So, anyways, I've been wondering how likely Wizkids would ever be to integrate webcomics into Indyclix. I mean, after all, they ARE comic characters. (Of course, on the other hand, they do lack the street recognition of even c-list Marvel or DC)
To keep things simple, I think we should limit ourselves to webcomics that A. Have a semi-realistic art style (stylized is okay, but good luck putting Order of the Stick into Clix without a massive riot occuring)
B. Focus on what is essentially Superheroics. (So no Goblins, gamer webcomics, etc.)
There's three candidates that really stick in my mind for this:
-PS238: I haven't read all the way through it, but it really seems to be full of some classic, yet fresh, superheroics.
-Walkyverse: Some of the characters from It's Walky! and Shortpacked! seem like they could be pretty solid in Clix. There's also a solid fanbase (targetting toy collectors as an audience will do that for you) who would be pretty sure to buy. Granted, a few characters would probably warrant omissions due to simply being too over the top even for the sometime silly game of clix (Honeybun, the Cheese), but even sticking to the more pedestrian characters, I think they've got a decent group.
-Homestuck: Though the initial art seems a bit too... vintage SNES for conversion to clix, the later stuff (particularly "hussnasty mode" http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Hussnasty_Mode, is downright gorgeous and certainly a viable basis for sculpts) The cast is wildly diverse and colorful, and the majority (12 of them) were actually pretty directly inspired by superheroes, though every one of them has plenty of quirks which ensure they'd bring something fresh to their character archetype. Yet again, there's a huge fanbase who would buy this up in an instant, though probably not as high a percentage as the Walkyverse fans.
The main problem I'm seeing with webcomic clix, at least with two of the properties I mentioned, is that the Kid keyword would be rampant (16 characters in Homestuck, and a goodly percentage of PS238)
Is there any other properties that you could see being a good match for clix?
