Last night I took my FF starter and played a basic 300pt game last night, and it has been cleaned up a bit from what I remember of the Free Beta (which I gave up on pretty early in the process; that that was expected). The rules are definitely in; almost to the point of being annoying (Of course I want to use Range Combat Expert every time! I guess there are no "assumptions" in the game).
The game itself played like the table top game ... except that the UI would give me options to do things that I couldn't do (Range combat selectable when there was no valid targets). Yes, that's really a game play issue ... but because fiddling with the camera is so painful I felt like the program should at least help me a little to compensate for the fact that I can tell where the line of fire is.
Aside from those (very minor) issues, I played a very good game against Dutch, who was the knock back king and bounced my figures all over the board taking them out of position and keeping me on my heels.
Was it fun? Yes ... Will I eventually get sick of my 7 figures? Yes.
So while I do think that HeroClix Online is exactly what I've been looking for ... the current price point make me feel like someone killed my favorite dog. I hope they change things (just reduce the clixbux cost and refund the difference to those that already bought product!). :)
