"There was a time I would have considered an...endeavor...such as this a waste of time. A foolish pursuit with nothing to gain. I was younger then, a soldier, and I thought and behaved like a soldier. I lived, I even loved, for a time. But...I was unfulfilled. I wanted more, and a legacy simply wasn't enough. The world respected me, but then the world changed, and I changed with it.

I became a mercenary. An assassin. I was the best...am...the best. I took jobs others thought impossible...but then, most other men think small. The world feared me, and yet, for all that I've acquired and the deeds committed, I am an empty man with nothing real...nothing lasting...to show for it. I am getting older and the world is moving on once again...

Which brings us to this point. My final act, my last hurrah. My magnum opus. I am going to do what so many before me have tried and failed to do:

I am going to rid the world of its "super community".

Not through some madman's scheme or the use of a doomsday weapon. No cheap gimmicks nor parlor tricks. I don't need them. No...I am going to collect every 'cape' on the planet one...at...a...time. One after another, they will fall by my hand.

It will be a small thing, at first, a ripple. But that ripple will become a wave, an unstoppable tide washing away the stain of "heroes" like so much flotsam. And then? Then...they'll whisper my name to cow their own children at night, afraid that if they say it a little too loudly I'll appear out of thin air, like the Boogey-Man.

I am Slade Wilson, though many know me by the moniker of Deathstroke, The Terminator, and I will become more than just a name.

I will become a legend."

"And so it began, though not quite as expected...

I took a contract from a group calling itself 'The Hand' to hunt down a man named Fisk. Seems he's a big-time player where he's from. Wherever that is. Couldn't tell, myself; all he had working for him were your usual variety of Thugs, Henchmen, Criminals & Policemen on the take. Nothing really worth my time...at least not until a 'vampire' of sorts decided to show me how easily it could die by my hand. Not a scratch on me, but they still managed to delay me long enough for Fisk to make his escape...for now."

Played a game today that involved having a "General" backed by a generic army. No fliers and your general could not be more than 200pts. (if you chose one). I played Deathstroke with several of the old-school Hand Ninjas & 2 of the red gi HoT variety. My opponent played a R Kingpin with something like 24 or so various generics (Policemen, Henchmen, Thugs, Criminals, a few Vampire Lackeys and more). The map was a 3-D one at our venue...actually, more like 2 3-D maps pushed together, as one was completely indoor terrain and the other outdoor. Not really an issue...except the ONLY way in was through a 1-square wide "hallway" that my opponent placed an object into. Long story short, Deathstroke is the only one on my team that did anything as the rest were held up by the object, which I could have destroyed with Deathstroke, but chose not to. Looking at his team I realized that unless someone got lucky, they weren't going to take him down. I had hoped to jump into the middle of them and go to work, but I'd kill one on my turn, he'd base me with another, I'd clear, he'd push (and miss), then I would retaliate. It was like watching Lemmings walking off a cliff...

A very 'meh' outing for the first stage of the quest...

"A day like today reminds me of why I typically work alone...

I've never left a contract unfinished, so I went out in search of Fisk again. While looking for clues, I was lead to a group calling themselves 'The Horde'. A motley crew, if there ever was one. I recognized a few of them...Star Sapphire, for one (though she insisted on calling herself 'Evil-Lyn'), and Doctor Destiny (and he insisted on everyone else calling him 'Skeletor'). Obviously crazy, but it was still better than working with Joker...

Anyway, in order to get what I wanted, I had to agree to join their group; seems they'd lost a few members recently. Seeing no other option I agreed, and immediately we were confronted by a group called 'The Avengers'. And wouldn't you know it? The exceptionally pissed-off one shouting 'Imperious REX!' came right after me. Mistake. He was tough, but in the end he fell at my feet by his own hand. Before I could do much more, I was struck in the back by...someone...and woke up in my own bed. Not sure if anything actually happened, to tell the truth; bone-face and I need to have a little 'chat' in the near-future..."

Played another Round later where I was able to use Deathstroke. The caveat had to be a "theme", but something keyword based was frowned upon. I had planned a theme using Doc Destiny as Skeletor and others as his Horde (Star Sapphire as Evil-Lyn, Capt. Mako as Mer-Man & Elsa Bloodstone as Force Captain Adora aka She-Ra before she shook off Skel's mind control ;)), but I took out my "Beast Man" (GSX Sabretooth) and "Triklops" (V Taskmaster) so I could fit in Deathstroke. My opponent played SI Dr. Strange, Hercules, Namor and V Justice. Played on the Arena map, and he sent Namor (and Dr. Strange) after Deathstroke whom had moved off on his own.

He sent Namor to die...

Namor was able to get the first shot off, but he missed and left himself open to get wrecked by 'Stroke. We traded shots, just the two of them with DS getting the better...until he brought his Dr. Strange into play. The two of them managed to hurt DS together, but I laid into Namor damaging him up enough to put him on his last click. My opponent decided to push him, impaling himself on DS's sword but getting a good shot in. Dr. Strange ended up taking out DS soon after.

Dr. Strange...your cape would look excellent in my collection...

I loathe Dr. Strange. He was one of the few that Bane was never able to get his hands on...

The guy I played against uses him and Namor on virtually every team he can. I expect to see them again soon...

I love the "Deathstroke's Journal" style write ups. Good Luck.

In all my years doing what I do...nothing pleases me more than to take a supposed "god" down a few notches.

Kryptonian, Martian...or just a teen-age brat with power beyond his, or her, comprehension...they all have one thing in common: a smug sense of superiority.

Time and time again I show them exactly what a "mere mortal" is capable of...

Played a 600pt. game last week and built a team around Deathstroke with figures I (mostly) hadn't had the opportunity to use yet.

156 Deathstroke
100 Superman Robot
94 Psimon
84 V Dr. Light
75 Batman
38 Cypher
35 Roulette
+6 VENDETTA (Dr. Light)
+5 CRIMSON GEM of CYTORRAK

Don't quite remember my opponent's entire team, but he had:

Heimdall
Trevor Fitzroy
Gertrude Yorkes & Old Lace
Psycho-Pirate
Cypher
Harry Leland
V Mandroid Armor
Code Blue Officer
Gotham City Detective

...and a few others, plus some feats. Pirate & Heimdall both had Life Model Decoy.

Played on The Bridge map...and Deathstroke was a MONSTER. Deathstroke faced down Heimdall one-on-one, took out Pirate from range (he was tied up base-to-base, beating on Batman) and on the last action of the round, used Master Tactician to take down both Gertrude & the Detective.

Half of my team never left the starting area (Cypher, Roulette, Psimon); Light was placed on a rooftop and literally missed EVERY shot by 1, save the shot to KO the Officer. Supes Robot got smacked hard early on and ran away to become a battery for DS (I copied X-Men from Cypher). Batman & DS did virtually all the work; Batman basically provided a target for my opponent while DS never missed an attack.

Made up for the previous round (basically the same team minus Light, the gem & Vendetta), only we had to switch our highest point figures in some convoluted Mind Control scenario; I ended up with GSX Cable...whom I used to KO Deathstroke VERY quickly lol.

Playing again next weekend; probably sealed with boosters from the Cap set, though.

"There are some days when everything just goes your way.

Took down a few "cosmic gods" with my own bare-hands. One carried an ax and looked a bit like a shrimp on steroids. Interesting. The other? Some kind of Lantern I'd never heard of. Called himself Quasar and was even more foppish than that sounds..."

Played 3 games w/ Deathstroke today. The 1st was a 400pt., generic-centric game. 200pts. could be used for "named" figures, the other 200 for your army/no-names.

156 Deathstroke
39 XP Madame Hydra
38 HoT Hand Ninja x2
24 Vet. Kobra Fanatic x3
19 XP Elektra LE (named generics counted as generics)
16 Hand Ninja (ranged) x2

My opponent played a SHIELD/Howling Commandos/Police theme. Not a whole lot happened, as this round had some odd rules, but 'Stroke did manage to KO a SWAT Specialist. Meh.

ROUND 2 looked to be a doozy (for me); 500pts, half of your squad had to be from the new Cap set. Seeing as how I've only bought 1 booster (right before the start of the tournament), I didn't exactly have much to work with. Ended up using:

156 Deathstroke
89 Bucky Cap
74 GSX Psylocke
64 Jack Flag
47 Red Guardian
45 Hellfire
20 Destiny R
495

My opponent got some help from the Judge in building his squad. He's a kid around 16 or 17 that literally plays a Power Cosmic piece every chance he gets (usually Thanos). The Judge built his team for him, and he ended up with:

263 Quasar
171 Stardust
35 AV Scarlet Witch
28 Mandroid Armor R

Deathstroke KO'ed every single figure on his own (outside of about 4 damage from his teammates). My opponent moved out his two big guns and TK'ed out Witch, whom I promptly smacked for 4 from DS (thanks to some perplex love). Cleared, then hit again. My opponent took shots w/ both of the big dogs, and missed. I then crit hit Quasar for 4 DS straight through, thanks to the disruptor being TK'ed out by Psylocke. He had placed his Stardust in hindering, so I just based him w/ Flag & Red to keep him busy while DS faced-down Quasar. He used his Quasar to HSS back over to my side of the board and smacked Cap for 5. Hellfire hit him for 2 after a TK from Psylocke (using his special), then DS pushed for the coup de grace. Stardust was busy missing everything possible, and eventually took a lump from Red Guardian, putting him/her/it on it's 1st Regen slot. He eventually connected on Flag for 4, then tried for a Regen on his next turn (rolling a 1) and leaving himself stuck. Whoops! Cap shot him for 2, Deathstroke charged in for 3. Pushed DS on the next turn and hit for 3 more, KO'ing 'Dust. Based his Mandroid w/ Cap so he couldn't run, then cleared. My opponent managed to crit hit Cap w/ the Mandroid, taking him out (!!), but on my next turn I charged his Mandroid w/ Blades, rolled a 6 and that's all she wrote.

ROUND 3

Deathstroke once again was a BEAST, beating down Batman 1Mil & BD Martian Manhunter, although in less spectacular fashion than the previous round's ko's. My opponent played:

158 BD Martian Manhunter
120 Hawkman & The Atom
119 Barry Allen
117 Batman 1Million
94 JL Wonder Woman
73 Red Arrow
71 Hawkgirl
752...razza

...aaaand I now realize my opponent was over the 700pt. limit as I KO'ed everyone but Barry (on his last click) & Red Arrow. Anyway, I played:

156 Deathstroke
+18 Dissent
110 GSX Cyclops
100 Superman Robot
89 (Bucky) Captain America
75 JL Batman
74 Psylocke
38 Cypher
35 Roulette
5 Crimson Gem
700

Played on The Bridge (which is now my favorite map, as people tend to avoid the water and it becomes a corridor of DEATH). I moved out about 5 spaces from my starting area, carrying DS w/ Supes Robot to plop onto the Gem. Moved Cypher, Batman and the others into position and hoped to try for the Gem on my next turn. Never got a chance to roll for it, as he was based IMMEDIATELY by MM. Too bad for MM, as Batman and DS hit him w/ the dual outwit, double perplex from Cap & Cypher, and DS hit MM for 5 with doubles. Bats 1Mil then bases DS while others get reaaaly close to my crew. DS beats the crap out of Bats 1mil over the course of several turns, Cyclops WRECKS Wonder Woman, and then eventually helps Cap take down Hawkgirl (whom never really gets a chance to do anything). Superman Robot takes on and smacks Hawkman/Atom for 4. My opponent is reeling and we're only a few turns into the game. Batman has taken a few lumps from Barry Allen, but both times through pushing. Psylocke and Cap get Barry down to his last click (and I easily could have KO'ed him, but I was busy putzing around trying to get DS more KO's). Deathstroke finishes off Bats 1Mil, then takes out MM. Cyclops erases Hawkman from existence w/ a crit on his 3DMG RCE click and the game ends before I can get to Red Arrow.

Aside from the 1st game, Deathstroke was in full-on beast mode!
