Thugit: Inc has issued a challenge: Can any figure top Bane's KO streak of 76?
Well who would be the perfect one take up that challenge then the best there is at what he does - GSX Common Wolverine.
This post thread will share the exploits of Marvel's most overexposed character: Wolverine.
Why Wolverine? Well I think 6 clicks of life is laughably short for a close-combat figure with no damage reducers - and so it is to challenge myself. Plus, with the Captain America set coming out shortly I wanted someone who could mesh with the new stuff and this Wolverine does.
So true believers, subscribe and enjoy the hack and slash of the ol' canuckle head as he stabs his way through the world of HeroClix!
The breakdown will be:
Battles Fought: 6
KO's: (delivering the final blow) 1
SNIKTS!: (6 on BCF) 0
Aw, Crap!: (Wolverine gets one-shotted) 0
Takes No Skill To Kill.: (Blades roll of 1): 2
Mutant Healing Factor: (clicks healed damage / pushing) 1/6
I think he's underrated.
You're gonna be pleasantly surprised, bub.
I like your breakdown/score sheet...

Great ideas for scores to keep track of. Makes me want to keep track of 1's and 6's for Deadpool's Ridiculous Regeneration.
Plus it's Wolverine, so that is money right there.

Today was a little Danger Room practice.
500 points, 4 actions.
My team:
Wolverine
GSX Emma Frost
GSX Phoenix and Cyclops
GSX Beast
GSX Angel
GSX Cypher
500 points on the nose.
I faced my 2 children:
Son (9 years old - been attending tournaments for almost a year)
SR Phoenix + Intimidate & Mental Assault
http://hcrealms.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=1108&pictureid=13402
http://hcrealms.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=1108&pictureid=16643
SR 75th Wonder Woman + Improvised Weapon
http://hcrealms.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=1108&pictureid=16644
Blob
(500)
and my daughter (7 years old - 2nd game)
FCBD Iron Man
LE Dr. Hank Pym
IC U Wasp
SR Hawkeye
Green Scar
(500)
I pull out the STAR LABS map because its the perfect multi-player maps and as I get a glass of water my kids agree to gang up on me - they're so cute.
My daughter makes a tactical retreat with her opening move, swinging wide away from the action as my son brings Phoenix in, guns blazing.
Cypher snagged the JSA Team Ability which is a great benefit to my team as Phoenix fires a bolt at Angel - the 17 holds and Phoenix is stuck.
Wolverine is within range and I send him in. He scores the 8 he needs to hit Jeannie and just like the comics, he hesitates rolling a 1 on the BCF.
Emma runs up to to attack but her mind isn't strong enough to penetrate the awesome power of the Phoenix. My Phoenix/Cyke, however, is and she taps the SR for 2 (after Imperv.)
In the meantime Angel and Beast team-up to work down the Blob - which is going quite well.
The Avengers continue to tour the complex as my son yells to bring her team in. She clears.
SR Phoenix, now with running shot, attempts to roll breakaway from Wolverine and succeeds (as he always does), flying away and taking a shot at Hank McCoy. His dice are terrible and he misses. Wonder Woman rides in, bashing down a wall and picking up the Light Object.
My turn rolls around and Wolverine is out for blood. Jeannie is within 5 but by charging him in he will block Line of Fire for Emma and my Duo so I send him in after Wonder Woman. He again scores a hit, and seeing as Wonder Woman has no damage reducers I roll the blades - a 2 comes up. (Maybe I should stick to Base Damage... :ermm: )
Emma and the Duo follow up with a mental assault in the Super Rare Phoenix. Emma still can't find a hole in the shielding but again the Duo can - blasting for another 4. Up comes HSS and Imperv again.
Beast Outwits Wonder Woman's Super Strength to keep Wolvie alive and I give way to my daughter's team. My son pleads with her to run the Hulk up. Instead, the Avengers head to the Fountain in the center to check it out. Wasp tosses in a coin and makes a wish.
SR Phoenix is enraged and she rips across the field, triple targeting Cypher, the Duo and our boy, Wolverine. He lets the dice fly and boxcars come up - :speechles .
She dumps 2 on Wolvie (for 3), 1 on the Duo (for 2) and 0 on Cypher (for 1) who gets knocked back for another 1. Wonder Woman swings on Wolverine but his ninja skills are too much and he deftly dodges her clumsy swing.
Emma has had enough (and I read the Duo's card and discovered you get a +1 to HIT as well as Enhancement) and she buries a bolt (with a Crit Hit) into Phoenix = 5 straight. What seems like a KO results in a reignited Phoenix. The rest of the team must clear.
My son then commands my daughter to bring in Iron Man, guns blazing. She declines but does have Dr. Pym Perplex up Phoenix's Defense. Hulk picks up an object.
Phoenix tries to regenerate but rolls a 1. My son asks what happened to his dice. I explain all those crit hits he's been rolling in earlier games have caught up with him. WW clears.
Beast is freed up from Blob's defeat and he heads into the fight against Wonder Woman. McCoy smashes her for 3. I want to break Wolverine away from the Amazon but don't feel confident on the roll so I am content to score my first KO. Wolverine needs a 5 and I just barely get it. My son picks up the figure to turn the dial and I remind him to look at his figure - "Oh, Prob!" he says. No worries, I think, and Wolverine rolls a 4. :ermm:
My daughter clears.
My son has given up imploring his sister to aid him. Wonder Woman flails but the 17 defense is too much as Phoenix clears.
Beast ends up pushing to KO Wonder Woman freeing up Wolverine. He sniffs once. Then twice. "Jeannie ain't going to hold it together. Its now or never!" I push Wolverine and he leaps onto his one time love. Up rolls the 7 needed to do what the comic version could never do - save the world by killing the woman he loves.
"JEAN!!!!" he roars as she dissolves into ashes.
Then Ant-Man shoots him for 2 and Hawkeye follows up with an arrow to the eye and Wolverine is out. :ermm:

Finally got a match in. Golden Age 375 points / 3 actions / certain keywords only, 15 points in Feats, max.
My team (SHIELD Keyword Theme):
Our Boy Wolverine
Chase Skrull Spider-Woman + Inside Information and Ambush
Aaron Stack
Gorilla-Man + Not So Special
I played a friend of mine that goes 'round these parts by the name of Mon_Ami.
His team consisted of:
LE Karima + Camouflage
M&M Bishop
Madrox the Multiple Man (Common)
Beast + Astute (custom feat) http://hcrealms.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=1108&pictureid=11492
I won the roll and chose the Abandoned Moon Base:
http://hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=308670
As soon as we arrived on the Moon I felt something was wrong. I couldn't put my finger on it - sometimes ya just know these things.
Jessica made her way into the main building, hefting a bolder along the way. I hear and see Jessica but somewhere deep in my head I keep hearing a screaming that something ain't right...
Aaron Stack, sometimes goes my Machine Man, ambles forward also snagging a Boulder. He stands firmly in the door way as if hoping someone would dare to attack him. I kinda admire that...
Next up Gorilla-Man. He leaps forward also entering the building. I decide to scout around and take point, moving my way towards some small interior building sitting almost in the center. I like the location as if any one wants to bring the pain they will be moving into Stack's throw range and possibly mine and Stack's Charge range.
The opposing team advances behind the big boulders. I have my chance to Charge in going after Madrox but don't want to get caught flatfooted. Madrox and Beast both have 0 ranges so they can't get to me. Only Bishop and Karima can do it - but doing so means they will likely block each other if they want to target me.
The team clears. Beast leaps over some boulders and brings his titanic intellect to bare by thwarting my Super-Senses. I can't tell which way is up as Bishop runs back around the boulder to get bead on me and lays into me for 3 damage, blasting the skin off my torso. I call out to my SHIELD teammates to give a little help but Bishop's aim is too true. The acrid smoke of torched flesh stings my eyes as Karima pushes to fly over the boulders to lay another blast of energy on me for another 3 clix. I hear the sound of screaming and I realize its me...
KO's: 0 :ermm:
My remaining forces were able to take Mon_Ami's team without losing anyone else. :ermm:

Finally got a chance to play. Since there were even numbers at my tournament Friday I had to wait for the weekend to play against my son. We played a 500 point / 4 action team using the build restrictions from Friday.
My team:
Our boy Wolverine
GF LMD SHIELD Field Agent
GF Nick Fury + Not So Special
E Ultimate Hawkeye
V Ultimate Captain America (sadly the only Captain America of choice it seems…) :disappointed:
HoT Daredevil + Lunge (a figure I’ve never used and believe is way overpriced)
GF Black Widow – (felt kinda meh about it)
H,L,L
My son’s team:
Super-Skrull Ms. Marvel
Omega Red
Iron Widow
GF KLAW + Not So Special
R Gotham Undercover
R DEO Agent
Computer 3-d Object, H, L
We used the Training Facility Map located here:
It has a random set-up with pieces placed all over the board. My son won the map and likes to play on it although it hurt his team.
His 3 big guns were on the far side near the pool along with my Black Widow. His remaining 3 pieces were pretty much surrounded by my team giving me a big edge from the onset.
He passed his first turn to maintain first round immunity. I positioned Nick Fury to push to Outwit next turn and had Black Widow beat feet from his 3 big guns hoping she could lure them away.
Wolverine started adjacent to the R DEO Agent and GF KLAW so I had good feelings going in.
On my son’s second turn KLAW phased away from Wolvie leaving him alone next to the DEO Agent. Fair enough. Ms. Mar-Skrull took the bait and went after the Russian spy. Natasha gets lucky as the Skrull’s attack fires wide right. Iron Widow comes roaring in, guns blazing at Daredevil but she can’t target him effectively at blasts the ground nearby.
On my turn Cap wings his mighty shield at KLAW who didn’t move quite far enough. However the shield bounces harmlessly off the side of the elevated terrain and hits Steve in the nose, hurting himself. Luckily the distraction is enough to gain Outwit and get KLAW to lower his defense enough for Nick Fury to blast him for 3, pushing to his own Outwit.
Daredevil uses a careful shot and stuns Iron Widow, incapping her while Wolverine guts the DEO Agent for 3.
Ms. Mar-Skrull takes better aim and blasts the Widow, burning her badly but bringing up Perplex. What’s better, the Skrull imposter is pushed and deep down the control hallway. KLAW is freaked and pushes to phase farther away.
The Field Agent aims her weapon and drops the DEO Agent freeing up Wolverine who charges in to the Iron Widow but his claws come up short. He takes 1 pushing damage.
Widow now runs back to the main room, upping her movement with the Perplex trying to help out her comrades. Omega Red begins to hunt her but his goal is to Charge in and so she is always able to stay a step ahead. Daredevil lunges in at the Widow and strikes her hard for 3 while Wolverine heals his push damage.
The Skrull is raging, bashing down a wall and grabbing a heavy in to support her teammates. This brings her into my 2 Outwitters range who quickly neuter her from destroying Wolverine next turn (outwit HSS and Outwit).
Wolvie slashes at the Iron Widow but the 7 is too much and he keeps missing. Meanwhile KLAW keeps missing Wolvie. Skrullvel slinks behind elevated to escape the Outwits bringing it inline with Daredevil who plinks her for 1, causing it to lose Invulnerability. Cap charges in, hitting for 1 taking it off Outwit. He then Outwits her HSS special keeping her locked.
Iron Widow attempts to reposition but Wolvie holds her fast. Skrullvel pounds Cap with a heavy and Perplex. What would have been 5 becomes 0 as Cap moves his shield to absorb the impact. Wolvie pushes but misses again.
The Iron Widow hits the rockets and blasts out of there on a push. She lands in the center bringing her tech to distract Cap enough that his shield is useless. MarSkrull seizes the opportunity and smacks Steve for 2.
Wolvie is now free as he makes his way off elevated and closer to the big 3 of my son’s team. Hawkeye gets off an explosive arrow and terminates the Iron Widow. He spits at her flaming carcass as Daredevil, Captain America and Black Widow combine to finish off the Skrull. All that’s left is a full dial Omega Red which I send the LMD to keep busy.
Omega Red tries to breakaway but fails. This sets up my team. Nick Fury brings hit Outwit to bear on the Russian and Widow ups Wolvie’s damage value. Wolverine charges in, pushing and sinks his blades deep into Omega Red for 4.
Omega responds in kind, dealing Poison to both Wolverine and the LMD. He then targets the LMD and drains her dry on his first attack. On the second he goes after Wolverine. The attack hits and Wolverine can’t avoid the strike for 3 damage. Sadly the roll was doubles and he was poisoned off his Charge click so he got knocked back into the wall and KO’d. :ermm: Oops, as I write this I realized he had Combat Reflexes so he would have lived on his final click. My bad.
Daredevil, Cap and Nick Fury finish off Omega Red next turn.
Wolvie KO’s: 0
Wolvie healed 2 pushing damage
Figure review:
V Ult Captain America – still the best version WK has ever produced. He was his usual awesome self. And after the spoilers it looks like he is here to stay… :disappointed:
Daredevil – with Lunge he is fairly decent. I was impressed with his offense although he needs a lot of help for 81 points. I’ll try him again.
GF Nick Fury – amazing figure. I don’t think I’ll need another Nick Fury again.
GF Black Widow – I like her. Not ideal but annoying. Can replace the Ultimate Black Widows for sure and gives me a nice option if I can’t afford my Mme Marie dialed Natasha.
Your reports are great. I can picture everything.
Wolvie is going to go off soon, I'd bet.

NeoShazam visited and so I had a chance to use Wolvie to chop through a whole new calibre of opponent. For the record, I usually lose to NeoShazam. 18+ defenses are my Kryptonite.
The first game was a 500 pointer.
Me:
Wolverine
Steve Rogers
Doorman
SI Hawkeye (with Clint Barton sculpt)
Mr. Immortal
Sin
LE Vision
NeoShazam:
Guy Gardner + Lunge
Con Exclusive Wonder Woman + Protected
Ice
R Mr. Miracle
Blue Beetle
We did battle in Khandahar - or as the locals call it, The Map by Mighty Maps. I liked all the walls for Doorman to take advantage of.
The DC guys moved towards the middle with Guy and Ted taking point about 6 spaces away from the rest of the team.
My team advanced to a small room as close as I could without sticking them out in the open.
The DC guys cleared and I decided to play aggressive. Immortal Man ran through the market place, basing Wonder Woman. He was to tie her up as I whittled away the rest of the team. Doorman phased Wolverine across the board and behind the team, setting up a Wolverine charge through a wall to wreck some havoc.
Vision perplexed up Steve's attack and he flung his shield at Guy who watched it bounce off the wall and hit Steve in the face. Ugh.
Miracle then uses a little razzle dazzle and Perplex's Ice's range +1 to shoot and hit Vision for 3. There goes my Perplex. Miracle then heads in to base Wolverine and Doorman.
At least Wonder Woman is tied up. That is until I learn Beetle's Force Blast shoots through figures - and off skids Immortal freeing Diana who comes barreling at Clint.
Luckily Clint is too quick and dodges the Amazon's attack and he returns fire with his bow, dealing her 1 damage. (Nice job Clint!)
Wolvie's nose twitches and he knows where the escape artist is going. Roaring, he lashes out at Miracle and low and behold he tags him! He scored the 8 and Miracle fails the Super-Senses. In a berserker rage I fling the dice for a blades roll for...
Aw, you know the answer. I make the vow to NEVER roll blades again with a damage of 3.
Up comes Gardner with Beetle, using Ted as a shield and tying up both Steve and what's left of Vision.
Wonder Woman swings on Clint and this time connects. He's hurt bad but hanging in there. I decide to get cute and use Doorman to bring Wolvie to set up a strike on Guy Gardner, dropping him off in a hallway.
Its a great move until Ice uses her Barrier to block him in.
Steve decides to lead by example, driving a boot into Beetle and sending him flying back with a Crit Hit! With combat reflexes as his defense, Vision uses his little jewel heat beam thing and misses hitting a frickin' 15 defense. Its a costly miss as Beetle then KO's Hawkeye, freeing up Wonder Woman to crush Steve. Mr. Immortal runs interference to Ice's Barrier so Wolvie can go a hunting. Wolvie charges in and stabs Gardner for 3 (see? No Blades rolls!)
It pains me, but I have Sin and Steve KO what's left of Gardner, denying Logan is trophy.
Its not long before Wonder Woman finishes off Cap but I show him by blasting out Blue Beetle. Miracle joins the fight (fresh off of putting down Mr. Immortal and bases Wolverine. I ponder whether I should go for him again knowing there is a free Wonder Woman. I decide to be heroic and using his ninja skills, Wolvie slips out of Miracle's grasp and Charges Wonder Woman. He roars a viceral cry of rage as he sinks his claws into the Amazon who uses Protected to stave off the attack.
Wonder Woman then Perplex's her damage to 5 and KO's Wolverine. (I don't count this as a 1-shot as I did 1 damage to myself by pushing).
Fin.
KO's: 0
BCF roll of 1: 1
Wolvie did everything I asking, making some big hits. Its still his dial length, as I've said many times, that proves his downfall. 6 clicks with no damage reducers is too short for a close-combat figure.

Justice League Generation Lost 22-24 is when most of my team, teamed up (new Beetle in comic instead of Ted though and don't think Mr Miracle/Guy was in JL:GL).
Ice was awesome. She got a perplex on range and attack to stick vision for 3, put up a barrier to block off Cap for a turn, and then later Wolverine for a turn.
I think Wonder Woman had her damage perplexed to 5 from herself, and another 1 from the last click Beetle or maybe 2nd/3rd click Mister Miracle to 1 hit KO Wolvie.

Yeah, I have no idea why they made his dial so short. We all know he goes for as long as he can....then regens right back to go again. Maybe they should give him a power like Mr. Immortal. Hmmm, if I ever win Worlds....
Though don't feel bad. Thursday I had Deadpool completely One Shotted by an opposing Akuma. Sucker picked up the Hammer. Next thing I knew, he is getting Perplex'd to a 6 damage and hitting Pool with Running Shot. And I roll a 1....plus if he would have lived through that, Wade would have been a smear on the edge of the board.

In Golden Age games he needs protected and probably needs to get the first hit against his target to be effective. Maybe even a super sense roll depending who the opposing figure is.
New idea : start tracking how many clicks of damage he inflicts along with KOs and team record to get a better sense of his worth. For example Vet Hawkman would land the big hit/first hit but rarely get the KO ( R Wildcat would clean up and probably averaged 1.5 KOs a game ).

He had 5 clicks because I remember debating about pushing to breakaway or just attacking whoever you had tying me up.
I'd remember of Wolverine gets one-shotted and he ALWAYS dies after a push.
Protected would make sense but I just find it distasteful. Poor design is just poor design...

The second game versus NeoShazam was a biggie. 1000 points!
I ran the X-Men:
Wolverine
Cyclops
Emma Frost
SR Archangel
Ice Man + Force Field
Kitty Pryde + Maneuver
Lockheed the Dragon
Juggernaut
Rogue
NeoShazam:
Darkseid
SR Magneto
Bullseye + Thunderbolts
Moonstone + Thunderbolts
SR Psycho-Pirate
Per Degaton
HoT Venom + Thunderbolts
League of Assassins grunt
Kid Zoom
I chose the Realmworx office not realizing Kid Zoom was on the team. My 3 Transporters are fairly neutered for what I had hoped to use them for.
The game began in earnest with the close-combat team heading into the Lobby while my ranged pieces moved into the park and dropped a few walls.
Darkseid and Venom rushed up the center while Magneto settled onto some debris.
Rogue pushed scoring a Crit Hit on Darkseid who somehow didn't Imperv out of it. Wolvie went after Venom and successfully navigated through the Shape-Change and the Super-Sense and scored a hit! (3 damage - remember by promise?) Knockback bashed the symbiote into the wall for another 1 putting him onto the Flurry 3 damage clicks. Uh-Oh.
Juggernaut rumbled through the walls with a heavy computer. 12 attack on Psycho-Pirate's 18 defense - I knew I could one shot him with the hit and not fear the inevitable push and tie-up I was expecting. BLAM! Juggernaut scored the hit but Psycho-Pirate made his Super-Senses. My gambit had failed and between the Outwits, -2 Perplex, and Incap, Juggernaut didn't make another attack although he held on for at least 3 turns...
Magneto blasted Rogue to nothingness and Wolverine felt the sting of Venom's bite. Thankfully, Venom's Steal Energy put him onto his first Super-Senses click, ending the flurry assault.
I make a huge error and forget to heal back Wolverine for 1 click at the start of my turn. :tired: I have Cyclops with a little stimulation from Emma eradicate Venom from the map (hitting for 5 damage).
Neo looks at the dial and see's Wolverine is on click 5. He targets two figures with Magneto and sends 2 damage to Wolverine to KO him.
Fin.
While it was frustrating to forget the Wolverine heal it didn't make a difference to anyone other then Iceman (who took the other 3 damage - 2 after Force Field). With a 16 defense at range and everyone knowing exactly what it takes to KO him, he's a permanent sitting duck.

Last week I had a chance to play against Mon_Ami. He wanted to face that X-Men team from above and I was eager to avenge my frustrating defeat.
My team:
Wolverine
Cyclops
Emma Frost
SR Archangel
Ice Man + Force Field
Kitty Pryde + Maneuver
Lockheed the Dragon
Juggernaut
Rogue
Mon_Ami's team:
SR Magneto
SR Juggernaut
Mystique
Sabretooth
SR Scarlet Witch
AW Quicksilver
Avalanche
Blob
Rogue
We fought on the warehouse map from Mighty Maps.
I felt more confident against this team and boldly moved my team out.
Mon_Ami came in from the street. I was concerned about Magneto and Juggernaut and so positioned boldly with Kitty stealing the object from Juggs and Cyke, Emma, and Iceman heading to the far left. Archangel, Wolverine, Juggernaut and Rogue went right.
It wasn't long before the opposing Juggernaut barreled in and slammed Cyclops hard. Sabretooth followed it up with a deep strike to Emma and things looked badly.
Changing tactics, my Juggernaut barreled into Pyro one-shotting him and allowing me to move within striking distance of Magneto.
The opposing Rogue missed a crucial shot on Cyclops to finish him thanks to Iceman's Defend. Avalanche dropped a barrier blocking in Juggernauts pathway as he wasn't on a direct line to Magneto. I could opt to go after Quicksilver but it didn't seem worth it.
Emma blasted Sabretooth with a crit hit, reminding him of the lowly animal he is and Cyclops blasted him as well knocking him to Regen. Iceman then grabbed Cyke and leap/climbed out of there.
Seizing the opportunity, Rogue flew in and smashed a Barrier piece down. Wolverine, seeing the great idea, did the same freeing up Juggernaut who came barreling into Magneto. I needed a 7 to beat up the old man and he did it!

Yup, Blob had it on him and took the shot for Magneto. Thwarted by my own design!!!!
Kitty glided in behind a wall near Magneto and the Scarlet Witch.
It wasn't long before the crew made a break for it. Kitty managed to hit the Witch for 2 and drag her through the wall via Maneuver. Opposing Juggernaut charged through the field and delivered a crushing blow to Iceman - only his Force Field kept him from being one-shotted. Blob rolled up, grabbing the dumpster his pal Juggernaut had just dropped.
This was when I knew it was go time. Wolverine spied the tub of lard looking to finish off Cyclops. Hoping to get him to lose Super-Strength he charged in growling - his claws gently sliding in among the rolls for a measly 1 damage.
Cyclops squirted away as Blob bashed the canuckle-head for 4, putting him on flurry. Excellent! The rest of my team crash down among Mon_Ami's team and its a tussle. I set up Iceman adjacent to Wolverine so he can ping Blob and eventually start healing back. Wolvie heals to click 4 and slices and dices with the flurry, hitting both times. I can feel a new KO coming.
That's when Magneto running shots around my team and shoots Wolverine for 3 and KO's him. So close!
My team went on to lose. Cyclops and Iceman followed soon afterwards. Rogue and Archangel hung in there, pinging away. Juggernaut had a huge chance and swinging the game my way but Crit Missed when he charged into Magneto a second time.
In the end it was Kitty Pryde: Agent of SHIELD to salvage some "pride" KOing Magneto and Rogue before finally falling to Mystique's Outwit and Juggernaut's charge.

Maybe he'd fare better in a 600 point build where the damage potential per turn is slightly lower and he isn't as big a target.
Can't believe Dukes socked Wolvie for 4, craziness.
Sounds like it was a fun game and comic accurate aside from the dueling Rogue/Juggernauts but they could be conflicted and mind-controlled by Charles to explain that.

It was a lot of fun. The Juggernauts kept running past each other, trying to hit stuff.
If you don't have Outwit, the Blob is probably the most annoying figure to face. I really struggled with getting Kitty into the fight until the end.
The game went back and forth, I was really worried at first but through a few moves I felt confident I could take it all before watching my team collapse as soon as Juggernaut Crit Missed Magneto. Rogue, as always, rocks. Only Emma could have topped her but I told Mon_Ami about our game so he targeted her first... jerk.

You're right. Drat!
Use the Custom Wolverine to get some KOs !!! :)
Well this is for only the GSX Common Wolvie, which has been an exercise in frustration at best.

I'm pulling for you Tyro!
Keep at it.
FWIW, I wrote this review (http://them0usetrap.blogspot.com/2010/09/wos-figure-review-wolverine.html) of WoS Wolverine on my blog last year. I don't know if it will help - both figures play different and it seems like you've had a run of bad luck with the GSX.

You realize that you have to prove Summers wrong now.

One thing I notice in all of your posts - average games are about 500 points (!).
Have you thought about trying to use Wolverine in a 300 point team? I think the less points, the less an opponent can counter the Canuck.
My suggestions:
SHIELD theme
111 CA055 Kitty Pryde
103 GX009 Wolverine
25 CA203B S.H.I.E.L.D. Field Agent
60 CA206 Black Widow
299
3x Stealth figures and a taxi to prevent LoF and let him get up close and personal.
HAND theme
103 GX009 Wolverine
74 GX023 Psylocke
38 HA003 Hand Ninja
38 HA003 Hand Ninja
38 HA003 Hand Ninja
291
More Stealth, and a TK Cannon.

You have good points anonym0use. My feeling is, given how much "effort" it requires to keep Wolverine safe, it shows the flaws in his design.
He cannot play as "Wolverine". Take Weapon X - at 30+ points cheaper it requires less protection than the GSX common to make his presence felt.
A smaller game might work in GSX Wolverine's favor - unless the opponent plays Common Superman :p
I will say I faced that Wolverine today in a 750 point game and he did fairly well. It was on a SHIELD team and he managed to KO my LE Impulse (helped by Outwit) early and tie-up SR Wonder Woman for a while (helped by Outwit).
They went toe to toe for about 4 turns or so until I could get my Superboy (jacked up after Chase Superman died) to finish him off on his Combat Reflex clicks.
When the Hulk set comes out I'll try Wolverine again. Right now I'm too deep in Superman (and I don't mix universes).

No, it just needs a little more time to heal.

Like I said right about this post:
I'm waiting for Hulk. I don't use Wolverine with DC figures and Superman is the new hotness.
Wolvie will see play with Hulk and whatever Galactic Guardians I get (ugh) and most certainly the Avengers set.

If a better Wolverine comes out in Hulk will you replace the GSX version with it ?

Not for this thread. This is only GSX Common Wolverine.

I think The Hand ATA has shifted the potential of this guy considerably.

Agreed. Now if I could just get a chance to play a frickin' game...

I nominate this "fast strike" team:
109 CA023 Nick Fury
103 GX009 Wolverine
7 ATA046 The Hand
79 CA030 Falcon
298
Round 1: Falcon carries Wolverine. Nick Fury moves up and takes a token off Falcon. Now both Wolverine & Falcon have large swing and are untokened. Repeat as necessary to position.
