I just looked. Strictly speaking it doesn't say that the two Superman Enemies have to be played by the same player in order to gain the outwit ability.

I checked the rule books, FAQ's, team PAC, etc. Granted, it's a cheap loophole that only a shyster lawyer would think of but there it is.

So, if my vet Doomsday comes up on Bobby's rookie Braniac then I can outwit his impervious and pound away.

Sorry Bobby, but until they correct this oversight then you're wax.

Something tells me no one in their right mind would allow you to play it this way.

This same arguement was made regarding the X-Men/Titans ability. Team abilities only work with members on the same team that are friendly.

I do see what you mean.

Though this oversight does exist, I do assure you that both Superman Enemy team members MUST be on the same force owned by the same player.

From the rulebook:
These teams have special abilities that affect their force.

You don't know my boss!

:(

I must appease "he who writes my check." So please someone give a answer to this!

of course no one would want to play that way. I don't want to play that way if I'm on the revieving end

point is, the rules don't STRICTLY prohibit it.

Bobby (SpinnerLover), you're going down!

Ah... I just gave you where the rulebook prevents this...

These teams have special abilities that affect their force.

There are exceptions to this, but for the most part. Team abilities can only beused for the benefit of the owning player of the force.

You cannot use your Superman Enemy figure to pait up with an opposing Superman Enemy figure and gain Outwit.

Your team abilities will only affect your force.

That would be like letting Minions of Doom use team abilities on the other guy's team.

Comics are full of teams with internal squabbles. I can't wait to see what Jean Grey does with Wolverine in Ultimate X-Men when she finds out that he dropped Cyclops down that ravine. Batman plans the strategy that takes down the entire JLA. Experienced Magneto has X-Men team ability but can't play on any team with Prof X due to the arch enemy thing? What's up with that?

Strictly speaking they ARE on the same team as designated by the icon. They just happen to be on opposing sides. Look at the Fantastic Four team ability. It specifically designates that only FRIENDLY Fantastic Four members gets the healing. Same with Spider-Man - they can only use any team ability that any FRIENDLY figure in play possesses.

Bobby, you're still going down.

Dave, I guess do what you want.

The official way this should be played has been explained.

Bobby, though you're "going down".... do so knowing that this tactic is illegal.

Not really, it's actually kind of simple Bobby. Just don't play any Superman Enemies when playing with this guy. Maybe you could get Infinity Challenge unit 136-138 to play him too.

you can tell it's a slow day at work when this is the best we could come up with.

what we do is pull numbers out of a bag to simulate the 2 closed booster tournement rules then build a 200 point team from there. He pulled Brainic and I got Doomsday for tomorrow's lunch game. We were just thinking "wouldn't it be funny if..." checked the rules to see if it specifically stated FRIENDLY or OPPOSING and came up with the post while we were waiting for this week's Sneek Peak.

Tsannik, I always value your rulings and you've often helped many questions we've had. Of course you're right. Knew that before we placed the initial post. Thanks for weighing in.

Now, speaking of this week's sneak peak - 6 DAMAGE WITHOUT ANY KIND OF BONUS? I've got to have one of those.
