We here at HCRealms recognize that heroclix has a world wide fanbase. And because of that, trading can be difficult.
So we've added some flags to the trading forums to help make it easier to hammer out that trade for that one piece you're seeking.

A special thanks goes out to member foomonkey for the suggestion. For further information how the upgraded system works click full story below!

Hello everyone!
If you've noticed we've enabled the post Icons for the trading forum and the sales forum. It's been brought to our attention that being the U.S. Player base is the majority of the traders here on HCR, it's sometimes difficult for our international brothers (and sisters?) to determine who they can deal with.

So we've enabled the post Icons for the trading forum and added some flags for post icons to help visually distinguish where a trader is located when considering a trade.

That being said this change should make it easier to figure out where a trade would be shipping to if the new system is embraced by the users.

We have currently added (and are adding more and add can more by request)
Australia
Germany
Brazil
Spain
France
European Union
Canada
The UK
And the Philippines

We have not added a U.S. flag as it's fairly unnecessary since a majority of the trade threads are going to be U.S. based.

We hope this change helps makes determining trades a bit easier!

No US flag? :cheeky:

But I want one. For America!

Honeslty there's not much reason behind it with the majority of the users here being based out of the US. So trade threads without a flag are kind of generally designated U.S. However I suppose if enough people really want it (for whatever reason) it could be added.

Very cool idea! I feel bad for our Canadian friends right now, though, if that postal strike is still going on.

Tell me about it.. I've got some canadian friends I'm going to be meeting up with at the end of July.. I've got some people sending stuff to me to bring it to them because of the strike.

yes, please make a US flag, too, or I'm sure American users will be using other flags just to have one...:cross-eye

It is better to know than to assume. The flag system is a great idea! I second the US flag on the grounds of people knowing exactly who they are trading with. I think ALL flags should be represented, but that may not be feasible.

I am not sure if you are being serious or sarcastic, though. Want a hug?

US flag added. As for "all flags"; we're only going to hit areas where they is a major heroclix population. I know we haven't gotten them all; so feel free to make suggestions on additional locations to add.

It was sarcasm :) I don't mind if people want their own flags to indicate where they are from in the trading grounds good sir.
But see for yourself..everyone's fooling around with them in all of the sub-forums already...

As a UK trader, thanks guys.

It's depressing to see a great thread with awesome trades for both people, only to finish the thread and see the ol' favourite 'Continental US Trades Only'.

Can you add Norway & Sweden. And when HCR had gray background we could add flags next to our Avatars...

I was actually thinking of abondoning the German flag in favor of the European Union flag. I will gladly trade everywhere in the world, but preferably within the EU of course...maybe the EU flag would be good for you too?

People act like it's so hard to ship overseas but I've never had a problem. I've had many "foreign" trades and as long as communication is sufficient, there's no problem. Oh well, to each their own if you want to limit your possible trade base.

I think that would actually work better. Instead of adding Italy and Greece, for example, adding the European Union flag would signify well enough where the trader resides and what trading with that person entails (shipping costs, time for arrival, etc.). It will save space and headaches.

I was just messing around with the flags for a little fun since someone brought it up. One time deal. Promise.

If more US traders were open to trading internationally then this wouldn't really be necessary. Frustrating how many folks are scared of shipping a little further for a little extra cost.

But thanks anyway. It might help us out (I'm just worried it will make it easier for US players to just avoid my trade threads all together).

This. Exactly this.

I think it's just fear of the unknown for the most part. I guess some countries have stricter import laws than others, but unless your talking about hundreds of dollars worth of clix in a single trade it's not usually an issue.

Well; I think that this could definitely be used in conjunction with the "Buy", "Sell", and "Trade" thread prefixes. So if you have a German Flag + Buy, this tells potential sellers that you're located in Germany for the sake of shipping. If you've got German Flag + Sell; then this would tell people where you are shipping from (and you should probably add a note that you will ship internationally or something).

I'm sure we could come up with some system ... and I'd be fine with adding a "globe" icon to sort of cover the "anywhere" type of thing ... but that might defeat the purpose.

I think I'll just need to put 'Will trade Internationally' in the subject line.

I have off every Friday, so it's not hard to me to hit the post office to ship overseas, but I can see how people could find it hard to get to a post office.
Monday through thursday I'm off to work before the post office opens and if i'm REALLY lucky by the time I get home (I take a train into work) I can get into the post office in the last 5 minutes they are open (which is 5pm).

If I was working a normal schedule where I'm not in at 6:30am every day, My daily commute would mean I'm leaving my house around 7:30 and returning around 5.. Which doesn't make 9-5 hours.

My post office has an automated machine for domestic stuff but it won't do international stuff..

Which leaves saturday.. And Saturday is a) a huge hassle because the post office is open from like 10-2 in my area.. and b) everyone who couldn't make it mon-friday is there so I'm sitting there waiting my turn in line for 45 minutes+

So I can understand the sentiment on why some people prefer to do domestic trades only.

*edit* also another problem is the turn around time. Sometimes when items leave the country they get stuck in customs so long it makes it look like either the person never sent the items, or they're lost in the mail.
I remember whenever they came out I bought some heroclix action packs (the 3d object set, and the marvel and dc maps with bystanders) from someone in Canada, on here on HCR (I think he was quitting).
Anyway.. I ordered it within the last 2-3 months that I was living in a particular apartment in college.. Nothing came.. I upped and left.. Filled out my change of address form and moved to my new apartment. About 2 months after I moved into my new apartment my item showed up..

That was about 4 months for it to reach me from canada.. I believed the individual had shipped it (as they claimed) I just chalked it up to lost.. So that's another reason it's a bit less appealing.

Also the number one form of paying for things on the internet (paypal) has much stranger protection policies related to internationally sent items.
