"The so-called, 'Bar With No Name'. You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." Mysterio announced to his compatriots, having lead them to the most well-known secret in New York's underworld. The nondescript and even unnamed bar was the longest running meeting place for supervillains and blue-collar criminals alike, tolerated by law enforcement thanks to well placed bribes and other police corruption. The superhero community knew of it as well, but generally permitted its existence to keep the colorful criminals where they could keep an eye on them and occasionally pump them for information. Secrets and rumors were traded here just as much as money and drink, but that's not why the Sinister Six had paid a visit. Having returned to New York for the first time since Dr. Doom's attack, Octavius had decided the city needed to be reminded of their presence.
"What's the point of this exactly?" Electro asked, "We're just going to pick a fight with whatever random lowlifes are having a drink? I don't get it."
"The lion roars to announce its territory to the rival males. The lesser cats keep clear at the sound of his thunderous voice, or the scent of the jungle king's urine marking the trees. " Kraven explained by way of analogy, though his metaphor got a little confused.
"We're gonna... pee on the bar...?" Electro winced with even deeper confusion.
"We're going to show off and send a message to the criminal fraternity of New York." Vulture explained to him with much more clarity. "We pick a fight and make an example of somebody, it lets everyone know not to mess with us. When we get the chance we'll take out some of the bosses of the money-making rackets in the city, and take the operations over for ourselves. Then we'll have a steady flow of money and cheap muscle to help us achieve our other goals."
"Oh. That makes a lot more sense." Electro nodded along, getting himself psyched up. Nearly bouncing in his steps now, Electro headed for the plain steel door marking the bar's side entrance. "LET'S DO THIS!"
"Settle down, and let me do the talking." Doctor Octopus said sternly, pushing Electro back with one robotic arm and easily tearing the door off its hinges with a second. He lead his team inside and around a narrow corridor and into the bar proper, where the early evening crowd had filled the tables to half capacity. Rough looking men of every stripe paused their conversations and put down their drinks to take a look at the brightly costumed criminals. More than one glanced at the exit or reached for the handle of a weapon, but no one made a move. A tense silence fell over the bar, broken only by the droning television announcing a Brazilian soccer match and a few nervous coughs.
"Gentlemen!" Doctor Octopus boomed in the deepest stage voice he could muster. "You see before you the new rulers of New York's criminal underworld! We are... The Sinister Six!"
"Yeah we know." replied the bartender, unimpressed and rather annoyed. "You told us last week when you came in and smashed the front window."
"What?" Otto said flatly, following the bartender's gesture to the taped-up front window that once looked out onto the street. He slowly turned back to the grey-bearded bartender. "You... are mistaken."
"Six cape and Halloween mask types, come into the bar and tell everybody that New York is gonna belong to the Sinister Syndicate, then toss a few Maggia boys through my window. I don't think I'd forget a thing like that. Now are you gonna pay for the new plate of glass or what?"
"Hey, we didn't break yer damn window!" Sandman protested in defense of himself and his team, shoving a thick finger into the bartender's face. "And we ain't the Sinister Syndicate. We're the Sinister Six! There's a difference!"
"This isn't exactly going as planned." Mysterio said quietly to Octopus. "Who is this Syndicate? Someone's riding our coattails while we were stuck in the future?"
"We haven't got a reputation to steal, yet." Octopus reasoned. "They sound like a similar group, only a couple weeks ahead of us on our timetable. I wonder who organized them, and what their goals are? This bears looking into."
"Who are these syndicate guys?! Where are they?" Electro demanded loudly to everyone in the room, throwing random arcs of electricity off his body that jumped to nearby tables and chairs and leaving little scorch marks on the wood. "The Six are gonna be the new kings of New York, not some lame knockoffs!"
The various patrons of the bar shied away from Electro's dangerous ranting, and the young super-villain noticed. He grinned excitedly, enjoying the respect he was being given, even if it was born out of fear. "That's right, you heard me!" He shouted, stalking across the barroom floor casting dangerous looks at the ruffians cowering at their tables. "So, who's gonna talk? Who's gonna spill the beans, before me and my friends here have ta start getting ROUGH?"
"How about YOU?" Electro kicked over a table and grabbed a denim-clad biker by the collar of his black leather jacket. The man was easily twice as old and twice as large as Electro and could have swatted him away with ease, if he weren't afraid of being electrocuted. "You know anything about the Syndicate, sideburns? How about YOU, shades?" Electro turned his interrogation to his next victim, plucking a pair of sunglasses off the man's face and slipping them over his own eyes. In the midst of his showboating, everyone failed to see an oddly limping green-cloaked man slip out of the crowd and away from the bar.
"Perhaps we should reign him in..." Otto said with some concern, waiting for the moment Electro pushed the wrong button on the wrong barfly and got punched in the mouth. The young man was enjoying himself a little too much, though Octopus could guess why. Like Electro, Otto had grown up physically unimpressive and the temptation to bully the bullies was entirely understandable. Otto's age and scientific detachment kept him from lashing out as well, but Max didn't have the benefit of either.
"Oh I think he's doing fine. Enjoy the show while it lasts." Vulture countered, a smile playing at his thin lips. For several minutes more Electro swaggered around with his electrical charge buzzing across the surface of his skin, scaring the bar patrons witless. Vulture just took a stool and chuckled, "Barkeep, pour me an stout ale, would you?"
"Whatsamatter? Are you all CHICKEN?!" Electro laughed, then spun and fired a bolt of lightning at a random patron's mug, shattering it and showering the man with beer and broken glass. Electro brought his smoking fingertip to his mouth and blew at it like a still-hot revolver. "You like that? Well there's more where that came from! Ha! And you're gonna keep getting it until somebody gets the message!"
"Oh, someone got your message all right," came a new voice from the swinging front doors of the bar. Newly entered was a group of men almost as strange looking as the Six themselves. At the forefront was a diminutive man in a finely tailored suit, the one who had spoken. Beside him were an urban cowboy and a huge brute of a man easily as tall and thick as Rhino. "Word travels fast in this town, especially when you boast as loudly as you have. But we've got a message for you from the REAL king of New York. He's got this city running like a well oiled machine, and he doesn't need a bunch of noisy lunatics causing problems for him."
"And who the hell are-" began Electro, before being pushed aside by Doctor Octopus.
"And who the hell are you?" repeated Octopus himself, his tentacles coiling aggressively towards the newcomers. Behind the first three more had followed them into the bar, just as out of place as the first three. Otto had no idea how many more might be just outside, but these goons clearly worked for someone. Unlike Electro's posturing, trouncing these fools would actually accomplish something.
"We're the Enforcers." explained the well-spoken little man in front. "I'm Fancy Dan, and these are my associates Ox and Montana. We're the crew the Kingpin sends in to settle with anyone who gets too much ambition around here."
"Then I think you're the ones I've been looking for." Doctor Octopus grinned, "Because ambition is one thing I have in spades."

BC: Bar Fight! (Custom BC) When making a successful close combat attack, check to see how much the attack value plus attack roll exceeds the targets defense value if at all. After damage is dealt you can move the target directly away from the attacker as many spaces up to that number, in a direction of the attackers choosing. If that would result in knockback damage apply it as usual.
Special Rules:
- 'The Regulars' do not require a player. Instead, either player can give them actions automatically after the second player's turn. The Bartender will not move unless a character comes within the rectangle in between H8 and P17. He will go for the character that moves inside that first and try to throw them out of that area. Then he will proceed to any others that enter that area. The Barflys do not move unless attacked, but if a character becomes adjacent to them they will attack them (they don't want their drinking disturbed) and try to throw them away from the bar. If a character attacks any of the regulars (range or close), then that regular will go directly for that character (no longer throwing them) and attack them until one is KOed.
- The blocking terrain (not the walls) is considered to be tables. They are hindering for movement and LOF, but still cause knockback damage as if they are blocking.
- Each player can choose to place one each of these special objects if they wish:
Office Desk - Light, Continual, 3D Object (indoor adventure pack)
May be used as a normal light object, or may increase the carrying character's defense value by 2. When either option is used, the object is destroyed when an attack roll is made.
Soda Machine - Heavy, Continual, 3D Object (indoor adventure kit)
Increase the attacker's damage dealt by 1.

I hope that custom BC makes sense, I always have trouble figuring out how best to word things.
Also, I couldn't figure out some good unclixed C-list villains to be the Barflys, but if you can feel free to suggest them

Hammer moved in next to Ocotpus and Kraven while his compadre Ox tossed the desk through the air crashing to pieces around the hunters shoulders.

and yeah, the movement is based on the target's starting square, or at least as far as I could tell. I think that would put him in I14 though, if Sandman was moved on a diagonal line.

just wanted to let you know that with the new rules set, neither mc nor incap cause the attacker damage on a crit miss. it used to just be that mc didnt and incap did, but now neither one of em do. ;)

just wanted to let you know that with the new rules set, neither mc nor incap cause the attacker damage on a crit miss. it used to just be that mc didnt and incap did, but now neither one of em do. ;)
dbauers is correct. Attacks that 'deal no damage' do not deal damage for Crit Misses. They also don't add damage for Crit Hits. The wording for EE was tweaked in the last update so it works like that as well.

Actually Montana had 2 clicks left so a push wouldn't KO him. Also he could only attack Sandman... It doesn't change anything because your attacks both missed anyway, but I assumed it was just a typo the first time and now I'm thinking you might actually be confused about where the character is.

BC: Bar Fight! (Custom BC) When making a successful close combat attack, check to see how much the attack value plus attack roll exceeds the targets defense value if at all. After damage is dealt you can move the target directly away from the attacker as many spaces up to that number, in a direction of the attackers choosing. If that would result in knockback damage apply it as usual.
According to this I get to throw him anywhere up to the number that excedes his DV right?

Didn't finish as strong as I started the game, but I still did pretty well overall. The bar-brawl mechanic mostly worked against me it seems. I'm pretty sure there's no actions you can take against me in your final turn. I'm kinda glad that Owl survived without a scratch though, for story reasons.

Yeah, the funny thing about the BC was that you throwing my guys over to the barflys and bartender only seemed to take away exp from your team detering that as a strategy for you. But for me it seemed to be the only way for me to damage you after getting torn apart! I can't wait to see the epilogue for this and get notes for my epilogue. I thought we may be both going after kingpin in the final issue instead of head to head, but I guess we'll see. Great game.

Didn't finish as strong as I started the game, but I still did pretty well overall. The bar-brawl mechanic mostly worked against me it seems. I'm pretty sure there's no actions you can take against me in your final turn. I'm kinda glad that Owl survived without a scratch though, for story reasons.
Yeah, the funny thing about the BC was that you throwing my guys over to the barflys and bartender only seemed to take away exp from your team detering that as a strategy for you. But for me it seemed to be the only way for me to damage you after getting torn apart! I can't wait to see the epilogue for this and get notes for my epilogue. I thought we may be both going after kingpin in the final issue instead of head to head, but I guess we'll see. Great game.
I kinda figured it would help out the Enforcers moreso, which is why I left them slightly underbuilt instead of slapping a feat on (I was considering entangle on Ragdoll, but that is kinda nuts). Do you think that custom BC worked well? Did it make it feel more like a bar fight?

I thought it really worked well. I pictured Plasmus as a V version of Tarantula but I wasn't sure who the other guy would be.

"You idiots have bitten off more than you can chew." Warned the mysterious man in green. He backed towards the exit, his bizarre mechanical goggles keeping all six members of Octopus' crew in his sights. "The Enforcers are who the Kingpin sends to deal with nuisances. Now you'll see how he responds to actual threats! Prepare yourselves... you've just signed your own death warrants."
Reaching the exit the Owl turned and launched into the air, somehow defying gravity and soaring into the darkness of the night. His warnings rang ominously in their ears and the bar feel eerily silent for a long moment. Though the Enforcers had fallen without much difficulty, the Owl had stood by and watched throughout the entire fight, just watching and appraising. Almost as if tonight had just been a test to gauge how much attention the Kingpin would need to bring on them.
Then Mysterio slammed down a set of glasses on the bar. "We can worry about our impending demise later. For tonight, I'd say you gentlemen just earned yourselves a drink!"
"Awww yeah!" cheered Electro, stepping up to the bar and grabbing a beer with Sandman. "Hey, waitasecond..."
"Huh?" grunted Sandman around his drink. Electro put down his mug and tilted his head, listening or smelling something that the others could not. He walked deliberately behind the bar almost in a trance. Suddenly he froze, turned, and knelt down to point out a silent alarm the bartender had tripped.
"I guess we'll have to celebrate later..." Vulture sighed.
"No. You boys enjoy yourselves a drink." Octopus said, his face serious. "We wanted to send a message, not just to the Kingpin but to the whole city. We've still got our allies hidden outside... we'll send whatever cops show up back to their station with a story to tell. The Sinister Six are in New York, and we're not going away!"
