away at the Coming of Galactus tournaments.

av100 U Silver Surfer
Team: Power Cosmic
Range: 10 :bolt::bolt:
Points: 231
Keywords: Defenders, Herald
m-winga-fistd-shieldg-starburst111117411101641010163101017391016399163891628915278142KOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKO
(Speed) Cosmic Speed: Silver Surfer can use Hypersonic Speed, but only option 1 and can make only ranged combat attacks using the power.

With the CoG Silver Surfer, our team comes out to 847 points. Fifty points for feats. Simple enough! Trick Shot, Fortitude and Protected on Gladiator. It's a lot to pile on, but he's worth it.

Of course, it wouldn't be Heroclix if there wasn't a missing member to acknowledge; Ikon the Spaceknight. She hasn't been made yet, but that's actually okay. If Marvel isn't going to put her on the cover until issue four, it's safe to say she doesn't rate high enough to make the build.

So enjoy your five figure 900 point team of Annihilators. They're high-power pieces, but you're definitely going to be out-actioned. Heck, even The six figure Illuminati will out action this team. So don't get too cocky with this lineup.

BUT WAIT! Don't click on "back" or "reply" yet (though feel free to click the hell out of "rep"). We're not done yet! The Annihilators comic also features a back-up story about former Guardians of the Galaxy members Rocket Raccoon and Groot.

ha028 V Rocket Raccoon
Team: Defenders
Range: 8 :bolt:
Points: 65
Keywords: Animal, Guardians of the Galaxy, Soldier
m-boota-fistd-shieldg-starburst8917289162881527814267142KOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKO

ws049 V Groot
Team: Defenders
Range: 0 :bolt:
Points: 152
Keywords: Guardians of the Galaxy, Monster, Ruler
m-boota-fistd-shieldg-giant6101846101836101736101745917459174.13196.131964914249142KOKOKOKOKOKOKOKO
(Attack) Plant Growth: Once during your turn, as a free action you may heal Groot 1 damage if he occupies hindering or water terrain.
(Damage) Floral Colossus Sprout: Non-optional. Groot has the Colossal damage symbol, a range of 4, and can't be moved.

Together, these two buddies come out to 217 points. Way low for a 300 point team. Even if you throw on the GotG ATA, 30 points of feats and even some objects, you're still going to be insanely under. So just play 'em at 217 points in a 200 point game between you and your friends. That extra 17 points won't be that big of a difference.

Next time, it's two (or more) comic accurate builds in one article!

when i played the Annihilators, I used R surfer from SN...As much as I love sentinel of the skyways, I didn't think he'd be best n this group and it was supposed to play in a backwards dial tourney...his 11attack, 4 damage seemed like it might be nice to start with ;)

nice article :)

Its funny I made almost the same team out of these a couple of weeks ago, but I never got to play it

Cool team.

For such a group of big hitters it's a shame they're not more competitive. We really need a new Quasar especially (should be a shoe-in for the Infinity Guantlet set).

Any ideas for substitute dials for Cosmo and that Space Knight chick?

DC 75 Guy Gardner or Elsa Bloodstone could work for Ikon, depending on how you want to look at her. A skirmishy outwitter could work too, I went with Exploit Weakness.

Cosmo: Carol Ferris for her range of psychic-y powers.

Elsa is a good suggestion, and low points so helps to keep the points down on an otherwise intense team.

Nice article. I have always been a fan of the cosmic heroes....obviously Silver Surfer, particularly Gladiator. Ever since I started playing, it has bugged the heck out of me that for 205 points, Gladiator really sucks. I mean, the stuff this guy has done in the comics is amazing. He makes Superman look like a baby nose-picker. "He picked up the Baxter Building, so let's give him super strength." The guy is so much more than that.

Sorry for the Gladiator rant....I do like the article, but I really think we should've gotten a new one with the GSX set. And I am clicking the hell out of that rep button now sir :)

An alternative might be to use the proto-Anihilators team-up that appeared in The Thanos Imperative. Then you could ignore the missing Ikon and use Nova instead. Of course that would work better if we got the Nova remake that many of us are clamouring for...

Rocket, Groot, Bug, Mantis and Star-Lord is Comic Accurate as the Phalanx-Ultron resistance group. You could do that at 400, no?

Only if you use the rookie Mantis, otherwise, you're over.

And here we have the most powerful heroes in the Universe...The Annihilators. Maybe we need some remakes?

Did they cancel the GoftheGalaxy because it wasnt selling? I love these space stories of peeps we dont know off. Those two writers are pretty good.

You can run with the Annihilators and Groot and Rocket with some feats at 1100, right? Adds a slightly different twist on "comic accurate "......
