Inspired by the thugit, inc. movement, I have decided to start a KO list for my most-wanted and favorite piece from WoS, the Green Goblin!

I expect him to be fun to play and keep his hobby of secretly impregnating other characters' girlfriends to a minimum!

I will be keeping a general list of games and KOs along with a Spidey Count detailing how many Spider-Men I KO on the way! If I fight a reasonable amount of Ben Reilly's or Scarlet Spider's I will also add those to the list.

A little backstory on how I came to choose this piece...

I have always been a huge fan of all things Spider-Man, leading me to be quite excited for his remake in the WoS set. Unfortunately, after buying more than a case-and-a-half of the set, I was neither able to pull nor trade for this piece. It was no secret that this had always been my #1 want from the set. Then, in a tournament just a couple weeks ago, I played one of my best friends for 1st place that night. Midway through the game, the judge told me that he really hoped I would win because one of the pieces in the booster pulled for prizes was in fact Green Goblin. Unfortunately for me, my friend played a good game and my dice gave out on me, leading to my loss. I was sorely disappointed, but did my best not to show it. But in an act of great generosity, he gave me the piece he won! I make this list not only to have fun using one of my favorite characters, but to also show my appreciation for this great gift!

Totals:
Games: 8
KOs: 24
Spidey Count: 3

First Game!

I played ol' GG on a Sinister Syndicate Theme Team with Mysterio and Sandman at 298 pts.

Sandman moved in early to tie up all of his pieces, while Mysterio decided to hang back and provide support for Norman.

In this game, the Goblin KO'd Starter Human Torch, Jason Blood, Fast Forces Sinestro, and SI Lamppost Spidey holding the Crimson Gem, granting 4 KOs and increasing his Spidey count to 1!

Excellent! Gobby is one of my favorite villains...

It's great that so many people have decided to make the game about characters instead of powers.

I look forward to seeing Norman bombing the Heroclix universe!

Approved! Keep the count going!

Great choice, love me some Gobby.

And I agree with thugit, I'm glad characters are being chosen like this instead of Superman or some other powerhouse.

Norman's excited to get playing tonight at his first tourney of the KO list! He's got a brand new SATCHEL (not a purse), and he's packin' it with Pumpkin Bombs. Think 80 is enough?

I'll keep you posted on how the old crazy does tonight on his Sinister Syndicate Theme Team!

Tonight's scenario was...

Wild Time in the Old Town Tonight!
300 pts
Silver Age (All characters allowed, but no feats or BFCs.)
You must have one and only one character on your team with the wildcard team ability.

Green Goblin and his Sinister Friends!

WoS Green Goblin 122 pts
w/Thunderbolts ATA 8 pts
SI Doctor Octopus 69 pts
WoS Sandman 101 pts (my wildcard)

Total: 300
Theme: Sinister Syndicate

Game 1:

Norman was a little nervous for this one. It was his tournament debut, after all! He and his cohorts faced a team of...

WoS Wolverine 105 pts
w/X-Force ATA 3 pts
GSX Psylocke 74 pts
w/X-Force ATA 3 pts
CR Alex Luthor 113

Total: 298

Due to the shortage of maps, I chose the Arkham Map after winning map roll to try to limit Alex's Perplex/Outwit combo power and let Sandman get around unseen a little easier. My opponent's forces remained in the back corner for several turns, waiting for me to come after them. That was fine by Norman. Sandman advanced and phased next to Alex Luthor. Unfortunately, Alex Luthor was able to hit two straight rolls of a 9 after theme prob that made things difficult.
Shortly after, Norman was able to swing in and KO Psylocke without much of a fuss. Doc Ock served as a mobile Outwitter for much of the game. Based next to Wolverine, Green Goblin was unable to land a blow on Wolverine due to Super Senses which caused his demise, as I lost game 1. Norman was very upset.

Game 2:

WoS Nightcrawler 86 pts
WoS Deadpool 158 pts
AV Hawkeye 56 pts

Total: 300 pts

Uh-oh... Nightcrawler... I have played against him 7 times in the last 4 tourneys now and have only felled him twice.... UNTIL NOW! Gobby flew out Sandman (pushed on to his second click) early, basing The Crawler already with an action token with Sandman (copying the Thunderbolted Mystics with his wildcard). This left his opponent with a decision: Push to attack and run away and take a Mystics click AND a pushing click, push to run away and take a pushing click, or clear and take a Poison click at the start of my turn! Oh, you should have heard Green Goblin's maniacal laugh! After several turns of harassment by Goblin and Sandman, Nightcrawler was left emotionally scarred and unable to teleport, and Goblin and Sandman were left with restraining orders.
After that, Green Goblin quickly dispatched Hawkeye with a heavy object and despite being battle-damaged, KO'd Deadpool (Sorry Contingency Plan! It happens!) with a little Outwit support from Doc Ock. Then, Norman promptly violated his restraining order and finished off Nightcrawler. Oh, what a game for Norman! He got the entire team, bagged a Nightcrawler, and got the win! He sure was happy! He goes through all kinds of highs and lows!

Game 3:

LoSH Young Superman 100 pts
JL Green Arrow (Connor) 70 pts
WoS Nurse 10 pts
GSX Domino 69 pts
DC75 Warlord 50 pts

Total: 299 pts

Sandman moved in early and based Domino, Warlord, and Young Superman, letting Green Goblin go to work! After a couple of Wildcarded-Thunderbolted-Mystics clicks from Sandman and some Poison, Young Superman, Warlord, and Domino were all knocked off their top clicks. Green Goblin then proceeded to KO Young Supes and Warlord, while Sandman somehow remained teetering on his final click and Doc Ock softened up a pushed Green Arrow and provided Outwit Support for GG.
Domino was knocked off of her Stealth early due to Sandman's Poison and Green Goblin was able to successfully use his Pumpkin Bomb Barrage SP (YES!), triple-targeting the Nurse, Domino, and Green Arrow! After that, a regenerated Sandman finished off Green Arrow.
The Nurse was then moved sacrificially to base Green Goblin. He worked his moves and got a crit hit on the Nurse (did someone say something about knocking someone up?), resulting in the KO! Domino was then quickly dispatched by Green Goblin.

AFTERMATH: Record 2-1

KO'd pieces: GSX Psylocke, LoSH Young Superman, GSX Domino, WoS Nurse, DC75 Warlord, AV Hawkeye, WoS Deadpool, and.... WoS NIGHTCRAWLER!
KO's: 8
Spidey Count: 0 (BOOO!)

I have to say, I was very happy with how Green Goblin did today, and I think he was, too (It's hard to tell sometimes with that guy). I detected a hint of sadness; with tonight's scenario he was expecting to see several Spider-Men lurking about. Sadly, no Spider-Men were harmed in the making of this bloodbath. We saw two of them, but unfortunately, were never paired against them. Since he didn't take out any Wallcrawlers, Norman had to be satisfied with a Nightcrawler!

KOs of Nightcrawler are a point of pride to all the members of thugit, inc. Nice work.

Contingency Plan

KO'd Deadpool (Sorry Contingency Plan! It happens!)

Booooo!!!

Seriously though, great start. 8 in a night is a feat in it's own, let alone the names on the list.

I have played 6 games since my last update, and Norman has bombed many a battlefield! I'll be posting the results as time becomes available!

Game 1: Last Saturday

300 pt 4-player Battle!

For this game, I played Green Goblin, SI Doc Ock, and WoS Sandman! Gobby surged ahead of the rest of my team towards Spider-Man (WoS) and his Amazing friends (WoS Firestar and GSX Iceman). He was out for Spider blood! After dispatching Iceman and Spider-Man (increasing his Spidey Count by 1, I might add) he was able to move on to the last two opposing characters on the board: Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner from DC75!

KO'd pieces: DC75 Kyle Rayner, DC75 Guy Gardner, GSX Iceman, and WoS Spider-Man (woohoo! Add one to the count!)
KOs this game: 4
Spidey Count: 1

I've played Green Goblin in at least 20-25 games since I last posted in this thread... Unfortunately, I did not record any of those tallies during that time nor did I have the time to sit down shortly after to write down what I could remember, so instead, I will start anew with what I had recorded and what I scored in the latest tournament I used Green Goblin in, which was today's! This is part of what I hope is a renewed effort to report on this thread as Green Goblin after today will no longer be Modern Age. As such, I will be attempting to play him in every Silver or Golden Age formatted game I can play him in.

Scenario:
The Amazing Spider-Man (in anticipation of the upcoming film)
300 pts Modern Age
One of the characters on your team must have the Spider-Man Ally TA or the Sinister Syndicate TA.

Green Goblin and his Sinister Friends!

WoS Green Goblin 122 pts
w/Thunderbolts ATA 8 pts
SI Doctor Octopus 69 pts
WoS Sandman 101 pts

Total: 300
Theme: Sinister Syndicate

Game 1:

WoS Deadpool 158 pts
WoS X-23 60 pts
GSX Domino 69 pts
w/X-Force TA x3 =9 pts

Total: 296 pts
Theme: X-Force

This was an interesting game. My opponent got map choice and selected Madripoor. I took the side opposite of the boat. For his Thunderbolts ATA, Norman elected to use the Ultimates TA to take care of the X-Force's pesky stealth abilities. My opponent advanced his three pieces in a lateral line, placing them on adjacent objects he placed. I then advanced Doc Ock, Sandman, and GG into hindering terrain as he picked up a heavy object. After both of us cleared, X-23 advanced and based Green Goblin. After that, Green Goblin then perplexed up his damage and smashed her with his HO for 6 clicks of damage starting off the bloodfest and earning a KO. After Sandman advanced and did some Poison damage while locking up Deadpool and Domino, it was only a matter of time before Norman was able to knock out Domino and then Deadpool!

Game 2:

GSX Domino 69 pts
w/X-Force ATA 3 pts
WoS Peter Parker 50 pts
IH Winter Hulk 125 pts
GG Cosmo 52 pts

Total: 299 pts

My opponent won map roll and chose Madripoor again. I again took the side opposite the boat. She moved Winter Hulk out into the middle of the map behind the elevated terrain and advanced the rest of her pieces into hindering terrain. At this point Green Goblin, picked up an object and rushed to be adjacent to Winter Hulk. Then, Doc Ock leapt to a square of elevated terrain within LOF to Winter Hulk. The next turn after Winter Hulk pushed to attack GG and failed, Doc Ock Outwitted Winter Hulk's defense power and hit him for 2, while Sandman based the brute. The next turn after Hulk cleared, Doc Ock Ouwitted Toughness at the beginning of the turn, and Sandman did one click of Poison damage. Green Goblin then attacked with a Wizdogs Cart secretly filled with Pumpkin Bombs dealing 5 clicks of damage, KO'ing the beast! After that, it was mostly clean-up as Sandman based Domino and Cosmo locking them up while Osborn chased after Parker. Once Green Goblin was finished with his adversary, he finished off Cosmo to win the game! Add one to the Spidey count! (I'm counting Peter Parker!)

Game 3:

GG Stranger 213 pts
IH John Jameson 39 pts
AVM Black Widow 35 pts
GG Cosmic Cube 12 pts

Total: 299

Seeing Stranger out on the map was a little daunting. To take him on you'd have to be crazy... so Green Goblin was the perfect man(iac) for the job! I actually won map choice this time. I was going to choose the bridge map, but Norman took me aside and told me that although he had some great memories at the bridge map, he thought Madripoor would be the better choice with the other 2 games going so well, so I gave in and let him make the decision. This time, we started on the boat. Norman advanced behind some blocking terrain, as my opponent moved toward his Cosmic Cube to pick it up. The next turn I moved Sandman and cleared the rest, and my opponent tried to pick up the Cube with Natasha and failed. Sandman then pushed to advance and base John Jameson, the next attempted Cube-holder. Green Goblin attempted to Running Shot John Jameson and failed. Eventually, I was able to KO John Jameson while staying out of Stranger's sight. After, that there was a lot of dancing around the map, as Norman had to trap the Stranger with two tokens to do any damage. Slowly during the next 40 minutes, Norman was able to KO Black Widow, and deal a few clicks of damage to Stranger whilst keeping him off of his SP clicks. Eventually, Doc Ock and Norman cornered the average/giant/colossal-sized man. Doc Ock flurried and hit Stranger with a heavy object and Norman perplexed up his damage and finished Stranger! Whew! Don't tell Norman, but I didn't really think he could do it!

AFTERMATH: 3-0

KO'd Pieces: WoS Deadpool, GSX Domino, WoS X-23, IH Winter Hulk, GG Cosmo, WoS Peter Parker, AVM Black Widow, and GG Stranger
KO's: 8
Spidey Count: 1 (Peter still counts in Norman's book!)

It felt good to give Norman a good retirement party! I hope to use him for all of the applicable Silver and Golden Age events in the future! He was able to KO a ton of pieces and not lose a single Sinister Syndicate member over the entire tourney!

Great job! I like this figure, but I don't really have the backup to play him properly. Keep going!

And let me know if you take out any Daredevils. :)

Yeah, I had to do some fast dealing to get all of those SR's when they came out. It's a shame to think about, but there are actually no Modern Age pieces with the Sinister Syndicate keyword, now!

And I'll be sure to let you know if I encounter any Daredevils!

Thanks for the kind comment! I haven't had an opportunity to play with ol' GG since the last match I posted, but you can bet as soon as it's possible I will play him again!
