Very Impressive Wonder Woman figure. A good sign of things to come. This raises the question; do they plan to try and out sculpt the previous set with each new one? hahaha.

I found this Pic earlier, and put it on one of my Co-workers computer as his desktop pattern. When he returned from his meeting. He saw it and flipped out. He couldn't focus for the rest of the day. He Can't wait for Cosmic Justice to come out. Me neither come to think about it.

My roommate is currently at GAMA in Las Vegas (Gama is the Gaming Trade Show) and he called me yesterday bragging about how good the Wonder Woman sculpt looked - I was glad to hear her being physically confirmed, but pretty envious that he had seen her and I hadn't. Now I know what he was talking about - Great Job WizKids!

Can someone...anyone commment on the June date on the picture?

algrim
03/18/2003, 23:31
June is the date I've been hearing for this... I believe in an earlier thread they talked about a June Release date... which makes sense... give it a month or so before Indy Clix...

Darth Sabre
03/18/2003, 23:34
Sure. June is the month that retailers are being told, the set is going to be released. I'm surprised that that is the only one that has been leaked....as that ad has more than one fig on it....muahahahahahahahahaha!

metzgarob
03/18/2003, 23:34
ya junes what ive been hearing for... ever

then august for indy and who knows from there

hemlock
03/18/2003, 23:34
It doesn't really matter when in June it is coming out, but that it is. It is at most 3 months. I figure they would release again closer to the end of the month, so they have the max amount of time to get everything perfect. Yaaay another DC were I will only want like 4-6 figure. I personally am not a DC fan, but some of them are cool. She will be one that I will have to hunt down to get.

Now will everyone that doubted me on the release dates, and the CT list, and the X-ploslostion list, and the (now confirmed) Cosmic Justice list..... please shove your foot so far down your throat that you will never back-talk me again?

Nice piece of work.

Makes perfect sense, too. What with all the superhero movies coming out this summer, and all the conventions, WizKids is just lookin' to have plenty of product on the stands. They're going to clean up like crazy, too, at this rate...

Breathtaking...
I am so very glad that Wonder Woman got the beautiful sculpt she deserves. Now so long as her point cost isn't TOO high to make her unplayable, I will be extremely happy. Ah who am I kidding, I'll probably field her solo if I have to just to get some playtime in with my favorite DC superheroine. Any speculation on her powers? Super Strength for sure. Charge? Energy Deflection? Toughness? Close Combat Expert most likely as well.
Ahh I can already see she's going to be in the 120-150 point range!

Hmm someone mentioned they had a friend who saw this figure live? I wish I could have been there! And if the only list I've seen so far is even remotely correct, I will be extremely happy! Then again, ANY DC figure would make me extremely happy. =)

Um ... perhaps you were unaware but the same group of sculpters has done each set. Also, I'd be willing to bet my house that the Infinity Challenge set will absolutely lay waste to Hypertime. Lets list the people in DC that can hit an 18 defense ... thats right ... Hawk ... one guy. Puh-leeze ... bow down to Ultron / Firelord / Bullseye :)

Thats the very reason why DC *is* so much better than marvel, the game balance is so much better, lacking the broken figures of Bullseye, Ultron and old Fire head himself.

i agree with Jools all the way. there s nothing broken in DC...but speaking of DC vs Marvel, i played a DC-only vs Marvel-only. I had a Batman team:

v Medic
v Robin
e Booster Gold
e Batman
r Hawkman
r Checkmate Agent
u Catwoman

against:

v Doc Ock
v Dr. Strange
e Firelord
v AIM Medic
u Wasp

i moved up my catwoman and batman via the taxis, he then immediately attacked my catwoman with his dr strange, taxied by firelord. on my turn, whoo, i tried for a double-incapacitate with batman and rolled 6/6! 2 damage to firelord n dr strange, i then followed up with a clean up hit from catwoman, buh-bye dr strange and the pal said oh i ve got dinner to attend to, laters! lame-0 marvel-0!

Here are a few points to ponder about Wonderwoman...

1) Wonderwoman (sometimes) can fly. Then why does she have a jet? It only holds one person. Why go through the trouble of flying over to your hiding jet, jumping in, take off, find a place to hide it (even though no one can see it), and then jump out to go fight the bad guy?

2) The jet is invisible. How in the heck to you remember where you put it? It's not a "Only Wonderwoman can see it" jet. It's an "Invisible" jet, meaning no one can see it. How do you find the keys? No matter where you put it, someone is bound to run smack into it - it's the size of a jet!

3) We can still see you, Wonderwoman! Just because the jet is invisible, doesn't mean that you are when you get inside. What is the purpose of an Invisible Jet when people can still see you in it? "Lock missles onto the flying, crouched woman & fire."

4) Diana only changes clothes. That's it. At least Clark Kent takes off his glasses. Her hair stays the same. Make-up the same. Only her clothes change, and no one is the wiser. I guess everyone must be staring at what the clothes don’t cover up.

5) She is Greek. She worships the Greek Gods/Goddesses. Her powers come from them. But she fights for "One Nation Under God." And wears the American flag's colors. I think that someone forgot her heritage. She has a Magic Tiara, Magic Blaclets, a Magic Lasso, & an American Uniform.

6) There are no men where she comes from. Is this the land of Imaculate Conceptions? Was Mary (Jesus's mother) related to Diana's Mom? I dont' think their island isn't anywhere near Italy or Greece; I think it's in the Virgin Isles.

7) She has a magic lasso that makes men tell the truth. Not women, just men. What is the point of that? It sounds like some racial or sexist joke. "Wonderwoman is the herald of all womankind. She gets the power back from the big, bad, opressive men & puts mankind in there place."

8) Her arch enemy is a chick in a cheetah outfit. Think about it. A girl, dressed as a cheetah, called Cheeta, is Wonderwoman most feared nemesis. At least Black Manta looks kind of scary. But Cheetah looks like a run-way model. Do I really need to say more?

Don't get me wrong, I love WW. I just wanted to list a few points to ponder and see what everyone thinks about any of this. I know that someone will flame me - "According to issue 129, WW said "this" and "that," so Badges is wrong and he's a big doodie-head, too." I'm not sure about all of my facts & I don't know WW like the back of my hand. This is all observations to the casual reader, so don't flame me please.

Nice looking figure. I'm really looking forward to this set. I think it's a given that a GL will be in the set. Now just waiting for official word on M. Manhunter. Be my luck he'll be a unique. Looks like a case may be in order (or at least a half of case).

Thanks Manchine for being so kind. I wanted to be negative without being negative, therefore saying something that was positive. I said some negative things, but in a positive way while still being negative. In essence it was positive for me to be negative in a negatively positive way, positively. So I was - about being + and +--+-+--+, etc....

Ow. My brain is now borken.

You're talking about 2 different universes. The Wonder Woman many of us know and love can always fly and never had nor will ever need the services of some ridiculous invisible jet.

4) Diana only changes clothes. That's it. At least Clark Kent takes off his glasses. Her hair stays the same. Make-up the same. Only her clothes change, and no one is the wiser. I guess everyone must be staring at what the clothes don’t cover up.

Okay, I'm assuming you're referring to the golden age Wonder Woman here who fought the Nazis in WWII. You're telling me that ANY super hero's disguise was any good back then? And her hair did change. It was tied back in her secret identity. But yes, that's along the lines of putting on glasses.

She chose to fight for the Americans (again the WWII version) because she believed their cause was just and because she was in love with Steve Trevor. It's only fitting that the defender of the USA wears her colors. Are you telling me that nobody in the United States who has heritage in other nations is allowed to wear her colors and fight for her honor? I really hope you're not saying that. =P

6) There are no men where she comes from. Is this the land of Imaculate Conceptions? Was Mary (Jesus's mother) related to Diana's Mom? I dont' think their island isn't anywhere near Italy or Greece; I think it's in the Virgin Isles.

Close. It's Paradise Island within the Bermuda Triangle. (At least once again for the version we're discussing). Amazons are immortal. They don't need to conceive. That's not to say they've never had relations with men, which is entirely possible when they lived in Greece before they escaped and made their home on the island. In the modern version of Wonder Woman, she wasn't born but was shaped from clay and blessed by the gods.

7) She has a magic lasso that makes men tell the truth. Not women, just men. What is the point of that? It sounds like some racial or sexist joke. "Wonderwoman is the herald of all womankind. She gets the power back from the big, bad, opressive men & puts mankind in there place."

I've seen her use her lasso on women and have even seen the lasso used against her. But the whole point of her character upon conception was that women could have a place in society and even be superior to men. It was a political statement way back then.

Maybe that's her goal... to make you underestimate her.

All in all, I think you've seen bits and pieces of the Superfriends and maybe even the Live Action television series (which I've a small collection of... Lynda Carter made a nice Wonder Woman!) Today's Wonder Woman is a pretty interesting and dynamic character. She's nearly as powerful as Superman and has even held her own against Doomsday (well not really him, but a slightly weaker imitation). She's gone through quite a number of changes, and I'm sorry to say that I myself haven't kept up with it all. I've just been too caught up with Marvel over recent years and am now trying to catch up with DC again.

She did it all the time in Superfriends. I'm not sure if she has done it yet on the JLA cartoon. This was meant more as a joke about the retarded-ness of the show, than a pun at WW.

Okay, I'm assuming you're referring to the golden age Wonder Woman here who fought the Nazis in WWII. You're telling me that ANY super hero's disguise was any good back then? And her hair did change. It was tied back in her secret identity. But yes, that's along the lines of putting on glasses.

Pulling hair back doesn't work for me. It's one think to change hair color like some of the Supergirls and Batgirls did. Ponytails do not make you look that much different.

She chose to fight for the Americans (again the WWII version) because she believed their cause was just and because she was in love with Steve Trevor. I didn't mean this as a racial/sexist/countryist statement. You're right. If she fought for the Greeks, she probably would have worn something more traditional for the people she represented.

Close. It's Paradise Island within the Bermuda Triangle. (At least once again for the version we're discussing). Amazons are immortal. They don't need to conceive. This was one of the less serious statements. I just though it was funny that they don't have relations and live forever. Maybe we gaming geeks will live to be 150. ;)

I've seen her use her lasso on women and have even seen the lasso used against her. But the whole point of her character upon conception was that women could have a place in society and even be superior to men. It was a political statement way back then.

I agree. They didn't really have "political correctness" back then. She really was a good role model. I retract my previous statement.

Maybe that's her goal... to make you underestimate her.

lol... just lol

I've watched Superfriends, JLA, and Live Action. I've also read several JLA's, some crossovers, and a few actual issues. I love WW and think she is a great role model. Her stories were sometimes a little bland or predictable, but that was just the writers. Thanks for the debate though. :)

after poring over that WW sculpt, it seems that WW will be a REV set, not an unique (there s a hint of blue on that dial in the pix), which makes me GLAD! Now we might get a Miss Goody Good Shoes version of my favorite...Catwoman! I dont think WW would get Outwit tho...hmmhmm

ah badges I hope you didn't take my response personally. I tend to forget little smilies every now and then and just respond "matter-of-factly". I didn't take your questions as a personal attack against Wonder Woman. I was just trying to give more information to help you get to know her "current" version, not realizing that you already knew. ;) It just surprises me that there are people out there who really think she still flies around in an invisible jet. I was VERY happy when they finally got rid of that stupid thing and made her a respectable super hero with REAL flight. =)
