I have just started repainting and modifying my figures.

I have repainted aptain America as U. S. Agent.
I have put a modified Jean Grey on an Experienced Black Widow base and repainted her as Spiderwoman.
I have just started to repaint Veteran Vulture as Falcon.

What I would like to know is are these figures OK to use in a tournament?
Apart from painting out the name on the base the rest of it is untouched. (i.e. number, points, team ability and dial itself)

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

My understanding is that repainted figures are permissible as long as the information on the base hasn't been altered. Unfortunately, a figure's name is part of its game information, since it plays into arch-enemy and Unique rules. At the venue where I play, I'm sure we'd allow it, because that's just the kind of fun-loving, freewheeling guys we are. Were you to run into a judge of the less-freewheeling variety, he'd probably disallow it even though it makes no in-game difference, and he'd be technically correct.

Actually, so long as you alter none of the inforation on the dial, it's perfectly tourney legal according to WK last time I checked.

Pretty much, shin's got it right.

But be aware that there are forces steering to toward making mods in tourneys illegal.

For now, ensure that both you and your opponent are okay with the mods and the judge is okay with it also.

Yeah, what Tsannik said, especially on your second mod listed.

The Cap Am into USAgent/The Captain is a common mod and the figure is easily recognizable as Captain America. Likewise with the Vulture/Falcon.

When it comes to your second one, make sure it is understood what figure is on what dieal. Many people will look at the fig and probably recognize it as Jean Grey and assume that it is her dial as well. As such, make sure your opponent is aware what dial they are playing against, as many people will use different srategies against the two different pieces.

Granted, most repaints/mods end up drawing attention to them selves off the bat, so I usually expect to discuss my mod with people and as such have them aware of what the dial actually is.

I think it is illegal to take a Vulture and put him on a Thanos base :)

I think it's wrong to take a Vulture and put him on a Thanos base. It's plain mean. If you do that, and don't point it out - I consider that cheating. Yes it is the other person's fault for not paying attention, but it is still wrong. Legal no = right.

I think it's wrong

And that's why they are leaning more towards making it that no mods or proxies will be allowed in an officially sanctioned tourney.

So even your Wasp repainted nude wouldn't be allowed.....okay for obvious reasons....

But your Batman repainted in black/grey would probably not be allowed either.

But, as I said... this is just a head's up. It hasn't truly happened yet.

Dude, unless it was the asian Wasp, I'd claw my eyes out if I saw a nude Wasp mod...

Last I checked, proxies were not allowed anyway, so I assume your statement means they are thinking of expanding that same ruling to include mods?

at current time there is no ruling against using a modified figure in a tournament as long as the base dial has not been modified/altered in any way.

given this it is ok to use repaints and all the mods you want. you just have to be sure to leave the dial itself alone. this includes the name that is printed on the dial.

in my shop we are pretty open to mods and allow them in tournie play. as the figs are mods they naturally draw more attention to themselves as people want to know what dial base the person is using.

Just like whiteperegrine....and I've tried to point out.

There is currently no ruling against mods..

so I assume your statement means they are thinking of expanding that same ruling to include mods?
From what I understand, this is something being thought over heavily.
